I purchased a ssd12 not too long ago(3/15/10) and it has stopped working. Amp is fine good power still. When it does feel like working it sounds like its bottoming out even when its barely on. What is the procedure for something like this? Thanks in advance!

I just got my sub back. they covered it, gave it a fresh recone and its back in the car. i turned the amp down a lil bit and i think im gonna order a Q soon. Thx to everyone that helped answer my questions.
-
correct the box is sealed. Nick said that 1.0 sounded best to them
-
How do you figure?
-
90% sure its off and the subsonic is set at 15 by the amp. And the box is sealed.
-
The amp is a alpine mrp-m1000 and the crossover is at around 60 and the gain was set with a dmm and a test cd all i had to play with. Im gonna send it in tomorrow after work and add bp power if i can.
-
Which would mean? and be caused by what?
-
I'll have to pick one up and yes. the amp and wires were all good. The sub wouldn't play and i would push on the cone a lil and it would come on for a sec then stop playing.
-
Yes i dont see anything out of the ordinary. as i said in my last post
-
what should i look for on the sub as to y this is happening. Nothing looks burnt, sub makes no noise when i push the cone in. Effortless still. Looks normal to me

Did anywhere i say that it broke itself? NO and yes thats how it happened just stopped playing one day. And i never said it wasn't my fault, never said it was the company's fault. All i asked was what the procedure was for getting it fixed...... Thats all no more no less

Sealed box at 1.05 cubes with sub displacement.
-
No clipping and the box is 1.05 cubes sealed with the sub im not an idiot, with the high qts option, and it took me a lil while to find the email for them. Told them exactly what i said here. And it sounded fine with no problems then it stopped working. I'll pull the sub out tomorrow and inspect it. I love how i ask a simple ? and almost everyone has to be a dick.

I will do a comparison for you guys if i do end up upgrading.

This isnt gonna be anything crazy but heres what i got so far. I got polk audio 2ways in all the doors, pioneer 5200 HU. Over the past few days ive been laying down Fatmat rattletrap in the car. I got the whole trunk done with one layer and the outsides of all the doors are done too. I was thinking of doing the roof or the floors but im lazy and dont wanna rip it all apart. I only took a few pics of the trunk and dident get any of the doors (sorry). I have just ordered an FI SSD12 and will be building a box this weekend for it. Its gonna be sealed 1.25cubes BEFORE displacement. I'll try to take some good pics during the build. Thanx for looking and here are some pics of my trunk. Might not be pretty but it works.

Get one man i love it. ESP in the winter but u dont get that down there. Up here my car pwns, i fly by everyone on the highway So what do you guys think about the Q idea?

Looks Great!!!! Your Uncle's shop is very nice does he rent space by the hour? No its his work but he can go there anytime he wants to.

The SSD is doing well. sounds great. I think that im going to upgrade to a Q 12 and throw it in the same box. Im hoping for harder hits from the bass drum, and it will handle the amp better than the SSD is. What do you guys think?
-
It deff is under rated. It allmost takes all 1000rms my amp pushes. My friends are like shit there's no way that's one 12 in a sealed box. Check out my build for a lil more info. And u should go more around 1.2 before displacement. Sounds soooo good.
-
I just sent ya an email about a box for this exact sub. I love this box i might want a flared port just like this one instead of a normal slot port. AMAZING work man. Deff gonna get it from u.
-
Email nick at FI and ask what he thinks sounds best. For my ssd12he reccomended 1cube after displacemet. I would build the box somewhere around 1.5 before displacement. So in the end you will be around 1.32 cubes. Just my .2
-
Using all that space is 2.71 ft^3 in a rectangular box with .75 mdf. The Q is recommend for .75 to 1.5 cubes. sooo go HERE and play with the dimensions till ya get the size u want and dont forget to take out the sub displacement which is .16 cubes. Sorry thats if ur gonna use a 12". what size sub are ya gonna use????
