Sure, why not, just make a note of it in your order! Wow, you are a great man. Thank you sir. You have a great site and I will proudly wear and show off the subs/shirt! How should I note it in my order? Just a reminder? Quote this? Thanks.

So, if I bought a shirt, SSA supporter # 1, and 2 DCON's, does that mean I get free shipping?

Alternator vs Second battery
lightingman117 replied to orlandoman's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
First, I would suggest reading Newbie Rules and Newbie Sign in Before you get flamed ("flamed" might not be the right word) for general not obeying rules you agreed to upon signing up. Second, which would be addressed if you had read the rules. What are you trying to accomplish? Less dimming? Have you done the big 3? What kind of amperage draw do you have? Whats the setup? Things like this are much needed info so you get the best possible answer. Not trying to be mean just trying to save M5 from having to moderate people's threads. As per your question. It really depends on how much you're willing to spend. Alternator will keep voltage up while the car is running. 2 Batteries will allow you to run longer without car running. And alt+bat will allow you to run longer with extremely high amperage pull before you have to shut it down and let the alternator recharge the batteries. -
Well volume is controlled by the signal voltage. By splitting the signal you are essentially running two devices in parallel. Halving the resistance. When you do this to remain at the same voltage by V=I*R the current has to double. All you are really doing is forcing the source to increase current flow to keep the same voltage. So, you don't change the voltage (volume) only current draw from source. This can increase distortion, but has no effect on volume. You can demonstration this yourself by splitting the signal from your source and unplugging one side of the split notice how the volume doesn't change.

I've always viewed adding to be better than replacing. If you add and later on you decide to sell you can take all the wiring out without anything bad happening. 1/0 is expensive and always nice to have around. If you had replaced everything it'd be a lot harder to get everything back. That and adding = next to zero resistance because you have a 1/0 + 8-4awg wire.

I always thought it was Keep It Simple Stupid, More to come... Well, if you want to encourage others by bringing them down "stupid" might work. Otherwise, if you want to build others up "saint" is more productive. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. -Proverbs 15:1 No, i'm not gonna go crazy religious on you. But, there is some great wisdom in the Bible that we all could live our lives by and be better off.

It sure is coming along nicely. I'll agree, not having some stupid computer tell me something is wrong with nothing will be great. KISS -Keep It Simple Saint. Waiting for more pics.

I just did the big 3 on my cavalier build and I bought the connectors off of ebay for 5.25 x2 free shipping I believe. And yes 5/16 is pretty standard everywhere except major connection points like on The engine or battery if you have the gm screw on type batt connector. I got around this by shaving off the inside a little or drilling it out. The alternator lead should definitely be upgraded an 80A+ alternator doesn't need 8 or 10 awg wire resistance when trying to run a couple hundred amps. I have never seen an s10's engine bay up close but I'm sure that the braided wire is it. Mine was a 4awg wire that went to the transmission right by the starter. Hope this helps good luck.

I agree x2. Awesome build, I'm going to use the perfection here and transfer it to my 04 cavvy. And hopefully do some sort of father/son project won't be near as nice because neither of us have any experience doing installs, but I am going to gleen as much knowledge from the ssa forums and people like you to help with my build. Thanks for all the great detail, time, and elbow greese! Thanks so much for the kudos!!! I think it's great you & your Dad want to do a build together, just try your best to lay out a plan and then execute with patience. You guys are not that far a away from us, if you need some type of help let us know maybe we can get together. Yeah, sure I'd love to meet-up and see some nicer builds. I've never been able to see an actual system installed and it'd be great to see yours. My build wont be near as nice as your's but I would like a 1/2 decent build. Something to take with me to college and pop the trunk and not be ashamed.

First of all. Hi. I'm new here. Wanted to make this Friday a little less boring. So I took a turn too hard and one wire hit another and +12v straight from the battery went into my JVC KD-G310 CD Receiver this is what happens: Public Facebook pictures link So yeah, I was being an idiot and didn't wire-nut the ends of my amplifier speaker sends when I took my subs out. I know I should have, don't me. But these are some pics enjoy!

I found it looking for Incriminator Audio subwoofers for my car bcause I knew there was better for less than mainstream...JL (I sell for $439.95) So I found a retailer (y'all), and now I want to learn more about sound and such and y'all's forums is such a great place. I've delved into reading countless threads. So hopefully I wont make an idiot out of myself as I incorporate myself into the SSA community

Wow, guys. Nice job so far. Subed and will be waiting for updates every day. I do have one question though why a HEI and carb? Why not go with fuel injection? Though, in all honesty: (or start)
