If my stock alt was a 75 amp alt and long term goal is to run 3000rms audio would the 250 amp alternator be enough? or for better understanding whats the highest rms system that alternator can handle?

to keep pieces lined up kinda like a helper and of most boxes I seen they have screws throughout box. Granted I went a little overboard on screws but was told I could space them out about four inches apart. I'm going to bet getting those long clamps as my tool collection grows. The clamps I have are those angled corner ones so they weren't really putting pressure on the joints. Thanks for advice.

I built a box and used those 45" clamps to hold it pieces in place then quickly pre drilled and then set screws ( i had two drills) mopped up glue that came out as screws tightened down then I let it dry over night. I used elmers carpenter glue but I'm going to try out that tight bond out on my next box.

Just to put this out there for anyone else that would like to know on pricing, amps, and idle output correct me if I am wrong. 150amp $475 idle 100amp 200amp $549 idle 130amp 250amp $600 idle 160amp I got these numbers awhile back not sure if they are still the same but hope it helps none the less and Please correct me if this list isn't in use anymore. http://4xspower.com/old/application.php

Thanks Nathan!

I have been stuck on XS alts 200 amp or 250 amp for the long haul I am also wondering what total rms the 200 amp can handle.

I have a ported design for the 12's I have right now made by fallen from www.nightmareaudio.com and its at 4 cubes for the 12's so I was going off this sites Ported: 4.0 cu.ft. @ 26-33hz opt. for the 15's

been looking at the xcon series 12's or 15's I'm around 1000rms right now with two 12's but been wanting 15's for awhile even if I have to go one at a time. I just want to make sure 250 amp alt is going to be enough for my long term goals and finally giving what I already have all the power it needs.

SAZ 3500D have been a rockford fan for awhile but by the end of this for me most likely end up with this.
-
yes sir, 3000rms will be it for this car lol wife is on baby number four so here comes a suburban lol!

XS alt will do about 160 at idle straight from Nathan himself. My car is a manual transmission no AC no power windows or locks 98 Hyundai accent hatchback. I really don't like bugging people for things unless my wallet can finish the deal aside from that Nathan said just to give them a ring when I'm ready. and from the looks of the xcons I will most likely working my way up to a pair and of course an amp to push them.
-
$600 I have looked at several other alt makers and none make anything for my hooptie lol it's not a popular car at all so I was glad to find one from them. I had talked to Nathan awhile back (months) but as the year is getting closer to ending I feel closer than ever to getting this for future proofing my setups. I'm trying hard not to end up with a buch of amps and subs laying around.

I have big 3 and 1/0 power running to back of car right now as well as a XS power s3400 under the hood. I have been saving for this alternator as thankfully it will bolt onto my car. Just wanted to get a general idea of how far I could go. I already had it planned to add another battery in the back too.

I just dont understand

makes sense thanks -
what did you use to crimp connections?

I just dont understand

Why can't you just stick DMM into amp with the speakers connected? -

Does this mean the whole chart is worthless? -
As the title says hello everyone! hope to learn a ton while I'm here see you guys around!

Someone else said that chargers do 15 to 16v to "stimulate" the battery and from my own personal use my charger will keep it around 15v for less than 5 minutes and then keeps a steady charge around 13 to 14v until its done. just keep an eye on the time and voltage. They explain how the battery can "gas" if charged longer than 5 minutes at 15v and once it "gases" you can't replace what you lose.
-
I'm just swinging in the dark but is volume on your ipod all the way up before you turn up volume knob at the radio?
-
If it has 12v AGM setting put it on that and if it has a button to choose sizes I would put it to medium to large battery and make sure it doesn't go past 15v.

My charger has its own meter built in but I still stay on top of the voltage with a DMM at the terminals. I'm going to type from the original caution page that comes with my new XSpower battery, hopefully this can help people understand things a little better. I would assume this practice applies to other AGM brands. CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION! Proper Charging is crucial! Charge before initial use! - It is very important that proper charging techniques be used when charging AGM batteries. AGM batteries are designed for use with AGM battery chargers with MAXIMUM output voltage of 2.4 volts per cell (14.4v for 12v batteries, 16.8 for 14v batteries and 19.2v for 16v batteries). AT NO TIME during charging should the battery be subjected to more than 2.4 volts per cell. Voltages above this will cause the battery to "gas" and once the oxygen is vented it cannot be restored. - Under-charging AGM batteries is equally damaging to the life of the battery. Take special care to ensure that the battery is properly charged before the initial use by verifying the open circuit voltage is above 2.1 volts per cell (12.6v for 12v batteries, 14.7 for 14v batteries, and 16.8 for 16v batteries). Improper charging can cause that is permanent and will VOID THE WARRANTY. If you are unsure if your charger is AGM compatible, please contact the XS Power Tech Support Department at 855-688-5953, or email us at [email protected] for more details. Do Not Over-tighten Battery Terminals! Whether using the automotive post adaptors, bolts or screws, the tightening torque should never exceed 8 ft-lbs max on any XS Power battery! There is also another paper that comes with is brand of battery and it says, Care of XS Power 12-volt AGM Battery 1) Charge voltage is not to exceed 14.4 total for extended periods of time (5 min. max)* 2) The charger used MUST HAVE an automatic shut-off. *Some AGM chargers may climb to a maximum voltage of 15.5VDC for a short period of time ( usually less than 5 min.) but will resume charging at or near 14.4 VDC _+_ .3 VDC for the duration of the charge cycle. for ease of use they recommend using the XS Power IntelliCHARGER p/n 1005

Thats exactly what me and OP want to experience and it looks like a great hobby

so that and some clamps, glue, and screws pretty much covers it? Skill saw is the table or handheld version?

Can anybody make a list of the basic tools that will get you by in a build?
