Ok so today is day two of my build and i have gotten allot of work done. anyway here are picks of what i have done so far. up to come- electrical upgrades, door components, and amps, and last but not least, loads o sound damping. Ok well here is my dog who is even astonished by the size of the sub What happens when your screws are tougher than your bit industrial grade terminals my friend sitting behind the final product and everything fitting where it should (my friend wrote that) that's it for now, now I am off to buy some 1/0 awg welding cable and a new battery much to come. and what do you guys think would look better to finish the box, carpet paint or bead liner, cause I'm having a hard time deciding

I am very supprised that noone has mentioned his electrical. Stock electric with a sax 1500?!? I almost garantee that is the problem. You probably have a huge voltage drop. Did you do the big three? 1/0 awg powerwire? If you dident, I highly recomend you do
-
Also, dose anyone know any good 6.5 components? I found these crecendo audio ones for 99 bucks but I am a little sceptical about them because normaly carbon mids ate not thAt cheap. Are they any good or are they not worth it?

My Sub Fades In and Out (what is it)?
Bob345 replied to Typicaljawaiian's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
One of my friends had a similar problem, the problem whit his is was that the speaker wire was starting to break off of and only a couple strands of wire where in the terminal so you might want to check that. -
I would go with the q if your strapped for cash. I just got one and they are beasts! But I have a question where did you get $390 from? My 18 q cost 294+ shipping.
-
Good stuff man, this is turning out to be one impressive build caus most people I know, would never have the guts to paint their own car. Good luck , hope the bad weather let's up over there
-
It's realy install dependent. The q's can definitly get real low in a seald box. I got a q 18 and it gets loud and low. But still in the end it is all about buildig a quality box to get the sound you want.
-
What are your goals?

There will be soon, just need to figure out how

So today I just receivied my first 18!!!!! An 18 fi q!!!! When I saw the size of my box I just gaped At it. It was just huge! The size of the sub is even crazyer. The thing is enormous! I was realy not expecting thing to be so heavy. So far the first impressions have been great so I caint wait to build a box for it. Fi is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
This thread is just too funny lol!!!
-
Box size should be around 2.5-3 cubes of space ported or sealed, hope this helps out. As for th t/s parameters I got no clue
-
The options like Cooling are part of the actual moter, they don't come with a recone
-
Use goo b gone. The stuff works wonders when removing sound deadeners.
-
Nice job man, can't wait to see the finished product

I just wanted to know if it was possible to make a sonotube enclosure for an 18" fi q. It will be powered by a aq 1200d. I just want to know if it's possible or will the tube flex too much
-
Ok so it has been 10 days seince I ordered an fi q 18 and I have not received a update on shiping information. Is fi backed up or is somthin up with ups?
-
Don't worry, you'll get your driver in the time they said it would take (as long as they aren't on backorder for parts, but i believe thats only on the btl?) Fi and several other companies have a tendency to not update their tracking information, or so it seems. A lot of people order their stuff and start to get ancy as they think it hasn't been shipped yet and the next day its at their doorstep ya i guess I am geting too eager to get it Ok so I guess there is nothing to worry about.

Need Help Wiring a 2 0hm dd9515g down to 1 ohm
Bob345 replied to TonydaBully's topic in General Audio
The sub comes with 2 sets of wires welded to it. Thats the first time I've seen a sub like this. One pair is red and the other pair is black. Both the reds are fused together and both the blacks are as well. It appears to be at 1 ohm but the guy I bought it from said it is at 2 ohms and the only way to get it to 1 is to send it too DD directly and they will wire it down and charge me $120!! to do so. WTF right? The sub sounds alrite but I know it will hit a lot harder at a 1 ohm load. And sorry, but I don't have a camera to post the pics to show how it looks. Any advice? mesure it as it is and if it says 2 ohms, your out of luck it's probably a dual 4 ohm and it is imosible to wire it down to one without a second sub. You need a dual 2 ohm coil
