Whats up... I planned on having a box built for my BL back around june but just went with a prefab box at my local shop which was a BAD idea. Cant stand how it sounds honestly and finally would like to switch it out for something tuned lower and slightly bigger. Car is an 08 scion tc, the trunk is extremely small so these measures are the absolute max for a box (including carpet/baffle etc..) Height= 17.25 Depth (front to back)= 16.65 Width (across)= 31.80 Its a hatch trunk and it curves around the corner so thats the biggest size box that can fit I believe. Considered doing Sub up port facing the rear to have a bigger box but I think i will play it safe and continue to have sub/port facing the rear. Heres the current setup so you can get a bit of an idea. http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/4069/img2746vl.jpg Ported to 34Hz. Black or Dark Grey Carpet. Double Baffle, and flush mount maybe? (not sure what it is) But this box will be home for a BTL 15" later this year so whatever you think would be good to add. I'm around Boston, so let me know if this can be done and a rough estimate of the price, and if it can be shipped to me before next weekend, if not its completely fine, no rush. Thanks - Mike

I already bought everything yesterday :/ Yeah see i dont know anything about speaker amps and i thought this amp would be good for the front components and the rear speakers LOL. So i guess I will be running 200 watts per side as they are 2 ohms with this amp. Thanks for letting me know this though, I did end up buying rear speakers too but i might end up just returning them since they wont really make a difference.

Oh wow lmao i gave up on this thread a couple days after i posted since there was no responses at first and was trying to figure shit out on my own! I was ready to buy those Infinity components and rear speakers tonight, along with a Sundown SAX-125.2. I still dont know much about speaker amps, someone suggested a Kicker zx350.4 but the sundown seems to be better, would it be compatible with these speakers though? Budget is to spend in the range of all these items i've already listed really, not much more. I get a shop to install it for me for a decent price too because i cannot do anything electrical related lol...Yeah i've heard nothing but good things about those Bravox speakers. Just checked out the store and came across these which would fit, http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/Bravox-Audio-CS60K-Components.html So are these Bravox components a better quality than the Infinity Reference components if ran on a Sundown sax-125.2? or is it all personal preference still? and @m5 i do search all the time, i just thought having rear speakers was a necessity, therefore i never even thought about asking if they are needed. I do have people in the backseat often, and I dont like knowing that it sounds like shit backthere, but you guys are saying if i just go with the front componets those are powerful enough to be heard in the back? I would still like to upgrade the rear speakers anyways but i might go a bit cheaper knowing this, looking at these http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-5-25-Inch-Coaxial-Speakers/dp/B000P0PF8C <- Those have to be better than the current stock ones in there now so im thinking why not? and tirefryr are you asking me to turn the bass down just to hear the vocals? this is what im doing at the moment yeah hahaha but the goal is to not turn it down and hear the vocals as well

Hmm the powerbass speakers seem really cheap, i know RE is quality but it seems hard to find a place to buy their products. I just need to know if I go with the infinity speakers whether or not they will get drowned out by the bass really

I've had an Fi BL 15" powered by a Sundown sae-1200d in my 08' Scion tc for a few months now. Simply getting tired of having the bass drown out everything else. I know absolutely nothing about component sets or midbass speakers really, im finding this to be more difficult to learn about than subs.. I have never even heard any components or good speakers in person actually so I dont know how to tell whats good and what isnt. Bascialy my main goal is to have the vocals be heard clear and not be drowned out at all, especially when i upgrade to a btl 15" soon. Also i dont know much about tweeters I just dont want them to be so loud that it hurts my ears or anything lol. Speaker sizes: Front (6.5) Rear (5.25) Trying to get something not too expensive for xmas, i've heard good things about infinity and have been looking at these: Front: http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Reference-6030cs-6-5-Inch-Component/dp/B002BS5YAA Rear: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18902_Infinity+Reference+5032cf.html How would these work, would they get drowned out by the bass still? I'm pretty much just looking for the vocals to be heard nice and clean. Also dont know a thing about speaker amps, would an Infinity Reference Amp work fine with this or any better suggestions? And lastly what kind of wiring do i need, or do i just replace the stock speakers and i'm good? Any help would be appreciated thanks! Other info if it may apply: Pioneer DEH-4200UB Big 3 done Sub wired in 1/0 gauge Purchasing a Kinetik Hc 1800 as well

Yeah id like to build my own box , but I am a complete idiot when it comes to tools and all of that actually lmao, im most likely to screw something up.. Cant believe i bought that box for $180 though what a joke.. shoulda been more patient and went with a custom made box no doubt.

I think i just might do this then, it should be kind of fun to do as well for sure. Yeah I've got a can of black spray paint left after painting my rims, so i'll just make it black. I guess the process is not expensive as I thought it would be too, thanks. And yes phi, i agree hahah

I'm running an Fi BL 15 on a sundown sae-1200d in a scion tc. Bought a prefab box for it a couple of months ago but im looking to get my system as loud as possible (currently upgrading electrical as well). The box seems to be tuned around maybe 50hz or so, as in Young jeezy's song "white girl" (i believe it has a 30hz note and a 50hz note) and the 50hz one hits way harder than the 30. If i built a new box, and tuned it to around 33hz, in that song it would be the other way around having the 30hz note be the louder one correct? Heres the box that I have now: http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/1833/img2746u.jpg How much would it cost roughly to build a new box like this (slightly bigger and only one port), as im on a tight budget right now, and is it really worth it, making a big difference?

Well i've had to upgrade everything but my alternator with my BL but ive got around 1500 watts or so. if you give it around 1000 watts though you wont have to do much no, but it may not be as big as an upgrade as you would like. If money is really an issue stick with the BL and give it like 1000, if you think you can afford the electrical upgrades over time then dont bother with the BL and go with the btl.

So i'm sure many of you have heard this question before but i cant seem to find a good answer.. I'm running an Fi bl 15, on a sundown sae 1200d in my scion tc. Big 3 is done. Stock battery is some kind of panasonic. It seems that its not regenerating power quick enough or something. I will start my car in the morning and be at like 13.8 volts, and start it up a few hours later and be at like 13.4 upon startup. I want to be at a consistent higher number than this. Also how can i prevent my voltage from dropping so low when at loud volumes, getting tired of seeing it drop in the mid 11's and having to worry about it. I was going to get an optima yellow top but dont really like some things about it. Been looking into a Kinetek Hc1800 and autozone suggested the Duralast Gold lol. Checked out some h/o alts and found Scion TC & XB 180 Amp high output alternator I know an alt + a good battery is the best option but I can only afford one of these upgrades at the moment. What would be the best option at the time to prevent these voltage drops... 1. Kinetik Hc1800 in the front 2. Keep Stock battery and put Kinetik in the back 3. New Alt and keep stock battery. 4. Other ideas?
-
Hahah yeah i'll have the car before the system so that should allow me some time for getting used to it all. The tachometer should help for sure. Alright well i've got a better plan now of what to do now for everything thanks.

second that. why do you want an 18 in an evo???? i am in the process of buying one also and all i want in there is a 12 BL thats it. Yeah forget about the 18. I will either do a 15 or two 12" btls. I just need to get something way louder than my current 15 BL, but since its going in an evo i just dont want to do any kind of damage to the car u know. I'm also going to be new to driving a manual actually haha, stupid question but u think it will be difficult driving stick with all that bass by any chance? (since you have to listen to the engine i believe, could be wrong since im still new to this lmao)
-
Yeah my bad i failed to give enough details. I doubt 2 15's would even fit in that trunk actually. Electrical would be an h/o alt, big 3, everything done with 0 gauge, optima yellow top under the hood, and a kinetik in the back. Box would be whatever the recommendation is for the subs i go with, tuned around 33Hz or so most likely. I'm liking the two 12" fi btls idea here, now just to decide between those or a single 18" btl, since i listen to pretty much all rap/hip-hop and love them lows haha. So with this electrical and doing maybe 4000 watts total if i went with the two 12" btls, you think the windshield would be an issue still?
-
Alright so when I get out of college soon i plan on buying a Mitsubishi Evo as I am completely in love with them lol. Ive got an Fi BL 15 now and it just doesn't do it for me, not loud enough at all. I would love to have a ridiculously loud setup for the next car, and was considering an SUV so I can go even louder, but hate driving them. What is the loudest setup I can put in a car without walling it off and without worrying about the windshield cracking on me? Would love to stick with Fi and upgrade to btl's. Would one Fi btl 18 be too much, or two btl 15's? How many watts roughly until i have to worry about the windshield?
