I thought about it. But the Xcons are awesome as it is. I am going to try and sell my 12" Xcons, but I can always just get them reconed to 18s.
-
So the box is about 1 cubic foot not counting the port? Is this counting sub displacement also? The problem with adding the port would be less overall volume of the box. The port would work in theory but it sounds like it would be a small box. I see Fi recommends 1.2 cubic feet. I guess you wouldn't be far off from that. I use those PSP ports all the time and they are easy to use/cut. If it was me personally, I would redesign a box to use with that 3" aero or possibly a 4" aero.

Thank you I appreciate it. Stay tuned 18" Xcons coming soon. Yeah when I bought this one the new ones (2004-2009) just came out. I was looking at both of them on the lot and decided to get this one. I think they look alot better also. I have had nothing but good luck with mine. It just turned 75k and I have only had to do general maintenance to it. Never has it been in the repair shop.

What size fuse would you guys recomend? You have 0 gauge wire so I would use a 250-300 amp fuse.
-
You are correct in what to wire, except I would run the engine ground to the battery but I think it should work either way Leave your existing wires. I fuse the alternator to battery wire, it is there to protect the wire. It is not necessarily needed. Soldering is pretty easy. It helps if you have a vise or something that can help hold the wire so you can work with both hands. Heat up the wire terminal with your soldering iron and take the solder and place it on the wire and watch it melt into the wire. This is your first time so practice on some scrap wire first. Me personally, I use a small torch because it is faster and easier to me to melt the solder into the wire. Good luck

This is the farthest I read on your post. Good luck. If you want true sound quality why do you need a 18"?

I need a good link for some tones to set the gain right

Go to the tech section on this site. There are one minute test tones from 20-100hz. -

Set your gains on your amp to where you want them. Before you plug in the control knob set it to max. This way you can only turn the gain down on the knob and when the knob is at max it is set to optimal settings. -

for sale thread/section on SSA
S.DeYoung replied to Shogen's topic in News, Announcements, and Lobby
I like the for sale section. I agree it needs the SOLD button or at least the thread be deleted when everything is sold. I have sold a few things on here the last couple of months and the thing I hate the most is the " If I had the money I would buy these" posts. Yeah no shit if you HAD the money . Post dumping is what bothers me the most. -
Not to pick on the OP but this question "stupid" for a lack of a better word. It also gets asked way to many times. Install dependent is the biggest factor. Tuning your box to 32hz will achieve "the lows." I agree with Audibel Customs with what they suggested, problem is you need to find a used Icon or wait a little longer for the new ones to come out.

Its a d2 it came from marks build.. Posting from a phone?lol ... DBL POST FTL !! Well then you should have enough headroom/wattage to run one AQ2200 @ 1Ohm and be good to go... How do you have the amps setup now? its not installed yet?Im gonna go with 2 12 xcons cant i do 1sub per amp? Get d2 coils, strap the amps together and wire them in series/parallel for a final 2ohm load Like this

Two 12s in an optimal box is better than one 18 in a small box
