I thought that it was bottoming out too. But as I was playing more songs I noticed that they can move quite a bit further than the vid shows. (Not linear travel but still moving) With a little investigating, I found out that the jack was making that sound.

And here is the video. As you can tell they are working my car over very well! http://www.realmofexcursion.com/videos/Sou...er/rlp12.14.wmv

I have a video. As soon as it gets posted on Realmofexcursion.com, I'll post it up here. Those 12's give my car a good workout!

I don't know, try to get plans made up for a folded horn. OR maybe a transmission line.

Sweet video. it looks like your getting a lot of output from that one 8! But why do you have an Orion 2500D for one 8, most of the amps power is getting wasted.

My ex cab s10's res freq is 57hz, but tuning anywhere near that high would kiil any type of good sound you would get out of them.

would you put 1200wrms to one RL-p 15 D2?

Hahaaha I win! I just bought two Orion 2500D's. Maybe 5K if I can keep the voltage up for any length of time. And next month I'll be getting the set of 4 RL-P 15 D4 to go with them. The though of all that working together makes me giggle like a little girl! -
Thats looks great. How much port area do you have in the box?
-
Thats a pretty good review. It sounds like most of the others that I've read though. They all have good thing's to say about the RL-p's That really makes me anxious to get mine. Just imagine how 4 of them will sound in a 10 cu box with about 5000 watts rms!

I have almost got my mind made up and I'm getting two RL-S 15's! They are going into a 1996 S10 extended cab. I have my eyes on a hifoincs colossus II amp to power them. I have talked to mike @ SS, and he thinks that I will be happy with that. I just would like more opinions on this. I can do a 9.3 cu enclosure. (thats the limit of the space I have to work with. As with the specs being a bit confusing, (I don't have any modeling software) I'm not sure about the enclosure type to go with. I would like the highest output I can get, while keeping the SQ somewhat decent. Once I get back from Iraq, I want to show one of my buddys up too. He has 4 Memphis M3 MOJO 15's in a 6.5 sealed box. We have no idea whathis spl is but I want more! and to keep the enclosure below the rear window. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

I think that its a great idea. Some type of graphics would be nice though. It would help make the newsletter less wordpad

A little help choosing an amp(s)
nimbyfaygo replied to nimbyfaygo's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
is it from a reputable seller? and are they new or used? warrenty? That is much lower than I paid for mine (new from dealer), you honestly do not need that much power but the RL-p loves 1200 watts from my experience, so this way you will be sending it plenty of power. if you go the Orion route, be careful with the gains. I have 3 Orion amps from the 2005 model line up, all are very nice and big power. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats about the price that I was seeing on ebay. That is about 1/3 of the price I was expecting. I was maybe thinking more like 600 or so. I'm not worried about having too much power. I usually see that as a good thing. In the cab of a truck, I can hear any distortion or other (bad) sounds, or smell the wonderful melting glue! But if I do get two of them, I am going to be a little conserned with that power draw. And I keep telling myself not to get hasty, I have lots of time to decide on what to get. -
A little help choosing an amp(s)
nimbyfaygo posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Maybe I can get some help here. I'm looking for amplifier choices, I'll be getting 4 RL-P 15's, probably being put into a smallish ported box. I kinda want to keep amplifier cost below 800$ if possible. I'm at a bit of a loss, on what to get. There are too many choices! I've considered getting a Hifonic Titan series TX1000 per sub. But maybe two stronger amps would be better. My truck has two yellow tops, and a mean green alternator. So any recomendations would be nice. -
A little help choosing an amp(s)

So please answer me this. Is 400$ a piece for Orion 2500D's a reasonable price? I really have zero experience with Orion. But that sound like a steal to me. -
not multiple RL-p's, but multiple TC9s (not far off) I know how my single RL-p does on 1200, can only take an educated guess as to 3 more of them, my point is that the RL-s is not made for SPL, and his main driving force behind this install is output, yes the RL-s has the capability of major output, but still a pair of RL-s have a major disadvantage to a quad of RL-ps, not to mention the RL-s needs loads of power at high ohm loads, and the cost of a pair of RL-s' plus a pair of monster amplifers to power them and the electrical system to back them up will be somewhat higher than a quad of RL-p's and a good size D class <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with you. The main idea behind this install is Spl, and four of the RL-P's will be louder, there is no doubt of that. And I want to get the best for my money, thats why I'm here The two RL-S's would be amazing i'm sure. But the needing at least 1500 watts @ 4 Ohm is a big hit on the bank! Now getting maximum output out of the RL-S's with a great VC choice is much easier to do. And I can put two in the same size enclosure as one RL-S, there is like no question anymore on what woofer to get. I also want to say thanks for leading me towards a better choice.

Hahaha, really really loud SQ is killer. And 4 15's is are inimidating to look at too!
-
I'm thinking hard about the 4 RL-P's, I have almost worked out a way to get all four in there ported. after talking with a friend we have worked out a way to get about 11 cu feet out the enclosure. And it looks like tuning for about 30hz would be the bomb. I have seen Orion 2500's on ebay for 400$ Having dual 4 ohm subs would get me 1 ohm loads on the amps. Thats should give me plenty of power, and gobs of loud!
-
I have to agree with both of you. I think that I would be happier with 4 RL-P 15's. I could get all 4 in there vented with almost the same size box. And that would cost about the same price as two RL-S 15's Too bad that I had sold the Directed 2400D amps, they would have worked perfect for that. I'm still looking for amplifier choices though. I don't think that one Colossus amp would be a good choice. I have looked at the Titan series TX1000's, I think that 4 of those work better with dual 2ohm subs. And cost me less money. I'm also trying to consider the power requirments. I still have plenty of time left to make up my mind, I have about 7 months left over here.

Hi, this is a very interesting forum you guys have here. I see lots of great info, with out all the BS! Yea.
