Well originally I had a monster cassette adapter, worked well for 5 years, but as time went on, I got unlucky and one of my coworkers sliced the cord. So it still played, but only on the left speakers, it bugs me for a week before I decide to go to best buy and pick a new one up. Dynex or Rocket Fish? Both sound like crappy brands, lets get both! So I hook both of them up, they work, but are very quiet for some reason. I could listen to music at a normal level with them, but it required my H/U to be all the way turned up along with the ipod. So they both go back, and I go to a specialty store today, maybe 4 months after suffering with the monster one. It finally kicked the bucket 2 days ago, and now I buy a scosche. Plug it in and hear some Jeezy, what a relief. 2 seconds later, no more jeezy! Turns out it has a reel error, just what the fudge I need to deal with. try about 10 more times, and same problem. I get home, open it up, and see there is a piece of plastic molded in there that stops the gears from turning... So I get some dikes and cut it off, pop the player in and it works fine, but didn't get to test out if it gets as loud as the monster as my parents are home. Why is it that everything made today has problems? The sales guy kept saying "Everyone who gets one of these love them" and other crap like that, so I called the store back up and let him know that the tape player everyone loves is a piece of crap I had to modify for it to work out of the box. He says that maybe my cars sound system just needs some professional work done, not some hack job by an 18 year old kid who doesn't know what he is doing. I laughed at this comment. Well thats my rant, don't by scosche!

Someone should probably ask how long the run is going to be on this. How long is the wire between the amp and the sub?

Lanzar amp

I looked at lanzar amps for a while, but I decided against them because they did not seem to be all that well reviewed, and not many people have them to review them -
Xbox Live Screen Names

Ferrari12508 but I am not on too much anymore -
I wonder how much one of those goes for Best way to spend hundreds on a cake though
-
Do you already have the amp you are going to be using with it?
-
You can either make a box yourself, which if you are good with your hands, is really easy, or you could pay someone to make one.
-
Torx heads sound good, I have a whole variety of those, so putting in variable sizes wouldn't be a problem either. As for the amp, I think I am going to put carriage bolts on it with lock nuts on the bottom, so the only way to get it off would be to go under the truck and find the bolts.
-
That is true Bojangles. By the way, I love your dog. HI PUPPY! I guess I am just going to tint it and put a train horn alarm on the truck, this way of someone tries a smash and grab, their ears will bleed.

I know stickers should be a no-no, but do you think a NRA sticker would also be a deterrent ?
-
I will make sure not to post my license plate, but how can someone in the general public use that to find me?
-
So I don't live in a bad neighborhood, but I just bought an amp that cost me over $1K, and I plan on spending a lot on speakers and subs, but I am just going to bolt those down. As for the amp, what would be the best way of locking it down? I thought about a bullet proof glass case(with holes for venting), but ventilation would still suck, I have thought about just putting 2 long steel bars across it and bolting them down on each side of the amp, but I am undecided. I thought it would not hurt to come here and see what everyone else has done to protect their equipment.

Which of these is the best subwoofer?
Ford12508 replied to scottrod's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I had to input just because he said "I don't care about price" and his budget is $350 I am going to go with what a few others have said, and tell you to save up a little more money. I am currently doing my first car audio build, and I was asked what my budget was after I spend over $1K on a single amp . Between proper wiring, a good box, a decent amp, and a decent sub, you could blow through $350 on the wire, box, and amp easily. -
For a competition set up, .5Ohms is not a problem, but running .5 everyday could kill the amp off fairly quickly. Could you wire it down to 1Ohm instead and just not have 100% power?
-
I only said I would need more amps for different LPF and SSF settings between a 10" and an 18" sub. I think I decided on what I want to do. 2 18" Fi BTLs in the bed, and 2 Fi Q 12" in the cab, this way I can have quality when just cruising, and loud when I am posted far away from people.
