  1. Decent EQ, ipod and usb connectivity.. atleast 3 preouts including sub. All 3 have the features I need.. curious if there's any noticeable sound quality different between Clarion and Alpine? Never owned a clarion unit, always had Pioneer.
  2. Damn nearly 100 views and no replies
  3. Narrowed head unit selection to 3 choices.. Clarion vz409 Alpine 9887 Alpine ida-x305 Opinions on these 3? really liking the clarion on sale for $379.. although the 9887/ida-x305 can be had for $265 Will be running 2 ED amps, ed 9.65 comps and a 13A sub ported at 30hz

    New build recommendations.

No desire for that.. basically looking for one 12 or 15" sub to handle roughly 800-1k watts, plus components at around 100w up front.. preferably doing it on stock electrical. I've been listening to a 12" sealed ED 13k on 400w with components on 65w for the last 2 years. Moving up to what I'm looking at is going to be a huge improvement anyway

    Nothing?
  6. I listen to a wide variety of music ranging from house, deep house, electronic, metal, alternative, rap/hip-hop. Vehicle is a 2003 honda civic coupe.. sub in the trunk. Stock electrical. I have a friend with dual Kicker L5s running at 1000 watts total with his factory Durango infinity audio system..I'd like more output and more sound quality than that. The entire car has already been deadened with Edead in the trunk and front doors. I will never be competing in any competitions, but I would like accurate musical reproduction with a bonus of great output. Ideally my budget would be < $1000 for sub/amp/front stage, whether it be 1 sub or 2.. and remember I've already got amplification for the front stage whatever route is taken. Current setup sub/amp - single Elemental Designs 13K on a Nine.2 at 400w crossed at 63hz components/amp - Elemental Designs e3.65 components on a Nine.4 at 65w New plans.. I've been browsing many different subwoofers and amplifiers the last few days but really have no idea where to start. Components ED's 9.65 setup on either Nine.4 or Nine.2 amp.. prefer to run them with 100-150w Any other recommendations here are welcome but I'd like to stick to a 6.5" 2-way set and stay passive if possible to keep things simple. If I'm going to greatly improve my sound stage by going with an active setup I would be open to suggestion here. I would love to be able to put an 8" midbass in the front doors but it'd be costly to have an installer modify the doors etc. Subs SSA Dcon-Xcon line ED's 13Av.2 FI's BL or Q line ED's 19o Amps Sundown at whatever power necessary ED's Nine.1 for 1200w at 1ohm Have at it guys.. if any more information is needed I'll check back regularly.

Sub/midbass on seperate amps stopped working?

Probably won't have time to play with things til atleast Sunday.. I've actually been considering upgrading everything anyway. I'd like to move up to either an ED 13Av.2 with a Nine.1 or possibly even check out FI's Q with a Sundown amp. I'll start a thread in the subwoofer section with budget, install details, etc soon. Thanks for the continued help guys.

Sub/midbass on seperate amps stopped working?

Yep that matters. Generally that happens because a lead under the cone is broken and when you push it, you momentarily reconnect the lead. Sounds like you clipped the piss out of them and the lead burned on the sub and the mids. Been there, done that. You'll need to ensure your electrical system is providing a constant 12-14v and that you have your gains correctly set. Interesting.. gains on both amps aren't even 1/4 of the way up and they haven't been adjusted in 2 years. Weird how it took out the midbass and the sub at the same time. So where do I go from here.. new component and sub setup? thanks much for the quick help everyone

Sub/midbass on seperate amps stopped working?

It's a Pioneer head unit with front/rear pre-outs.. the components are all wired up to the nine.4 on the front preout and the sub is on the nine.2 and rear preout. amps are powering up fine and not going into protect, have never gone into protect in the 2 years i've had the setup... this is the first issue i've ever had with any of it ** not sure if this matters... but if i gently push on the cone of the sub, it'll start playing for a few seconds then quit again.
  10. Looking on advice as to what to look at first for this issue.. Basically out of nowhere I have no sub output or midbass output. ED components on a nine.4 and ED sub on a nine.2.... Not sure why I'd lose midbass and sub output and yet the tweeters are fine... Any suggestions on where to start looking?
