    two 18" BTL's build

and i got two AQ 2200D's http://yfrog.com/j6imag0090fj http://yfrog.com/9fimag0091ej and coming soonn i plan to either build a walled off box or an up fire box, i still am waiting for my HO alt a 350 amp from alternatorparts.com 350 amp alt with external outboard rectifying bridge! and im going to have 7 yellow top optimas cuz i have MADD hookup on yellow tops for brand new $50 bucks a yellow top from my cuzin! im probably going to use 2/0 awg power and ground wire , its welding wire lol 00 AWG (-1 AWG) wire haha but i might just use two strands of zero. only thing im not sure about is if i should run a relay inbetween each battery to limit current, or if i should just parallel all batteries together , or run all of em independant off the HO Alt. tell me what you think box will be tuned to 32-36 hz im not too sure cuz i dont know how to account for large amounts of resin bracing on the walls of the box.
  3. ok i have 2 fi btl 18's, 2 cresendo 3kwp, 2 xs power 3100's, iraggi amputator 300a, big three. i jus have NEVER heard of anyone putting an 18" btl in a 9.5NET or bigger cu. ft. box per sub everrr!! and i dont really know what optimal its gunna be daily driver, i want as much SPL AS I CAN GET AT LOWER FREQUENCIES such as, i wanted to tune port at 32hz. HOW MUCH PORT AREA PER CU. FT.? i kno im a noob i on this forum but i know wat im doin everything except box specs. i was thinking up fire subs bo dimensions, 45"width x 41" depth x 24" height INTERNTAL DIMENSIONS ARE 42"width 38"depth 21"height, btw i was going to use two layers of 3/4" mdf all way around so total of 1.5" mdf basically. and doin port at bottom horizontally firing towards hatch i was thinkin port 42"port width x 6.5" port height x twenty something port length to get me down to 32hz and i think thats around 300 cubic inches of port area. and i really need help because ive NEVER HEARD OF PEOPLE USING THESE subs daily in a hugeeee box like this with a huge port. because i see steve meade rocks 4 of em in only 20ish cu. ft.... so i need help thanks a lott in advanceee!!

    2 BTL 18s HELPPPPPPPPPP PLEASEEEEESEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

ok well thanks for all the pointers and dnt rlly appreciate the down talk.. and just because i dont know everything about ported enclosures doesnt mean I AM A noob... btw 10 cu. ft. a sub is on fi's website recommended ha. but so i should build it bout 7.5 or 8 cu ft a a sub net sence ill be putting 3000wats rms to each? and say i do that what would u guys reccomend for port in square inches?? i guess i could go 260ish" squared for port area since (8^2)x16 is like 256, and i dont wanna hear port noise due to port velocity just because port is too small or something ya kno? and why is everyone so picture crazed? its not a big deal its just pictures and when everythings done or at least close ill use my hard earned money to go out and buy a camera/video phone since everyone lives for pictures nowadays haha. just an fyi im not just some faggot that goes on this forum and asks questions and got "inspired" by steve , i mean steve is bad ass, but fuck i did my research on it and fi btl was basically the most for the money same with the amps, batterys will cost regardless and same with alternator unless i got the alt respun by an alternator speicalist.

    2 BTL 18s HELPPPPPPPPPP PLEASEEEEESEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

well i dont really need 10 cu. net each sub. but im ask wat should i shoot for net cubic footage a sub? and im asking wat would the effects be of putting them in around 10 cu. ft. net a sub compared to like 7 cu. ft. a sub???

    2 BTL 18s HELPPPPPPPPPP PLEASEEEEESEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

honestly no pics because i spend all the money on the equipment,so no cameraat least not yet. sorry to disapoint.. but im only a noob at designing ported enclosures. all the other stuff ive been doing for 5 yrs. i jus always bought custom boxs. but does any know if the btls will sound different if in 10cu. ft. a sub net? its just everyones got other priorites with building a ported box for em, and everyone usually asks whats the smallest you can go, or they try to fit a freakin 18 btl in there trunk.. ive just always seen everyonw put em in 7.5 net a net to 8 cu. ft. net a sub...
  7. hey how much would a ported, double baffled, (external dimensions 33" Depth X 23.5" Height X 45" Width) i believe that about 16 cu. ft external, with carpet, and i live in arizona so that aint far at all. ABOUT how much? BTW, what thickness of mdf would you use? do u have 1.00" mdf?

box design help 2 btl 18's

i have two btl 18 fully loaded daily, im getting two cresendo audio 3kwp's amps, only part i dont know how and where to design the port at i want the port tuned to 32 hz, im doing the subs up firing , my external max dimensions are 45" W x 33" D x 23.5" H. i need help with port design and/or placement as in a port type crx, slot port, ect ect... which one do you guys think will have most output and will coincide with my box dimensions. . p.s. do you guys think the XS power 3100 is a good battery to run with this setup? along with the yellow top under the hood.

I Have a XXXXXXX watt sytem. What battery do I need?

i was going to buy one but wasent sure if i needed TWO or just one. i have a yellow top under the hood. im going to be having TWO cresendo 3KWP amps and ohm load ill be running them at is 1 ohm each amp. i have 2 fi btl 18's. it will be used for daily setup so i will not just be burping the subs. EACH amp will put out around 3.5k (rms) we'll say at 13.8volts

box design help 2 btl 18's

oh and one more question since im having two btl 18's in a ported box the recommendations for one sub is 5-10 cu. ft. ,so for two subs it would be 10-20 cu.ft. now would it be ok if because port design makes internal cuft. of box around 12 cu. ft.? and would it still be considered a around a 16 cu. ft. box since its about 16 cu. ft. including the port space so basically what im asking is do you calculate the port space in with the internal box space to see how it matches up to the recommendations? thanks for all the help in advanced!!
  13. i just ordered two fi btl 18s fully loaded like two days ago and have been researching all about them great subs is what ive been hearing, but im going to build my own ported box for them and have tryed using the t/s parameters listed on fi's website and i plug them in my bass box pro 6 and my winiSD and the programs basically end up saying that fi's t/s parameters are incorrect, because after ive typed in all listed parameters it says recommend internal size 5.25 cu. ft for two of the 18's i dont know whats wrong... and what do you guys think would be best box design and port design for 2 btl 18 fully loaded dual 2 ohms, 4 hifonics brz 1700.1D amps (amp per voice coil) ((dont worry gunna tune amps with O-scope)), 4 yellow top optimas all zero gauge back, high out put alt (not sure which brand and what the amperage should be yet), here is the room i got to work with for a box at max (externally) i basically measured for up fire but i dont know if that would hit the hardest compared to rear fire or walled off, 45" box width x 33" box depth x 23.5" box height. and i wanted port tuned to 32 hz. so if any of you guys know a better program or if you guys think its just the wrong listed fi btl 18 t/s parameters, in advanced thanks for all and any help.

by the way this is going into an suv, a chevy trailblazer, if that helps any.. thank you all for all the help!!!

HELP! T/S parameters on fi btl 18's arent correct?

and do you think with that small of a port compared to the length i think the ratio is like 9 to 1 if its 9 to 1 or 10 to 1 or higher ive heard that port noise will occur. also with all those box specs and port specs do you think the woofer would be unloading? because i rlly cant afford to mess the woofers up ya kno?..

HELP! T/S parameters on fi btl 18's arent correct?

ok new calculations look good, but i see a flaw, which is ok external 45"W x 33"D x 23.5"H works fine... no need to shorten depth down because your calculations are basically for the side, inwhich you'd need to shorten width if it was placed port on bottom of the side peice of wood (subs up still).. right? and you think i need 3" in front of the port for breathing room?

HELP! T/S parameters on fi btl 18's arent correct?

subs offset (not out of phase or anything) i just simply mean not everything not in a linear line as in port vertical and two subs straight across , as compared to port vertical and subs diagonally alined.

HELP! T/S parameters on fi btl 18's arent correct?

by the way with that last set up you gave me while the port up subs up, port at 5.5" (remember, only the sub cut out is 16.75, the actual ring around the subs is 18.5") and just using the sub cut out which is 16.75 each equals 33.5" and actual size of piece of wood on top including everything ill only have exactly 1" inbetween the outside port wall and sub cut out and 1" inbetween sub to sub cut out and 1" inbetween sub and wall.... which means it wont fit because actual size of ring for mount the screws in the sub ring measures at a diameter of 18.5"....

HELP! T/S parameters on fi btl 18's arent correct?

by the way i was thinking to do it subs up port up but subs like offset so they get more room i just dont know how to do the math on that one and basically i dont know how to figure out how much space i gain from that. hah

HELP! T/S parameters on fi btl 18's arent correct?

thanks lol. but yea if you could that'd be helpful! cause thats the problem is i dont know exactly where i want the port, i was thinking on the side of the box maybe also, like subs up firing and port coming from the side wall and goes underneath subs parallel with top and bottom peice of wood on box, but i dont know haha thanks for your help again!!

HELP! T/S parameters on fi btl 18's arent correct?

ok ill take your opinion on it, but saying i do it subs up port up, how do i fit both subs plus an 8" port also on the same side (aka TOP Peice of wood) ...?? because if the top peice of wood is 45"x33" so therefore when box is together ill have 43"W x 31"H total for usable space.. sub cut out is 16.75" and the sub rim is 18.75" so take sub cut out (both subs) 33.5" thats only 9.5" left and if i wanted a 8" port i'd have no room...?

HELP! T/S parameters on fi btl 18's arent correct?

basically im not sure how to explain it, but up firing subs as in subs mounted on the peice of wood that would be cut out to 45"x33". if that helps any...
