Good choice you will be very happy with it.

I have had both. I used the same box for both 2.1cu ft ported @ 32hz with 800wrms going to it. I have to say the RL-p is a real nice sounding sub. I did like the RE SE12 I had, but I like the RL-p better. The RL-p is a better sounding sub to me. It made me buy some other SS subs I can not say that for the SE. I have 2 RL-i 8s right now because I wanted to take up less room but I am think about going back to the RL-p because it's a real real nice sub to me.For the price I dont think you can get a better sub. Do the amps still look like they will be out about the 25 ?

1st Would 800wrms be ok for a RL-s 12" sub in a sealed box at 2cu. I would like to try one out but not sure if I have the power. 2nd RL-i 8s I have them in my car now in a .4cu each sealed they sound real nice. I miss the overpowering bass of the RL-p12 ported. I do like the sound of these sealed . I would like to know what you think the most power they could handle in a seal box. I like the little room they take up. I was thinking about getting a bigger amp for them. right now they are getting 400wrms each do you think they could take 600-700 each or is this not a good idea. Thanks for your help. Mike J

Cool its no big deal 1XL is a little tight on me. 5'9 215lbs I work out 5 days a week.

Got mine they look nice. I bought 1 XL and 1XXL and I got 2XLs I could real use the XXL but I still like them. Thanks for the hard work guys they real did turn out nice.

Thanks Mike, I like how the 8s sound just wish I could get a little more out of them. If I got a bigger amp I would set the gains with a meter to play it safe. I dont want to kill them they are to nice to F. up and if you remember it was not to easy for you to get me the pair. Well I am going to think about it for a few days.

So you guys dont think when Mike says Min.2cu that still would be to low. Well then I might try and buy a sundown 1500d amp and see how the RL-i 8s can handle close to 600watts and I hope they dont blow

Looking for LSQ. I have a RL-p 12 and love it but wanted to take up less room. I thiknk I might port what I have built with 2" PVC. I will run the ports outside the box. I just to find out if 2 " is big enough or will I get a lot of port noise. I do have mine faceing the rear of the car.

I think If it would of been sealed to sealed I would of been ok. But going from 12 ported to 8s sealed is what screwed me up. The 8s are real nice They get loud, maybe more power would help. Might try and port what I have.

I put my 2 8s in today. They sound good but I think I should of built a ported box. I have it sealed at .40 per sub. It does hit the lows good but it is a big step down from the RL-p 12 ported . Well back to the drawing board. I will try and get some pics up soon.

Looks nice :yoji:

Can't wait to hear how you like it. If I go sealed it will be about the same as you. 400w each but I might go up to .6cu ft per sub.

Ok I now have 2 SS 8s and i need to build a nice box for them. I know how big I want to build it 41 x 10 x 12. This will give me 2cu ft of air before port. i would like to port it to around 29-31hz with 2 3" ports. Here is what I need help with how long do they need to be? I dont know how to figure out how much air the ports will take up in the box. Not sure if it matters. Thanks for any help with this. Mike J

I was thinking about facing the subs up and the ports to the back. I want to port it low, I want the best sq I can get out of them. Right now I have my RL-p 12 pointing to the back with the port. That 12 sounds real good just want to take up less room. It is going in a Scion tC.

Denim, I keep thinking about running 3 sealed but I could only give them about 266w each but I can give 2 400w each not sure what to do. I have to make up my mind soon a guy at work wants my box with the RE SE12 I had in it. What to do.

What size box are you going with for you 8s and what kind of power ?
-
I would rather have the subs firing up but, My pit likes to ride with me and lays on top of the box sometimes. Not good on subs. Pointing them up would lessen the rattles in the hatch area. I had a hard time dampening the hatch. Almost impossible to tame rattles from auto hatch release mech. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok now I need pics of the pits please. I have 1 Pit and 1 Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Staff is in pic with my sub he is about 14-15" and is 45lbs

So when I tell it 1.5cu ft and it gives me a size port to use do I have to build the box bigger to make up for the port or not? I just want to make sure. Thanks again for the help. MJ
