I haven't decided between a 12" and a 15" sub. The old phrase "there's no replacement for displacement" keeps coming into my head when I think of getting a twelve. Right now I have a 15" sub, but I think I'd like to save some space. Obviously bigger subs will go down lower and be audible, but in the 30is-100+hz range. Do 15" subs have any advantage over 12" subs. I'd like to find a sub in the ~$200 range give or take. Would you mind recommending me sub for each size or just one. I'd like to know what I'm giving up and gaining by going 12. Obviously I'm gaining space, and giving up some lowend, but will the size affect the musical range? I'm not looking to burp this setup.

I'm wanting to build an enclosure for my 15" Ascendant Audio Arsenal. I haven't decided between ported or sealed yet, but I was looking for some suggestions on size for a sealed box or size/tuning for a ported box. About the only thing I've considered is I'd like it to be reasonably small as possible. I would also like tight, punchy, controlled bass as I mainly listen to rock. I sometimes listen to rap/hiphop/bass/techno (you know, the boomy music) every once in a while so I'd still like it to be able to hit. Can you give me a few recommendations on box size? I created a thread here, but it seems to have not been noticed http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=13063 Thanks.

Do they need a baffle or anything behind them? I had them in my grand am, but they never seemed to have any mid bass. Now I've had my jeep for almost a year and I'm thinking of installing my system.

I have a set com Rainbow SLC-265 components and a 15" arsenal. Will these sound balanced in my new '96 jeep Cherokee? I'm worried the sub will be over bearing. Should I just keep the sub lower or get a smaller sub? As long as the components can keep up with the sub that is all I'm worried about. I hate it when I get in someones car and all they upgraded was the sub, and coincidentally that is all I can hear. The sub. boom boom boom thud. How musical......

EDIT: 15" assassin...ha ha. I feel stupid now. What volume am I looking for a sealed box for a 15" arsenal. Also, what volume/tuning for a ported box. I'm not going for boomy bass so much as controlled punchy bass. I don't want a small box with no range, but I also don't want a huge box. I want something in between that leans toward the small side. I would model it myself, but I can't find the specs as the site is down. Also, what amp in the ~$200 range would you recommend for this sub? Right now I have a MTX MXA8001 running 800@2. But I'm not sure that I like it.

Anyone?

Ok, I have one of the 15" arsenals that I got when they first came out. The box I built was too big, but I used it since it was sitting around. If I was going purely for compactness and tightness of bass (think rock music) what size box does this speaker need? Also, what is the recommended ported volume/tuning? I'm going for tightness and compactness, but if I can squeeze a few Db's out of it without sacrificing a whole lot of space or sound quality then why the hell not? This is going in a '96 jeep cherokee.

i wouldnt know. never tried. i would use some 5 min epoxy for that.

yeh, jb weld, its for bonding plastecs and other things, it really does weld them in the sense of the world, cause it melts the two together and fuses them, i guess chemical welding is the term now that I think of it, same principle that is used in pvp pipe glue, it meltes the two pieces together, thats why if you glue pvc right, youll never get them apart.

yeh, i superglued it, Im gonna let it dry a few more hours before i try to screw it back on, maybe let it cure overnight, although, i dont have to high of hopes for superglue, shouldve went and got some jb weld. hey, dont worry about the shipping dude. its cool, cause I wasnt expectign it and the ups guy pulls out a box with USAMPS on it and i was like "Hell yeh"

I appologize. just got my amp about 2 minutes ago. I had doubts, but you came through!!! Im so happpy!!!! I still have to inspect it, cause you cant trust shippers to be careful with your stuff, but the box was in good condition and was beautifully packded. ill post some pics later. i found one small defect, gonna try to fix it. on the power input covers (correct terminology) i thought they forgot on of the screws, but the little piece of plastic that is fused to the main screw stud that acts a screw stop either didnt fuse or snapped off. gonna try to superglue it, can you all get me one shipped out if i cant get it fixed? ill post a pic so you get an idea of what im saying, cause i think im being a little foggy. here is the side that is fine: here is the side that is broken, you can see the part that snapped beside it.
