  1. I would recommend searching the forums. There's a sticky somewhere I believe.

15" xcon in a temporary infinite baffle setup.

A subset of individuals with autism, known as “musical savants,” is also known to possess absolute pitch. This superiority might be due to an abnormally high sensitivity to fine-grained pitch differences in sounds. To test this hypothesis, psychoacoustic tasks were devised so as to use a signal detection methodology. Participants were all musically untrained and were divided into a group of 12 high-functioning individuals with autism and a group of 12 normally developing individuals. Their task was to judge the pitch of pure tones in a “same-different” discrimination task and in a “high-low” categorization task. In both tasks, the obtained psychometric functions revealed higher pitch sensitivity for subjects with autism, with a more pronounced advantage over control participants in the categorization task. These findings confirm that pitch processing is enhanced in “high-functioning” autism. It's possible?

    Mids and highs questions...

I suppose I'm trying to achieve more output and I'd like to try out a active system. I've always ran passive and I'm eager to see the benefits of running active. Sound quality isn't a big thing of mine, just as long as it doesn't sound like garbage (very subjective, i know) and it gets loud. Budget? Under $1k preferably for amps and speakers. I already have a sax-125.2. As far as processing I was thinking I could just set the x-over points on the amplifier(s) and call it a day? I'm running a pioneer deh-p5200hd currently. It doesn't exactly have a lot of options. I'm planning on upgrading to a pioneer double din LCD after I get the front stage setup.
  7. Lately I've been thinking about upgrading my front stage and decided that is what I'm going to do. Currently I have one set of Image Dynamics CTX65cs and I love them. I'm thinking I want to go ahead and just add another set up front. I noticed an online store actually sells the mid-range and tweeter separately and I've read some random stuff about running them actively. Does anyone know if this is indeed possible and where I would crossover the speakers\tweets at? If this sounds like a bad plan I'm open to suggestions. I found a nice set of pods for my doors that allow a 6.5" driver, 4" driver, and a 2" tweet. I've also read that setting up a 3-way to sound good can be really tricky. I'll be buying a sax-100.4, possibly two depending on what I decide to do.

    Mids and highs questions...

I've looked around but honestly I'm clueless to what are good pro audio drivers? I was looking at madisound and partsexpress... I'd run a 6.5" and a 2" soft dome tweeter... If I went that route, I could just get another sax-125.2..Correct?

Questions about Component speakers. opinions WANTED!

I'm running a set off a sax-125.2 currently. I love them. As said before the tweeters are not harsh at all and blend in well with the mid bass... I'm planning on fitting another set in my front doors and running both sets active.

  11. I didn't have to, but it's recommended generally... Just checking, I replaced mine about a 1000miles ago... Mine had 50k miles on it. Figured it'd be good to replace it...

  13. That would be belt dust. It will come back. Either tighten your belt up or get a new shorter belt Thanks Kyle. I was planning on calling you (again) later this week to ask about it. I also notice a squeal from the engine accelerating to 50mph then letting off the gas.

    I'm an idiot

What amp? Don't beat yourself up too much I'm sure most of us have done that... Replace the fuses on the amplifier and it should be good. Depends on the amplifier though.

    Audacity

Would someone mind helping me out analyze a song in audacity? I'm trying to determine what frequency the bass notes are at.

    Audacity

Sorry. Original post wasn't clear. I have audacity installed and I'd like to learn to analyze it on my own. Not sure how to use it for that purpose.

comparing two 12's to one 12

You just insulted a well liked and respected member here. I hope you don't have anymore questions. Good job.

comparing two 12's to one 12

to the OP, maybe a better way to accomplish your goal is to say you want to get LOUD (at the expense of sounding great), and what your budget is.

comparing two 12's to one 12

There's too many variables to say. Generally more cone area or more power = louder. The only way to really know is to buy them and try them out side by side in the same vehicle.
  22. I took a look a bit ago. I couldn't peel the belt back at all in order to see the pulley (and the pulley is black..). However I did notice on the front of the alternator itself, under the pulley there is now black 'dust' there. I wiped it off, guess I'll see if it comes back?
  23. Never heard of that? Sometimes you get slips that you won't hear. So that's a way to check to tell. Cool. Thanks. I'll take a look in a few.
