  1. I see that the "cooling" option increases the power handling 200-500 watts. But i'm not sure how. Is it because it allows it to run cooler so u can push it harder or is it because it is harder for the amp to push allowing it to up the power handling? Also I don't know if I should get the "I Heat Ring" option or not. I see it says it will help overall transient response and will help it hit higher frequences, but don't know if that is good for sq or what exactly it means or does. Will it make the sub have more of a peak or not. I am looking to stay as flat as possible as this is an sq sub and dont want to get the heat ring if it will make the sub have more of a peak sacrificing sq. Thanks

    Tuning Amp

I am getting my new FI Q 12" on Tuesday and want to have everything set up and ready to go when it comes so I can hook it up and go without fiddling with settings on amp or cd player. I need to tune my amp and will not take it to a shop to get charged for something I can do. My question is how to properly tune my amp without an oscilliscope, or hooking my sub up. I want to be able to somewhat tune it with the sub unhooked as I want to properly break the sub in and cannot do that by tuning my amp with the sub hooked up. Once I have the sub broke in, then I will fine tune my amp to the sub w/ it hooked up, but until then how will I have it tuned pretty close w/ hooking my brand new/non-broken in sub up? Everything I read says to hook the sub and and listen for distortion, but like I said I will not do that until I break the sub in completely. Thanks

    FI Q Heat Ring Option

I am trying to determine whether or not to get the "Heat Ring" option for my FI Q 12". It says it is supposed to help lower inductance and help overall transient response, but not sure if I should get it or not. Anyone have more knowledge on this than me or previous experiences? Thanks

FI Q Cooling option and I heat ring option

If ur gonna bitch about it than don't fuckin read it.

    FI Q Cooling option

I am ordering an FI Q 12" and have all the options selected, the only one I don't know if I should get for sure is the "Cooling" option. I'm sure it would be better getting it than not, but are there ne disadvantages to it? Such as harder for my amp to push? Thanks

    FI Q Cooling option

It says the "Cooling" option for the FI Q will up the power handling 200-500 watts. Is that just because of the cooling making it so it can run cooler in turn letting take more power or does the cooling make it harder to push the sub in tern would I need more power to push it with the cooling option. I want to get it if it just allows it to take more power because it runs cooler, but not if it make the actual sub harder for my amp to push. Thanks Also does ne one know if the "I Heat Ring" would be worth it. It says it helps the overall transient response and will hit a little higher frequencies with it. But I don't know if that'd make it have less sound quality or better?

FI Q or FI SSD with TRUE 850 watts rms

Yes, but basically I don't know which sub would have better results using that amp. I am going for SQ in this setup and know it is usually better to have excess power for a sub than under powering it for good quality sound and clarity(SQ). So do you think that my amp I'm using will be enough for that clarity or will it sound better on an SSD where I know I'll have plenty of power? Power doesn't determine sq. Less power might be even better for sq because the driver will have to move less. "The more excursion, the more distortion and phase problems you will get, independent of driver design. Laws of physics dictate that." Generally the closer to xmax for a sub, the less linear it gets, which introduces distortions. Sounds like you want the Q, so go for it. Only thing to worry about is adjusting the gain properly on the amp and you'll be fine. Thanks for the reply. So i'll get the Q the only think I don't know is if I should get the "cooling" option or not. Cooler is obviously bettter. But i've heard mixed reviews on whether to get it or not. Also it says it can handle and additional 200-500 watts. Is this only because it will run cooler to handle more power? Thanks
  8. I am deciding between the FI Q 12" and FI SSD 12". I will be hooking up to a Rockford Fosgate Power Series 851S 2 channel amp that is bridged and 4 ohm stable. It is rated at 850X1 watts rms @ 4 ohms. But on the birthsheet is over 900 RMS. I was wondering what would sound better for that amount of power the SSD or the Q? I am leaning towards the Q from reviews I read and what I've heard, but definately don't want to underpower it. I have ran several diff. systems with this amp and it has pushed them no problem with the gain no higher than 1/4, so i'd assume that it should be able to handle the Q. Thanks for ne input!

  11. I placed an order for an FI Q 10" and it was meant to be a 12". How do I go about changing my already placed order from 10" to a 12" before it is too late. Also I ordered it after 12pm, so it says they shouldn't start to build my sub till tomm. Thanks
