i know i said the getting loud is most important to me..but did i ever ask which subs was going to be louder?no im asking if the 3512 and the level 4 12 would be comparable subs.
-
sorry if it seems like another this vs that thread. I was just wondering if they were on the same level. And talking about performance..getting loud is the most important to me.

Hey guys, i've been thinking about upgrading to a different sub, but i cant decide what i want. Right now i have a SSD 12, which i am very happy with sq wise, and it does get decently loud, but not as loud as i would like. Im looking to stay with the 1 12 set up, or possibly 1 15, so what would you guys say would be a good choice to get as loud as possible. I've been thinking maybe a BL or something similar. I would like to keep the price around 400 or under. Thanks.

Alright, well i think this is the way im going to go. Anyone know someone that wants a SSD 12 d1 or a kicker zx750?haha
-
when you say everything, what exactly do you mean? Starting battery, battery in the back and big 3? well im going to have to buy another amp anyway, because my current one isn't 1 ohm stable. There is to many things to chose from..why cant i just have them all!
-
alright..well i could get an amp the did about 1000-1200 at 2ohm and run the bl at 2 ohm for awhile while i upgraded the electrical and then bought the BTL to run at 1 ohm..sound like an okay plan?
-
alright..i guess i'll just have to think it over for awhile..the BTL is more appealing to me, but that would also mean more cash spent on electrical, where as a BL on 1000 watts could be ran on a basically stock electrical with the big 3 right?
-
alright..now comparing a fully loaded BL to a fully loaded BTL..is the BTL really worth the $100+ difference?
-
Sorry i wasnt very specific. I am willing to run more power, but having to go all out on a H/O alt and batteries is kind of out of my price range. I could possibly be able to afford one or the other eventually though.
-
i would really like to keep the one 12 setup..I like seeing peoples reactions when they see its only 1 12 lol..i also though about a btl, but to feed it the full 2k wouldn't i need to get a H/O alt, and possibly a second batt? And i didnt really think about a SSD 15, do you think that it would be noticeable enough over a SSD 12 to be worth it?

hey guys..im about to order some 1/0 to do the big 3 in, and was wondering if it was worth the extra money to buy welding cable, or if knu 1/0 would do the same thing. Im only asking because i've heard some people say bad things about knu because its not pure copper. Also..do you think 15 feet would be enough..its on a 01 cavalier. Thanks!
-
well it just going into my cavalier with stock electrical, and im running a SSD on 750 watts so i hope the KLMX will still do the job.
-
alright..i've got the klmx wiring kit and i havent had any problems with it either..i was just wondering why there were some people that are always hating on it. i guess i'll be ordering that pretty soon.
-
sounds like to got a pretty good deal being able to do your big 3 just with the wire from the 1/0 kit lol..i think im just going to stick with getting 15 feet to be safe..im pretty sure that it will be more then enough, and even if i do have some left over, i got a buddy thats going to be doing his big 3 pretty soon so im sure we could find a use for it there. But again, will the klmx be fine to use, or sound i got a different route?
-
im pretty sure its right on top too..i'll go look in a little bit. So would the KLMX not be a good idea to use, or would it still do the job?
-
i hope you love that 15 as much as i love my 12!

Yes, a d3100. check with XS about fitment. also Those batteries can be mounted anywhere they fit. even on its side in the trunk. Different size batteries have different "group" sizes. group 31 is the largest amp/hours most companies sell. alright..so say i bought a d3100. Should i use it to replace the factory battery? or keep the factory battery and use the d3100 in the trunk as a second battery?

Hey guys..im having a little trouble with my sub right now..right when i start the car up, everything is fine..but after a little while it seems like the sub gets quieter. Sometimes it will play normal for 5-10 mins, and sometimes it will only last for a minute of less. I have no idea what could be causing this. Anyone have an idea?
-
alright..well it looks like i'll be purchasing some 1/0 in the near future. but on the battery question again..what exactly is a group 31 size battery?
-
Alright..thanks. And which grounds are you talking about? are there other important ones besides the battery ground, and the amp ground? Would it be okay to run 0 gauge for the amp ground if im only running 4 gauge power wire?
-
alright..i get paid friday and plan on doing the big 3. This should help with the voltage drops right? edit: Steve, what do you mean by a group 31 size battery? Sorry, this is my first really set up, and i've never had to mess with batteries before. Would this be like a XS D3100? And should it be used in the factory spot, or as a second battery in the back?
-
the voltage stays around 13.8 when the subs arent on, and drops as low as 12.5 when its all the way up. I dont think its the RCA's coming out. I just got everything set up friday night and it was doing the same thing on my buddies amp i was borrowing, and its still doing it on mine now. It stays like that until the car is turned off and sits for a couple minutes. The HU is a pioneer. Im not sure of the exact model number though. And when i say it gets quieter, i dont mean that its a lot quieter. It still hits hard enough to fold the rear view down, but the change is enough to be noticed my ear.

Hey guys..im not really sure if this is the right section to put this in, so if its not fell free to move it. Well tonight i got all my wires ran through my car for the new sub. We got everything ran, amp hooked up, sub hooked up, and it all worked perfect. The sub sounded fine. I went out for a little drive with a couple buddies, and we had the music up at a decent volume just to here how loud the bass could get. When we got back to my house we sat and listen to it for a little bit longer doing the same thing. Car was running the whole time. I went to get into the car to change to a different song and i noticed that my check gauges light was on, and that the temperature gauge was maxed out. Do you think that the car running that hot could have anything to do with the sub and amp at all? Im pretty lost on this whole thing so any and all ideas are welcome. a litttle info on the car and system.. 2001 Cavalier 12 inch Fi SSD D1 was running on an alpine MRP-M1000 at 2 ohms 4 guage Knu wires completely stock electrical Big 3 have not been done yet. Thanks!

Head unit problem

How did you wire up the voltage meter? Red to power, blue to remote, and black to ground.
