Where does that extra power come from! It ain't magic.... Go turn on bass boost, or max out the gain knob, your choice. It will sound bad, why? The speaker will not last long (if rated at the same power as the amp of course)...why?

Haha no disrespect meant! I think it's around 10% thd. I know its higher than people think it is. You hit the nail right on the head. Not all clipping blows subs, but to say clipping has nothing to do with blowing a sub is misleading. Back to my previous example, if someone said "texting doesn't kill you, its only when you crash," that would be considered an ignorant statement right? And of course box size will dictate how a speaker reacts mechanically but outside of how it affects the cooling ability (from cone travel) then a 1500 watt coil is a 1500 watt coil. I guess what it all boils down to is...heat buildup is awful. Whatever term you wanna use for it doesn't matter. Otherwise bass boost would be useful.

Quotes were getting to long, I'm replying to Julian. 5k sine wave would melt it. 5K on music would melt it. Hell how many 5k burps would it take? I'm not trying to disprove anyone. I'm trying to get a simple point across. Of course if you understand how to set a gain knob, how an amplifier works, how to burp, hell when your sub smells funny then what I'm saying is a moot point. But...if you don't then...your post might lead someone to buy a 5k amp for a BL because they read "over 5k a few times, no deaths, no nothing." Duran's post could lead someone to think that that funny noise (that is audible distortion) is just fine because "Clipping won't blow it, clipping blows nothing." All I asked him to do is explain further. Whether he agrees or disagrees with me doesn't matter. What he put was not enough information for someone who doesn't understand to...understand. That makes his post not very helpful...huh? I knows Denim...he's a very smart guy. Duran is a very smart guy. Unfortunately we can only read what they type, and even then we can only read the words themselves.

Half truth. Clipping dramatically increases the average power which blows stuff. It's like saying texting while driving kills people. That sentence in itself is dumb as a mofo. What, is your cell phone gonna explode in your face? No Car crashes kill people BUT texting causes the driver to be distracted which causes car crashes...you see where I'm going with this. A leads to B, B leads to C,therefore A leads to C. Sure there is a point in there that isn't absolute. Not all texting drivers have wrecks, and not all clipping amps blw subwoofers...but it's still no bueno. If whoever you're talking to doesn't understand that "Clipping increases the power blah blah" then they see "Clipping won't blow it, clipping blows nothing" then they think "well my amp is clipping but clipping doesn't blow anything so it's just fine" and them poof, bye bye sub. Not saying that you're wrong, cuz you aren't, but you say that a lot without explaining anything...which defeats the purpose of saying it. Dramatically...not really. Please read: http://www.forceaudio.com/featured-articles/the-clipping-effect-test/ I've read it before, and maybe dramatically was the wrong word to use but when you have an amplifier that is capable of 1200 watts and two subwoofers that can safely handle 600wrms, how much extra power do you need to kill them? Realistically?

Did that few thousand a pallet include the boat ride over here? Or the rent for your headquaters, cost of business operations, taxes, etc... I work in fast food, we sell tacos that cost about 20 cents to make for 1.29 plus tax. But all that markup goes somewere. PS. Fvck RD. I'm not defending them in any way. There's all kinds of reasons that stuff costs what it costs, most of it to keep the business...in business. Nobody's getting rich off of Amps lol But that's an extreme case where the woofer can handle 3x the power of the amplifier it's paired with. Everybody these days wants it the other way around for some reason? A. = Clipping, which causes B. overpowering, overpowering causes C. the death of the sub. A to B, B to C. C cannot come about without B, which cannot come about without A. You must text while you drive...lol

What you forgot to mention is price...which is the real key. It's not about being "Underrated" per se...but more about feeling like you got more than you paid for. If a 600wrms woofer costs...we'll say ~175 on average and you pay that but get a woofer that will safely handle 1000wrms then guess what, that's awesome. If a company is willing to sell their 1000wrms sub for the price of a 600wrms sub then is it really them being "misleading" to get sales? The same goes with amplifiers too. People rip on Audiopipe because there has to be a negative right? It can't POSSIBLY be that cheap, that easy to get, and still make the power it claims to make right? Obviously it's a cheaply built distortion machine? But take a Sundown or JL amp that costs buku. They're solidly engineered, extensively tested, and come with excellent customer service and product guarantees right? (Not to say that they aren't but most people who say that have no fvcking clue what they're talking about. People say amps are "SQ amps" and "SPL" amps but what the bat shit does that mean? That SPL amps have higher distortion levels? How do you know?) That's bullshit. I call Jackie at Audiopipe and she trades my busted amp for a new one no problems. Or she sends me the part I need and I pay shipping (real life experience btw). What customer service is better than that? When you sell stuff for very cheap, people will say it's crap, assume it's crap, and swear that it's crap. If you saw a new company you had never heard of and they had a sub rated for 2k with a price of $199.99 shipped would you buy it? Everybody says it's great and the company is great (and of course they're nuthuggers right? Cuz they like what they bought and reccommend it to anyone that asks?) would you get it? Most people won't. They like to feel like they spent money on something awesome and they'll spend a lot more in most cases for that security. Got damn that shit is long.
  9. I'm thinking 3 15" Icons... The cargo area has plastic where the wheel wells are so the box will have to be designed around that. My dimensions are... Depth - 37 inches Width - 47 inches top, 37 inches bottom Height, - 18 inches total. The bottom 6.5 inches have to be offset 5 inches on each side (hence the 37 inch bottom width), and then it can be the full 47 inch width for the top 11.5 inches. If anyone wants to make magic happen then go for it!
  10. Cool. I want a blue 'saber though. Uhh...she's nothin special so I don't really have any pics. I'm shooting for efficiency, trying to be as loud as I possibly can without doing major electrical work and using a giant amp. I have an Audiopipe AQX-1800.1 to run the subs with. Best amp I've ever owned.
  11. 98 explorer, no wall. Would you be willing to design me something?

  20. I know that in the subwoofer realm, cone area reigns over power if you're trying to get louder. Does this apply to fronts too? I recently got a new set of comps and I love em but they're not loud enough....well...that's misleading. I'm sure they'll get loud enough but I don't feel comfortable throwing 300+ watts on each side to get what I want. So I thought maybe running two sets up front would give me the loudness I'm looking for while still retaining the clarity of the sound. I'm not looking for perfect imaging and staging because I know having four tweets up front will ruin that (or will it?) As long as its equally as loud in each ear, I'm happy. Will two (or more) sets of components fit the bill or do I just need better (or pro audio) speakers? Thanks in advance.

Power VS. Cone Area for front stage...

Exactly, which is why I'm thinking of snatching up another set I found and running both up front rather than trying to get the ones I have to be supercomps. Who knows, maybe they'll break in in a few days and shut me up?
  22. Like two 4 ohm on front and two 8 ohm on the rear? That should be fine.

Yep. They got here Saturday, I got em in yesterday, they're awesome. I forgot to pm you my bad. I just really don't wanna melt em lol

Power VS. Cone Area for front stage...

I have Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5 comps, mids in the stock location in the doors tweets are ear level on the door panel. They sound awesome, and you can hear it just fine over the bass at max volume but the details are drowned out. I was thinking of doing another set up front with the mids in the kicks and the tweets....Idk yet. Would having one mid in the door and one in the kicks be a problem? My main goal is loudness really. As long as they sound as good as they do now with x2 volume I'd be extremely pleased. I am currently running an AQ 4x90 bridged (~240wrms per side on tap. Not sure how much I'm really using) on the fronts. If I were to switch to two sets up front I would find a ~125x4 and use all four channels on the fronts.
