I saw something on Fox News the other day about a new system that picks up OTA broadcasts from this company that doesn't require you to use a dish. I can't think of the name of it though, I'll do some searching and try and post a link later. From what it said right now it only works in metro areas though.

FWIW, I think Alpine HU's are the shit. If you have a double DIN opening in your car, I would try to get one of the double DIN players that don't slide out, thats something less that you have to worry about breaking. Check out Craigslist, I've seen some great deals on slightly used DVD players, and most people would be willing to let you hook it up and check it out before you buy.

From what I have read it's not bad to use. Some people don't use them while others do. I havn't hooked mine up yet, but plan on doing so to see how it sounds and reacts. If I don't like it with the bass boosted then I can always remove it. If you choose to use it to boost your bass turn the bass boost all the way up at the amp and then turn it down to zero on the bass boost knob. The remote know overrides the dial on the amp from what I gather. You will need to set your gain(s) where you plan on keeping your bass knob. Remember you can always turn it down from where you set it. But it will of course reduce your voltage to the subs in doing so. Typically bass boost is around 45Hz. So use that test tone to set your gains on the amp. Maybe someone else with more knowledge will also reply with better opinions or facts. DO NOT turn the bass boost or the gain all the way up on the amp. It can, and probably will damage your sub. As you said, it overrides the bass boost/gain on the amplifier, so it would be smart to turn it to minimum on the amp so in the case that your bass/gain knob gets unhooked accidentally, you won't damage your sub.

I'm interested in why you went with the Q when you want to go loud. I've got a BTL, and its anything but a "fart cannon". Also, they have recommended box sizes on their website if you'd do a little research.

I used to have a P71 when I was in high school. One new years eve me and some friends had gotten a hotel together. Well, this one chick got sick as hell, so we were going to go to this gas station, like a mile away, right across the county line to get her some sprite and crackers. We were approaching the county line, and there is like five cops sitting there, lights flashing, ROAD BLOCK. I got within 200 feet of them and made a drunk ass U-turn (where I had to stop and reverse), and not one of them came after me. Must have thought I was a cop turning around at the county line. If I had been in anything other than a Crown Vic, I'd say our asses would have been in jail.

I'm not big on car audio stickers, seems like its just advertising to thieves. Only sticker on my truck is an Fi one, since I don't think that most people even know of them...

Does that mean you think its overpriced? As I said before, it seems like a bargain for that much power. I'm sure you would spend much more on the electrical to support it.

Man, for the price, if the thing actually performs, it seems like a bargain. To support that 2000 amp current draw though, you would have to have like at least four alternators, correct?

I recently found this box picture: I love how the port and the edges are rounded. I'm guessing that on the edges that they achieved that with a lot of sanding. I'm wondering how to shape the port like that. I'm considering remaking my box, to try to achieve something like this. It looks completely badass.

Like by cutting the pieces at angles and then sanding?

I don't see how it could move if its all glued and screwed. Could you elaborate?

Kerf cuts, like making a bunch of cuts and bending the wood? I'm wondering how you would make the angles at the corners of the port. I'm thinking this might be a little above my carpentry expertise, haha. I might get some quotes from some box builders, but I'm sure for something as big as I've got it would be big money, especially for shipping. I wish I could find somebody local that could do it.

I can't find anything bigger, and all I've got to work with right now is a cell phone cam, plus the fact I don't want to take my 70 pound sub out of the box to take pics, haha. My resolution is 1440x900. I've searched, but I can't find any really big BTL pics. If anyone else has any, please post them.
