Surprised this hasn't been said. Exactly.. Your best option for that kind of power is the BL. the BL will too be louder on the same power than the Q. Why do you say that? The Q has a stronger motor and can handle more power than the SSD.

what are your brothers goals? enclosure (sealed/ported)? What type of music does he listen to? Is he going for SPL or SQ or just an all around daily sub? Looks like his budget is around $250 for a sub and as you stated he will be running an aq1200.

What are your goals for this system? What does sound quality mean to you? You can still achieve great sound quality with a proper ported enclosure IMO... Yes the Q is a SQ subwoofer, if that is what you are asking.
Have a friend looking for two 10" Xs, wanted to know if the old FI X subs are still available? I know they are online, just making sure before he orders them. Thanks!

you would want to create the 44.7v while your headunit is at 3/4, not full tilt. If you set your gain to 44.7v at full volume then you are not going to get the full 44.7v output at 3/4 HU volume. Hope that helps?
well dont i need 2000 watts to get the optimum performance from the icons? and whats wrong with the audioq 2200? nothing wrong, but you can usually find used sundown amps here for great prices. how much is the AQ2200?
