I will not be competing in SPL contests, i just want LOUD bass (doesnt every basshead). The sub i will be getting is a Fi BTL either a 12 or 15, unknown due to money, I think a ported box would be the best, but my buddy told me that bandpass boxes are better. He said a 6th order box would be good, i have no idea what a bandpass or 6th order box is. Are they louder for the daily user? As stated in title, the car i currnetly have is a 2006 Toyota 4Runner, in it, i have mids and highs by pioneer, and they sound good.

Ive heard differnt things, one being that the BL is more for the daily beater and the BTL for the "competion sub" Which is better for a daily sub that will not compete in SPL contests and who wants to have LOUD music.

alright seems im getting a BTL

I will be breaking down the tools/supplies for putting a bass system into my car So what i am anticipating is tools, and making it so that i can turn my sub on and off when i am driving. Tools i have-Wrenchs, drills Tools i think i need-Soldering iron (voltage help needed) and a heatgun dunno much about these two Now for a sub on and off button or knob, this is so not ALL the time i have bass, some people may want this do not. I will be having a mono amp and i dont know if il have to solder. Now for wires: 0ga, RCA cables, i dont know if ill need 1/2ga Subs i will be getting-15" Fi BTL Amp-Undecided but either a audioque 2200D or Sundown Audio Electrical- Possibly a second battery, down the line probably a alt, i will be doing the big 3 If you have any info please tell me, ive been reading lots of articles and have found some info but stuff isnt good enough If you have some good reads or videos about subs and putting them into a car let me know Hope you can help me Sam

So i really am stumped, i dont know how to start my install. I am putting a 15" Fi BTL in my 06 4Runner. For an amp im deciding between an audioque 2200D or an Sundown 1500D, which would be more suited for my car, its battery is 12.8v and the alt puts out a wopping 75. I assume il need to prob get better electrical, i will do the big 3 in 0ga but i dont know if itll help. So basicly i dont know where to start, should i buy subs first or amp or both, Or even wire, i assume i need 0ga any other kinds? So basicly to say the least i have no idea where i should start with this amazing install ha Thanks Sam

So i checked today my battery voltage in the manual, its said it was 12.8v fully charged, this weekend into the week i am going to try and get a voltmeter, today i went to walmart, no luck. So the amps ive came down to for powering my 15" Fi BTL are: SunDown:SAZ-1000D which is $315, or maybe something with more if i can find one Audioque: 1200D or 2200D I dont want to buy or invest in an amp that is over $600 so if theres a better option please tell me. on a different note, what would an equalizer do for me,im trying to look into how to turn on and off the sub would a basic bass knob be the best? Also what are some good cheap alternators? links would be nice, i am pretty sure il need to upgrade a 75 Alt ha. Thanks Sam

Thanks a ton for this info, i was looking through my car manual, its a 4Runner 06 and i just got a new battery 3 days ago ha

Also what should be the amp numbers be, 100-200 or better? i was looking at them and now im second guessing my car year, this has been one hell of a night

Alright im gona go shopping for an alt and im gona price out batteries. I am going to look at iraggi, techman and DC if there is better let me know, i am on a budget and my car is a 2005 Toyota 4Runner

I was told that a 1000-2000 amp would not fry my battery, how could i get around an alt, prob no way, would it be a better cost to get a second battery? or a better alt, cuz it would be the first thing i would do for the install

it jus said in the manual, Fully Chargered-12.8 Half Charged-12.5 And i dont have a volt meter to get the exact number, but im trying to get one That's with vehicle off. With vehicle on i'm sure it 14+ yea i assume its around 14 also, but i think just to be on the safe side and to get more power id like to get another amp, xs or kinetic? which is the best and cheapest?

I think it should work the same way on a 5 channel if you just put a potentiometer on the RCA's. Not really related, but in Steve's T15K Escalade build, he put a RF bass knob into the lighter socket, and made the lighter into the bass knob. I thought that looked awesome. I'm going to attempt to do it on my Explorer. Can you give the link for Steve's T15K Escalade build? Steve's T15K Escalade build Haha steve meade is a pimp, yea i like his setup and where his bass knob is, i second, i want to do that to lol

Thanks a ton, il look into the links you gave me -
Looking at: SAZ1500D AQ1200D if i get a secod battery AQ2200D or SAE 1200D Now these are the ones if narrowed it down to for powering one 15" Fi BTL, now i do not know if my battery and alt can handle it, but when my car comes back from the shop il take a look and post it on here (its in the shop for oil change and new brakes). I am going to do the big 3 with 0ga possibly today or friday, ive been a lil busy. My current range money wise is prob highest for an amp is $500, my overall budget is around $1500 including wire and extra tools i dont have, my currnt money is about $890 towards the system, however i just got a better job so il have my money in about 2 weeks but im just planing here.

Amp For a 15" Fi BTL
SAMZ replied to SAMZ's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Why a 1000 wat? i was looking into my car, and my guess is i will need a extra battery most likely. In case you were wondering im putting this system into a Toyota 4Runner, i cant remember the year, i think its a 05 or 6, and it already has 1 pioneer sub in each door which i think are 8" and my headunit is a pioneer Because your stock electrical system should be able to handle that, whereas a 2200 watt amp will fry in 1 day. Do you think i should get another battery so that doesnt happend? or do something like the big 3 in 0ga? would it help? -
