How much difference between 1 ohm vs. 2 ohm loads?
deernet replied to matthewkchalmers's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
That's dependent on the amplifier. ..Ok lets get more specific "MAJORITY" of amps put out more at lower ohms. Lol, okay question is do SAZ-1500D's put out more at lower ohms? And can 12" XCON's D2's handle the output? If you'd do a little research, you could answer all your own questions, and probably feel better about doing it. Here is a little something to get you started: Sundown Audio - SAZ-1500D Sound Solutions Audio - XCON Series Subwoofers -
2nd Alternator questions
deernet replied to j3ffr3ybak3r's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
And how would you go about having a second isolated alternator, I'm all ears. And why necessarily keep your electrical "seperate"? Or am I misunderstanding you? OP, what do you need a second alternator for? How many batteries do you have/ plan to have in the future? Also what kind of dual alternator set ups have you looked into, also what brands? You would have the hot from the alternator running to a second battery, running your system, while the stock alternator only has to deal with stock electrical. You would keep them seperate so that if for some reason your second battery is draining, like when you don't have the vehicle running, it could go dead and you would still have the main battery to start your vehicle. Wouldn't have to worry about your system drawing excess current, except for the safety of your equipment. Wouldn't have to deal with lights dimming, you would still have stock electrical with no aditional draw. -
Bass remote....
deernet replied to SaxMan's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
A gain knob makes a lot less sense to me than a bass boost knob. I mean, you shouldn't have the need to be adjusting your gain all the time, and really probably shouldn't mess with the bass boost, but I guess its a marketing thing... -
Thought it might be fun to share our stories of getting burnt by the PO-lice. I've been pretty clean since I've been an adult. When I was a juvenile, I got busted once for drinking vodka out of a water bottle at a high school football game. I know, stupid as hell, but I guess you live and learn. I would have never gotten caught if it hadn't been for some holier than thou narcs. For that little bit of fun, I ended up with my license suspended until after I was eighteen (this happened when I was fifteen, if I recall correctly). Secondly on my juvenile record, when I was sixteen I was out riding around on a Honda Z50 dirtbike, lolz. I could ride wheelies like a champ on that thing, which I later learned is a lot more difficult than doing them on a fullsize bike because of the narrow center of gravity. Anyways, I was riding around, minding my own business, haha, when who pulls up behind me but a black and white, lights flashing. Well, in my underdeveloped sixteen year old mind, I thought "I can sooo lose this guy!". I was wrong. The pursuit lasted around a half hour, and I took the cop through someones back yard coming out onto a dead end street, this is where I planned to lose him. I even got a great head start, since a buddy of mine was coming home from work, had just pulled in his driveway, and realizing what happened backed his truck back out as soon as I had passed. I was thinking "Hell yeah, some Smokey & The Bandit shit going down right here. I never thought the cop would be able to follow me the route I took, his car barely fit between the trees at the end of the dead end street. Scratched his car all to hell. At this point in the chase when I had a sizable lead on the cruiser with my comically small dirtbike, I had the perfect opportunity to ditch the 40 that I had in my sweatshirt pocket. Again, in my small juvenile mind, I thought with the lead I had, I was getting away, but he quickly closed the gap since the top speed of the tiny dirtbike is around 35 mph. :suicide-santa:After the chase continued on for a few more minutes, and he had closed the gap, this cop was literally trying to run me off the road! I wish I could have gotten the dash cam vids. He pulled up beside me and jerked the car in my direction, I'm guessing trying to scare me. So I started taking to peoples yards, haha. Well, after a few minutes of this, I was getting desperate. I went through someones backyard that was fenced in on the perimeter. I thought "I'll just toss the bike over the fence and lose him!". STUPIDEST IDEA EVER. With the adrenaline rush I had, I easily lifted the bike over the fence, but as I was jumping the fence, the cop grabbed me from behind and threw me on the ground. With his foot digging into the back of my neck, I was handcuffed and placed in the cop car. After a ride to juvie, I was picked up by my VERY pissed off father a few minutes later (oh the joys of being underage). That's probably my most exciting dealing with the law. I've got a couple more stories to tell, I'll save them for later. I've never been to jail in my life, and never had a felony, so I guess I've lucked out. Anyone else have any stories to share?

2nd Alternator questions

Yes, you can, and yes, I would run it to a second battery, and keep the audio separate from the stock electrical. -
OEM integration products

You get an equalizer and can set distance corrections. The JL cleansweep looks a lot better to me, comes with microphones to calibrate your speakers, and a touch screen. I've never used either unit myself though.
