Difference between 4" and 3" voice coil?

thanks im only running just over 1000w rms so il probably be good with the 3"
  2. I am going to order a new Fi BL 15 and I noticed there is a new option to choose between a 4" and 3" coil. What is the difference and which will I want for my daily setup.
  3. oh really haha ya the RCA cables are unplugged now but I won't be able to find a sub to test on till tomorrow. There was also like 6 or 7 metal screws that were holding the woofer in that were rolling around loose in the box with the wires. Hopefully no damage done. What should I look for when I test it? If it powers the sub is that good enough or should I get it bench tested at my local car audio store to be safe because the warranty is up at the end of this month.
  4. The bare wires are just laying in the box is that bad?
  5. I just recently sent my subwoofer out to be repaired. I have 2 amps in my car 1 Boston for my speakers and 1 hifonics Brutus 1610 d class amp. I was playing music through my speakers but I didn't realize my Brutus RCA cables were still plugged in and it is getting power. Have I damaged my amp by playing music with no woofer hooked up the past few days?
  6. Hi, my Fi 15" BL has recently stopped working. Today i got it tested at my local car audio shop. They told me that one voice coil is not reading a resistance and the other voice coil is reading around 25 ohms. They also told me the voice coil does not look burnt, it is still light copper in color. They also said that nothing smells burned and that the coil is not melted. My question is, does this sound like something that would be covered under warranty? Is any of this indicative of something Fi does not cover in their warranty policy? I noticed they do not cover open voice coils but the audio people i saw were not able to tell if it is open. I live far enough away that the cost of shipping to Fi, paying for the repair, and paying for the return shipping would be almost the same price as buying a new one. The sub broke while I was playing it at low volumes which i thought was odd. I never heard or smelled anything when it broke It just stopped working. I also paid to have it professionally installed. I need to know if this would be covered under warranty because otherwise I will be wasting my money sending the sub to Fi.
