2 12" dd 1500's vs 1 12" xcon in khaotic enclosure
Ohjay replied to logan_searching's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Anywhere from 2500-3500 will really get a pair of Xcons moving. I think you have plenty of room in there, the only problem might be getting the box through the actual trunk opening. You could also upgrade to a single 15" Zcon and that would ramp up your output a good bit and require a smaller enclosure than a pair of Xcon 12s. The amp you have now makes enough power to saitisfy that beast too. -
Talk about a "What the fuck" moment.

What's your budget look like, what kind of max dimensions do you have to work with in that trunk? -

Not even in the same league. The DDs might get a bit louder due to sheer cone area, the Xcon will do everything better though, if you're used to a nice Xcon setup, going to DD1512s is probably not going to please you. -
The 18 will sound just as good provided you put it in a proper enclosure. It would probably be close in output compared to the 15s.

It really just depends on what you want to run and how much you want to spend. If you want 1 spectacular sub and have plenty of money to spend, get an N2 18". If you would still like one large very loud sub but don't want to spend quite as much, maybe a BL tailored to your needs would be better. If you want to run 2 subs, a pair of SSD 15s should provide you with plenty of output and will put a big smile on your face too.

That would be a question for Jacob or Brandon.

4 cubes? You must be wanting to retain most of the cargo space then? You should have at least 9-10 cubic feet to work with.
-
Either of those choices would work great, I'm assuming you have the electrical system to back this up?
-
Nice, very nice given the power

Is it bad to buy used batteries?

De Nada. I have an old amp laying here that still works fine but has some burning around the output rails and resulted in a 3 db loss at the last show I went to. Sometimes they can function fine and simply have a loss of output. Open that sucker up and get some pics up for us.

Burn marks mostly. I always like to open amps up and check out the guts if there's no warranty to be voided by doing so.

Pushing the ABs to the max I see.
-
Have you opened it up and checked the board?

That Ferrari is badass

\dual 1's just a guess. and the other boxes i built at 32hz sounded good. i love the lowes;) haha Let's build something together?

Might make wii bowling a bit easier. Then again, it could be like the gun and suck ass.

Diggin' the batteries in the rear bumper, I don't think I've seen that before. -
Nice looking little amp, I wonder if it will work well below 1 ohm like the rest of the IA monoblocks.

You don't have to do that for the Icon either, it just ups the power handling in case you ever decide to. An Icon will perform great with less than rms power. There's not really any need to upgrade anything. If cost is an issue though, the Dcon should suit you just fine.

No, it's not, it will do 400 x1 at 4 ohms bridged though.
