I live in Oxford. I went to Ocean City a couple times and watched some retards "compete" I do alot of demo's for people with my wife's car. Its in the build log on here. 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. When the weather gets better I would be willing to bring the wife's car out to have some fun with. -

I have a 15 inch sound solutions audio xcon in my wife's 04 lancer ralliart. I took the back seats out took all the plastic off and removed about 1/4 inch of material around the trunk opening into the car. i went upto the spot weld but left it there. i can fit my wife's box which is 3.8cuft3 at 34hz tuned port. i have pics in my build log on here. -
This is the start of my build log for my wife's 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. I have started receiving stuff in so as I get the stuff and get it installed I will include more pics. Here's what I am working with to start. Alpine 9886 HU Boston Accoustics SX-65 6.5's all the way around MTX Thunder Elite 1501D Mono Sub Amp Here's what i have received, Alpine V-Power 4 channel amp. 50 feet of KLMX 1/0 ga wire from KnuKonceptz KnuKonceptz RCA's And some 4 ga and 8 ga for various things with some terminals My Xcon isn't here yet I hope it will be soon but soon enough I will start putting all this together.
-
It barely fits, ha, I had to remove a part of a pinch weld that goes across the back trunk opening to slide the box in. nothing to serious to weaken anything as the pinch weld is still there but it was a pain, hopefully within the year i pull that all out and get rid of the back seat and put 2 xcons in there.

Weird issue with crossovers
DiabolicCustoms posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well I have finally gotten around to using the MB Quart PXD-213, I have had them sealed in box brand new for 6 years now. Fantastic product just never used them. The question I am having is this and it may sound like a noob issue so please be gentle. I have a phenix gold 250.2 running them, have 12 gauge speaker wire in lengths less than 3 feet from amp to crossover, now I don't understand the installation diagram cause the damn thing is in german. or deutsh. so here is the issue, it says to run biwire from the amp into the low input and the high input, I have them wired just to the high input from amp and they sound phenomenal. now the issue is this at high volume the fuse or what appears to be afuse, lights up like a light bulb and flashes like its on a turn signal flasher. is this from maybe the gain being set to high and the "fuse" is just heating up and pulsing or does it have something to do with this biwire thing? and if thats the case couldn't i just jumpers from the high to the low? or does anybody know if those crazy germans deisgined them to light up and flashes like a honda civic fresh outta pepboys rice aisle? thanks for any input. -
Weird issue with crossovers
DiabolicCustoms replied to DiabolicCustoms's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
thats 150 rms on the components but i do believe i fixed the issue. I rewired them biwire (pita) swapped the little switchy thingy to biwire and let the gain down just a smdige on the amp. it hasn't done the xmas light thing and i was trashing on it alot. the tweets are definatly not as bright, and the midbasses are more prominant so we will see, if it happens again i will let you guys know thanks -

Solet me get this straight my 75 watt rms amp is too much for a 150 watt each rms pair of components? My mid basses are firing even with no biwire the amp isn't clipping as far as I can tell no o scope though and its not the amp light coming on I will take it back appart from the doorpanel and wire it biwire turn the gain down a smidge and then report back I do appreciate the input fellas I just am failing to see how a component set that would have cost 300 brand new can't handle 75 watts. -

i am thinking about this, as the rms rating is 150 for them, and i have them on a amp that is probally not even close to putting 75 watts rms. and i still would like to use this setup cause it was the amp came from my wifes car and the component set i traded for a set of used tires. i am going to try this biwire thing and turn the gain just a bit down cause i honestly think its to high as it is, and if that doesn't work then i will come back and admit defeat and ask for more help? ha i guess im to stubborn to try the way that sounds like i don't have the right stuff to do what i want.lol -

no the just light up when playing real loud and only flash so I'm wondering if I do the bi wire thingy and turn the gain down a bit it should retify the prob right? -
things that make you go hmmmmm

Weird issue with crossovers
DiabolicCustoms replied to DiabolicCustoms's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Na its the crossovers flashing the amp is fine, the music never cuts out when this happens and it has to be real loud for it to happen. this "fuse" sorta looks like the old skool dome lights where it sorta looks like a fuse but lights up. so what is the biwire for? i am not familiar with crossovers as this is the first i have ever used them. beside the old skool radio shack ones. I do know i have to take and move the little tweet selector down a notch as the tweets are very bright. over powering sometimes. just to clarify its the crossover fuse/light thingy not the amp. music never cuts out, and the mb quart website is no help as these were before the big buyout by maxxsonics so nothing before that merger is in their tech help. they have the psd 213 and nothing before those. which are almost teh same thigns basically. -
Just a couple snaps of the Lancer from the Herr Foods Inc. Cruise night held in Nottingham PA. I didn't bother with pictures of all the glam rods or anything like that, just a couple of the car and the unfinished install.

Well guys and gals, I got the box carpeted ( not finished with looks ) and installed the amp temporary mounted to a spot in the trunk. My box worked out to be 3.6 after all bracing, double baffle, port and sub displacement, tuned at 33.9HZ. My amp is a MTX Thunder Elite 1501D , 1663 watts 1ohm at 14.4 volts. My first inital response was wow this thing sucks! Then I quickly realized that I forgot to turn the subwoofer control on the head unit up. DUH! This thing puts my two alpine type x 12's to bed. I haven't even broke her in yet and she is impressive already. Superb sounding, very clear all thru the frequency range. A little lit on the upper ranges but that could be box and amp issues. Could be the fact that I went from 12's to a 15 also. I didn't bother with pics of the box building as it gets boring seeing a square box with a port being built and I didn't do any special stuff to the box to make it look good in carpet besides running the edges down. Once i get my trim pieces made and painted and my amp rack made and mounted i will post those pics. I do have a question though, What would it take to get in the 140's with this 15, this box is as big as it can get for the trunk, its definately hitting harder than those 12's and sounds way better but im wondering what i could do to get in the 140s, keep in mind i haven't metered yet it just doesn't feel like a 140+ pull.
