Right now I have 2 idq v3s in 1 cu ft enclosures running off 2 jl slash v2 500 watt amps. So a 1 cu ft box would sound good? I was considering selling the 2 amps and getting one 1000 watt slash v2 and running just one FiQ 12 BUT if I have less power handling in a smaller box do you think the 500 watt amp would be sufficient for a 1 cu ft box?

The website says between .8 and 1.5 cu. ft. for a sealed enclosure. Could someone give me a more exact size? Or at least tell me what would be the difference in sound if it was placed in a .8 cu ft box vs a 1.5 cu ft box? I'm currently running an IDQv3 12 and was given an exact volume size for a sound quality setup. What do you guys suggests? I listen to rock and electronic music. Thanks in advance!

How does it sound in your metro? I'm driving a geo prizm. Are you sealed or ported?

In about a month it's going to be time to purchase and I'm stuck on this last aspect of the system. The sub. Will the FiQ work well with electronic music(breakbeats, trance, drum and bass) and rock music? What size sealed enclosure for primo SQ(tight clean bass NOT boomy? Will be powered by a 1000watt rms Sundown amp. Sub will be in the trunk of a small 4 dr. sedan. Front stage and Deck Alpine CDA9887 Mids and Tweets- Hertz HSK 165 Front Stage Amp- Sundown 2 Channel

Yes, spacers are the way to go. Thanks everyone.

I drive a 95 Geo Prizm... how exactly would I check it out myself? Thats a pretty broad explanation. Allow common sense to prevail. Roll your windows down (if the speakers are mounted in the car's doors), remove your current speakers (assuming new speakers will be mounted in the same location) and measure the depth, with a measuring tape, from the mounting baffle (the surface that the speaker will be screwed into) to the closest obstruction directly behind the speaker opening. You do know how to read and use a measuring tape, correct? This length, as measured by the measuring tape, will be your available mounting depth. If your measurement is less than 2.75" (you do know how to convert that to a fraction, correct?), then you presently do not have enough mounting depth for your new speakers and will have to investigate the option of making a speaker ring to create enough depth for the speakers. If your measurement is greater than 2.75", then you have enough depth already. How do you plan to install 6.5" diameter speakers in a location that presently holds speakers that are only 5.25" in diameter? Are you using a mounting baffle/plate for your current speakers? Or are you going to modify the speaker opening to fit the larger speakers? Or mounting the new speakers in a different location? I"m asking for help not a smart ass response. I did measure and i don't have enough mounting depth. I've read about spacers that can increase the mounting depth but someone in another forum said that SQ would suffer if was to use them. Oh and yes I'm going to make the port larger to fit the speaker and then use a spacer to increase the mounting depth. That is the plan right now anyway unless I get a suggestion otherwise. I don't want SQ to suffer but will be getting sound deadener installed in both front doors at the same time this is all getting done so that may help.

That was suggested in another forum as well... will give it a shot. Thanks.

I'm going to be getting these comps installed- CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System 2.75" mounting depth I currently have these installed SPS-500 - Alpine Type-S 5-1/4" 2-way car speakers 2" mounting depth I'm going to be upgrading to the larger size for the front speakers, from 5 1/4 to 6 1/2. My concern is in regards to speaker mounting depth. The alpine coaxials have a mounting depth of 2", the ID's have a mounting depth of 2.75". Is there a way to make the ID's work? How would I find out the max mounting depth of the speaker ports for my car? Thanks!

Anyone know anything about these subs? Someone I know suggested these over the IDQV312's. Looking for a good sound quality sub. Going to put 2 in a sealed box in the trunk of a small 4 dr sedan. Was pretty set on the IDQ's but then these were brought to my attention. Parts-Express.com:

A good friend of mine told me the same thing. Go with 2 12's! You are going to want more anyway! I just don't want to overpower my mids and highs. I've been in vehicles where all you hear is the bass, this is NOT what I want! So say I have to 12's what is the difference between turning down the gain on the amp to the sub and actually turning it down on the deck? BTW to answer your question it's not my first sub setup, I have 1 memphis audio 10 right now but I want more then that obviously.

This is true and the subs are only rated at 350 rms a piece (the 12's I mean) so it's not like they're THAT powerful but I'm pretty sure they will still get the the job done. I think I'm going to just go with 2 12's. The Head Unit I have now doesn't have a sub level equalizer but the one I'm going to have once I get the upgrade done will. Think I'm going to go with a Pioneer, the new digital media reciever one. Thanks for your reply and if anyone else has any input on this topic please share....

2 12's or 2 10's for small 4 dr sedan? (95 geo prizm) I've made up my mind on a subwoofer, I'm going to go with the Image Dynamics Version 2 but i'm not sure wether to get 2 10's or 2 12's. I don't want my trunk to rattle like hell plus I don't want to overpower my front stage. I'm going to have them in a custom built sealed in closure. Front Stage - CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System Sub Stage - IDQ10V2.D4 - Image Dynamics 10" IDQ Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer OR IDQ12V2.D4 - Image Dynamics 12" IDQ Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer Thanks!
