    more pics of 502's

No surprise really B) But looking at the x-overs for the 302's and 307's the ones for the502's are going to be sweet! Or maybe brutish I asume we get to see them in a while...

    more pics of 502's

What would the X-over and slopes be on these things then? If I'm going for something like this I'm gonna have active x-overs, eq and all that. Then I'd Pair them up with Zapco Comp stuff in a Brown Breaded car, do a damn thorough install and let'em rip! My future Audi A6 sedan might just be the Brown Breaded car mentioned above

    New: SI 302 Comp Set

So there will be quite a time before the 502's appear (if they do...) ? going to BrownBread my car thorougly and do a more proper install of my BA PRO components now, but they are most likely to be replaced during next winter. Any chance the 502's might show up until then? Or the 327's...?

    New: SI 302 Comp Set

Thats what I'm waiting for... The 502's seems wery promising. The tweeters were insane. Would 've been funny as he|| to run a complete SI setup in a comp here in Norway. As I've never participated in such an event I can run whatever I want. Got any amp preferences Nick? Will my Planet Audio P704 (the "old school" PA line, not the new crap 4*70 W/4 ohm) manage to pull the 502's? I'll be using active crossovers (ofcource) and bi-amping'em. What amp would be good for two 12 "D2's? I allready got one with the sweet claw basket Another 12" would rock! Or maybe a 15...? Running the 12" from 80 - 45, and the 15 from 45->... Hmmm.... Any ideas...?

    D2, wiring options.

Yep. 1 cube + some I think actually... Trying to denote in other than the metric system may pose problems when you're not used to it EF MAX: Feel free to write up on reactions you come across using the mags.

Maybe you should ask Nick to hook you up with his badass component system? Not the ones displayed on the Si website, but the upcoming ones. Quite beefy things. I'd ask him for pics and info if I were you. Oh. I'm from Norway, and am the only one here that I know of that has a Magnum D2 Whats that for being unique A little anecdote: A RF bumper with two ported RFD-2212 running off a amp feeding each sub 400W took a look in my trunk one day and said "What kind of chit have you got there? Looks good, but..." I gently placed him in my drivers seat and played some Limp Bizkit and Korn. Then some Eric clapton and Yello. He came out, totally bewildered claming he didn't know that the bassline in "Take a look around" wasnt a looong resonating boohoom, but individual plucks on the bassguitar until now. And what was up with the kidneyshattering from a single 12" in a closed 1" box? He then sat down in his own car and looked quite dissappointed when listening to what his loud but muddy RF's did. He's ordering two 12" XXX from a newly approved dealer in Norway now, didn't take the chance to order a D2 as I did. His loss...
  7. Polyurethane wood glue is excellent for use with MDF. It works like this: dissolves the surface of the two adjoining boards somewhat, eats into the fabric of the MDF and hardens deep inside, not just on the surface. The stuff sticks like crazy, and also expands when hardening, thus ensuring a totally sealed box. No silicone needed. Use tons of it as the MDF sucks it up! Another good tip is to use clamps when srewing in the screws. Even if you predrill, the MDF is pretty brittle, and cracks very easily. This especially applies when attaching the front plate, as it allready has a hole in it. Here's a Norwegian review of a home theatre sub kit where this glue was used.

    NICK!!!!.....

Actually I believe that even though Adire invented the XBL^2 technology they don't make their own XBL^2 subs. They are made by a big OEM manufacturer, something which has lead to many brands getting license to use the XBL^2 technology. I havent got 100% confirmation of what company it is, but they produce subs for multiple brands as well as having one of their own - RE. Suddenly the fog cleared, hehe Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I've heard

    other size subs?

8" for midbass would really make my kidneys happy when the kickdrum snaps back. Not to mention the thump you'd get when playing Slipknot at full steam Shall ve start a democratic process in the spirit on the ongoing presidential campaigns I vote Nick for president if he coughs up 8's :boink:

Does SI have something up their sleeve on the component side? Something like the RE XXX6" in a 3 way comp system?
  11. As the topic states: Are there plans for making grills for the D2, or do you have any recommendations on what to get? I really need one so I can keep stupid bastards from touching the driver when booming or piercing it with something. Slapped one that touched it once... He'll never do it again, hehehe

    Sub grill for the D2

Hmmmm... I contacted a casting plant today to see how much it'd cost to get a custom grill made. Bet it'll cost a bunch, hehe But that may be the final solution to this. The initial cost of making the mold is what wil be most expensive. Once that is made properly the metal itself, be it aluminum, steel or any common alloy won't cost that much. A custom grill with the SI logo in the middle would be kinda cool, huh? Not solid letters, but just their outline if you know what I mean. Im visualizing anodized blue steel for the letters whilst the rest wil be plain brushed steel or aluminum.

Yep! Thats why I went for the D2 and got it here. Could've got both Brahma and XXX here in Norway, but after reading reviews and listening to a bunch of subs I decided to go a bit "wild" and here I am, happily thumping a D2 Also I'm the only one here that has one as far as I know, so if anyone snags my sh|t, it'll be hard to sell without me knowing it... But I guess that any thieves'll have to discuss that with my alarm and trusty shotgun first, heheheh The Brahma cost around $800 here btw. sick... Could've gotten 2 D2's shipped here for that price. Maybe I'll add another D2 later as my next car will be an Audi A6 avant But that'll have to wait a while... In the mean time I'll have some fun, making a aluminum custom dome for the two tweeters in my sets, running two on each side...

    Components

Sounds great. Maybe I'll upgrade to the 502 or the next generation of these in time... For now I'm happy with My Boston 4.5 & 6.5 pro components. They cost $1860 here in Norway btw, so $800 doesn't scare me a bit. What scares me is the price difference between US & Norway. A JLW12 cost <$2000 here... Gah Too cold to install anything now, so it'll have to wait until the summer. Skis is what takes most of my time now, hehe. Those tweeters look sick thoug. I guess i'll concider this for my next car. Keep up the good work nick Would've liked to run the 502 comps against the SEAS lotus reference kit. Could've been a interresting comparison. Information in english here.
  15. Have spent some time in my car, tuning frequencys and adding/removing sheep wool from my 1"cuft box now. And the result is outstanding from what I can hear. The tight snap from the D2 really compliments the sound from my BA PRO 4.5 & 6.5 components. Slammed in Eric Claptons "best of" cd, listened to some Metallica, Korn, Toccata & fugua and a lot of other stuff. The only conclusion I can come up with is that this is by far the cleanest thing I've had in my trunk; I borrowed a sealed RF 2112 and hooked it up, and man what a difference in sound in comparison to the D2, blurry and with no thump. The Kappa Perfect I tried next sounded much better than the RF, but couldn't touch the clean sound from the D2. I know a couple of guys here who compete within SQ/LSQ applications that will be impressed after testing this puppy next month. The only thing is my amp; 1x530W@4 ohm 0,03THD 20\20000Hz, damping factor >500. Might concider a better amp. Wether it will be a Brax, Zapco comp, BA, Tru or something else remains to be seen. This sub deserves a good amp with high damping factor! Great job nick!
