http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread....97#post12971497 So they still pre-ordered and paid. You mentioned that you can't help it if someone chooses to use paypal and sends their money immediately; how is this done? I assume that after they add to cart and checkout, they are prompted to choose a method of payment. If they enter their credit card info, you would charge it later...if they choose paypal, it sends them to paypal to make a payment, right? That would still be taking their money on a pre-order...but maybe I have your procedure incorrect. I took AudioJunkies out of my signature because it's easier for me that way. So cram it. Ok, I know exactly who you're talking about and it was a Paypal payment. The way Paypal functions is the customer is at the payment page, they choose Paypal. Our site redirects them to Paypals site at which time they choose how they'd like Paypal to send us funds. After they send the funds through Paypal, they're redirected back to our site, Paypal tells our site we've been paid and the order is processed. Unfortunately for us, Paypal doesn't really have a "paid when shipped" option. This is exactly how Amazon.com now works for third party merchants. You don't get paid until they get a tracking #. Works fantastically, no one pays for an item before it's shipped. The really odd things is now that Paypal owns Verisign. With Verisign there is an authorization that you can then draw funds on. I can see why this wouldn't work to well with Paypal but you'd think it would be a system that they could implement, especially since they own a company now that does exactly that. It would be a bit different seeing as how you can link a Paypal account to numerous bank accounts/credit cards, but that's why people like Paypal, you give one company all your personal banking information and let them take money from you and send it to someone else. Paypal subscriptions? I think Vectoral (the hosting company) uses them for their site. You could create a subscription to withdraw the given amount on a specific date without a reoccurrence. With theirs, they specify a duration for the subscription that is equal to the length of your agreement with them. In your case, the agreement would be once. Maybe something to think about if it's workable for you.

I imagine you're quite happy, Tom.

Also, as Tom mentioned in a post in the thread he just posted, it is fair to assume BL and Mms to be constant and demonstrate the proportionality of input current (i) and acceleration (a) if we are comparing a single driver. But when comparing two different drivers (ie. those of different masses), we can see fairly clearly the effects of mass on acceleration (if we assume this model is correct enough to use).

Yes, the problem with this discussion is perhaps a semantics question...what is woofer "speed"? Does it describe the initial response to a signal (the rise time) only? Or does it also describe the decay time as well? If it is the former, then we can somewhat agree that "speed" is a strong function of the inductance and a weak function of other factors including BL and Mms. If it is the latter (which I believe it is), then inductance is now a small(er) variable that describes only the effective low-pass effects of the voice coil in the time and frequency domain. And especially for subwoofers, mass, BL, enclosure, and room are significantly more important. You see how critical they are in the frequency domain...thus, as described by Fourier, they must be critical in the time domain as well. For those comparing inductance, it is best to compare as a measure of mH/ohm. To do otherwise is misleading.

I do have to apologize...it wasn't the 13av.2 that they had pre-ordered and required a refund on...it was the upcoming EQ. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread....97#post12971497 So they still pre-ordered and paid. Wired in parallel....hopefully not free air too? That would be a recipe for disaster for sure. If there's no serious damage and it's just a case of the dustcap falling off, that's simple to fix. Any CA glue should do the trick (findable at hobby shops and such). Of course, Don should be able to help you too.

You are 100% correct in stating that there are posts I make on SSA and then there's what I do on AudioJunkies. I'm not required to hold any standard here or anywhere else except for AudioJunkies. Thanks, though. Someone from eD coming to tell me to avoid posting misinformation is comical at its best. I cited my source; go find the post I referred to and ask them.

"Student of Honor" for rizzle.

There are some good people there and some good people here. Some are at both. What happened there is ridiculous but is also a good demonstration of a prime advantage at SSA: generally no BS. Have to say generally because nobody's perfect.

Good choice, Tom!

The Monte's are ok....my girlfriend's dad has an 06 SS and it's nice, but nothing spectacular and surprisingly ball-less considering the engine. I don't like that switching the number of cylinders it uses thing....

I vote the Impala for a stop-gap car. Better than than the Grand Prix's, in my opinion.

I'm betting on less than 10 people in my English class today. It's the last day before the break, it's a 50 minute class, and we already know that dick all will be happening in it.
-
I can't say that I believe that anymore with the funky hype on the new mag. ^^^ Why I love you, Sean.

Yeah, I try not to begrudge them for it either because it's free enterprise/capitalism/whatever cool word you want to use. And that's fine. I mean, shit....I never have to take classes twice, so what do I care if the text books change? But it doesn't seem kosher all the time either.
-
Where does that money go to? I've always thought it's a little suspicious that they let a prof write the textbook for the class they're teaching...he's got a vested interest in selling the textbook, so of course he recommends his and updates it to a newer version as frequently as possible. Although it's a different story when written by a different prof.

I've got a 12" Revo from Audiopulse that I'm wanting to move right now. 28mm Xmax, 1500 W Rms, 1 - 2.5 cubes. I wouldn't say it's a small box driver, though...average box, really. It is very good but not cheap either.
