  1. The Mechman is 165 at 800 rpm, 270 amp full output by 1800 rpm.
  2. Allright, I see you've got a DC Power alternator, the Mechman one for my truck is a little cheaper and claims to have higher output, I'm not really sure which one I'll go with.
  3. The alternator in the truck is good, but its stock, I figured it'd be good to get a high output alternator from DC Power or Mechman first. I'd like to get a XS Power 3100 battery, I figure it would be better to go ahead and put it in the back,. When putting a second one in the back, do you wire it from the alternator also?
  4. It will work, I don't really see the point though. I think the only reason to turn two runs into one at the amp would be if the runs were so long that there was substantially increased resistance, which on any normal car audio run, there shouldn't be. Or maybe if you were using multiple batteries, but in that case I think you should hook the batteries in series.

Upgrading from BL 15" to BTL 15"

You really think you need TWO extra batteries for a T-1500? I just ordered a new one and was thinking I'd be alright with an upgraded alternator.

BTL on order, What size bolts?

What's a T-nut? A toggle bolt? That's the only way I can figure being able to use a bolt in a wood box.

Heres a great site, Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams Just put in the number of woofers, and the impedance, and it will show you diagrams of how they can be wired.
  8. Damn dude, you can't do anything with it, leave it alone. Your probably pissing off your mom by messing with her car anyways. Wait until you get a car, a job, and then money from said job, and come back. You can't do something with nothing.

    Mechman 250A alternator

So what exactly does that allow you to do? Change the output voltage? How do you adjust it?

    help re-adjusting gains please

If you leave your sub level at 0 while setting your gains, if you turn it up afterwords, couldn't you get clipping? I would leave the bass and treble neutral and have the sub setting around what I was going to use it at.

    Universal Option

Thanks for the info., that's what I was looking for.
  13. I agree, your distorting everything at the head unit. +1, maybe 2 should be plenty for bass if used at all, I keep mine at 0. Treble is your opinion, but I keep mine at +/-1. Edit: On my head unit, (CDA-105), I always use the SUB W. control to increase bass while keeping the EQ the same. The bass knob also helps, but you can get great bass while leaving your EQ settings near neutral, and IMO sounding cleaner (better). True, I usually never turn mine over half.

I think you've got the same HU as I do. I usually keep my SUB levels almost at max, but leave the bass setting at 0, I've had the best results with that in my setup.

    Universal Option

That's what I was thinking. On the website, it doesn't list any downsides, and its free, so I thought I should go with it.
  16. I really like my CDA-105. I constantly use the iPod cable, I don't think I've listened to the radio for a half hour since I've put it in.

  18. I'm thinking of going with Mechman. I've got a 97 Explorer, DC Power has a 230 amp for $429 and Mechman has a 270 amp for $399. From what I've heard, Mechman's alternators are also high quality large case, though I've never bought one from either company.
  19. Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the forum, I've been lurking for awhile trying to learn as much as I can. Anyways, I've had a 15" Memphis sub and a Memphis Power Reference P200.2 two channel amp for awhile. Lately my sub started to sound like it was fixing to go. I found someone selling two Memphis 12s in a box on Craigslist. I went and met the guy and hooked up the speakers, and they sounded good, so I paid the guy and started to get on my way. The speaker wires this guy had for the 12s were crimped and part of the metal was exposed. I went to push the box the rest of the way into my Explorer, and like an idiot, I let the exposed metal on the speaker wires make contact. Smoke literally rolled out of my amp. I turned the power off as quick as possible, and gave the amp awhile to cool down. Both fuses were blown on the amp, I replaced them, and still get nothing but the protect light from the amp. I'm betting that the amp is pretty much trash now, I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions before I junk it. Thanks
