ok so i was just browsing some older topics today and realized that i have a wire kinda out of whack. im not sure if it is hurting or helping me or if it even has any effect at all. the blue wire (line) in the pic is the wire im referring to. its from my alternator negative to the negative on my second battery in the back. i have no idea what was going through my mind when i hooked it up like this but if im not mistaken, isnt it doing the same thing as if it were the negative on my battery up front to my battery in the back? also, one of my other questions was should i be running a power wire from the + on my alt to the + on my batteries in the back?? the way the pic is is how my wires are right now.

hey thanks a lot fellas! sefugi, i totally forgot to add in spots for the fuses lol. they are there on my truck i just forgot to put them in the diagram lol. btw thanks for the props to both of you. it took me like 10 minutes to do and it even helped me notice some things when i made it.

dude I'm in love with the all black with the chrome rims. I was supposed to be getting my 22s this weekend until my starter went out and I found out I need a new intake gasket lol great build man keep it up!!!

im wanting to step my subwoofer game up to 2 nightshade 15's. currently i have 4 rockford fosgate p3 12's in a ported box tuned to 37-38hz powered by a sundown 3500. i have 2 interstate batterys in the back and an optima red top up front, 200 amp alt, big 3 in 0 awg, 1 run of + and - 0 awg to the back. all this is in a 4 door chevy blazer. right now my 12's are doing 147.2 at 46hz and they stay in the high 146's on music. my main question is if i upgrade to 2 nightshade 15's and put them in a 6.5 cuft box ported to 32-34hz, will there be an audible difference in sound? my good buddy brought up this point to me. i just want to be sure itll be louder before i go spend 1000 bucks on subs. ive been really impressed with vids i have seen of nightshade 15's and have no doubt that they will go 150+ on more power which is my long term plan edit: i can post pics of current setup if need be

hey ku40, what did you do to your knee that your recovering from? Just about a year and a half ago now i tore my ACL MCL both miniscus, had multiple microfractures ( doctors estimated about 12 of them ) and very severe bone bruising. Had surgery on it february of 08. i was in therapy for about 8 months for it and now the only time it hurts is when it rains lol. edit: Ran 3 miles around the park this morning, planning on going to play some basketball later this afternoon

so in my blazer my current setup right now is 4 p3 fosgate 12s on one sundown 3500. my box is a little under 8 cuft tuned to 37ish hz. my score was a 147.2 and it peaked at 46hz. I'm fairly pleased with what it did considering when we clamped the amp for my second run, I did the same score but the amp was only doing 1863 watts!? I'm pretty sure that my alt might have something wrong with it that's why the power wasn't there. well what do you guys thiink? is it a respectable score?

its wired to 1 ohm. I have no clue about the rise. ipersonally believe it has a 148+ in it. at least I hope it does lol

how much you want for your shades ?

So im happy to say that ive made up my mind and instead of squeezing 2 HDC3 15's in my truck im gonna go with 2 nightshade 15's since they like smaller boxes. My question is when are they going to be back in stock in the ssa store and are they gonna be the v2 or v1 or both? Has there been any word on how much the v2 is gonna cost?

ttt. anyone have any more input?
-
so im about 97% set on getting 2 audioque hdc3 15s and seen there was an option for copper coils and one for aluminum coils. what is the difference in them performance wise?
-
ok i cant seem to manage to give the 2 15's the space they need to get down the most i could give them being about 3.5 cuft per sub after displacement. do you guys think it would be ok to build an enclosure at like 3.5 cubic feet per sub for the 15's? being that the sundown 3500 is such a beast of an amp i have to have room to mount that and also i have 2 batterys in the back and am looking at getting 2 more that i have to give some space to too. if you guys dont think thats ok then my second option is going with 2 btl 12's. id much rather have the hdc3's cause their much cheaper than the btls and ive heard from a few people now that they get damn near as loud as the btls. i could really use some help on this.

GMC, ive been trying to rework the dimensions of the box. it wont fit in my available space lol my max dimensions are 37.5 wide X 31.5 deep X 16 tall. if you could help me out reworking the numbers to fit my space that would be helpful!!
-
bangingmc, that is sweet as shit that you have a sketchup of a design for the subs. dude you dont know how much id appreciate that cut list lol do you know the dimensions of the box by chance and ill be getting the 15's just for future reference. also thanks alot everyone for clearing up the original question. ill be going with the copper coils for now, maybe when i get my second 3500, upgrade to the aluminum.
-
im gonna be running both of them off of one sundown 3500 at 1 ohm. i guess that means id need the copper coils correct?
-
i dont understand then. which is better the copper or the aluminum coils. why is the aluminum coil like 60 dollars more then the copper coil on the hdc3 15?? im so lost lol
-
ok so in my blazer i had a rockford t1500 and four punch p3 12's in a correctly built ported box. i just got my new sundown 3500 and hooked it up and it is no where near as loud as my old t1500 was. i have ajusted the eq settings on the amp and everything properly and i have to turn my headunit ALL the way up with all the bass options all the way up for it to even be kinda loud. i know for a fact i have missed something here cause this amp should be raping my p3's. i have extra batterys in the back, the big 3, all 0 awg wire, my subs are wired down to 1 ohm right, H/O alt....etc. should i bridge the speaker terminals, like one positive channel and one negative? i need some help here cause this is frustrating me. This is how it is currently set up. can someone plz explain to me what im doing wrong.

btw you guys are super quick at responding!!!!

ok guys heres the verdict lol i checked everything i could have possibly checked without having all the funky lil electronic gadgets. and everything was wired right. its not a problem with the amp but with the wired gain remote. when i unplugged the remote from the amp it got retarded loud!!!! i have to say im really relieved to find out that it was nothing mechanically wrong with the amp. i really appreciate all the help, support, and ideas you guys came up with. i checked everything i possibly could and low and behold it was the very last thing i checked. now my next question is do i contact the ssa store for the remote or do i try to get into contact with sundown or should i just let it go and now worry about the remote?
-
ok well im going to my parents house for dinner then ill come back and check the wires. i need to take a break from this, its starting to gett to me. thanks alot everyone for all the help and i will update this thread in a couple hours and let you guys know of any changes

my box is tuned at 36 hz and its 8.5 cubes net. also no i have no access to a dmm until monday. i just went outside and cranked the gain all the way and turned everything on my hu all the way up and it got fairly louder but still not as loud as it should be. im gonna get ahold of my buddy gene and see if he wants to mess around with it a bit. him and his cousin eric are pretty good with helping me out. maybe they can figure out what is going on, after all they do have a few world records lol in the meantime, could this be a problem inside the amp or something of that nature?
-
^^^^^^^this. ill bet money its this or the outputs i have the rca's plugged in to the top left and bottom left inputs im pretty sure thats right correct? also yes as of now i just guessed on the gains. i cant get ahold of an o scope or anything of the sort until monday. but my point is, it should still put out sound lol its not even close to being as loud as my t1500 was on my subs.

so what should i do?
