DiabolicCustoms replied to DiabolicCustoms's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical

Pretty much same process I would assume but where you used roll on paint I will be using automotive grade stuff from HOK

Hey guys have seen alot of painted boxes and for the build I'm doing I wanna go with a House of Kolors blue on the box. What kind of prep work is involved in setting up mdf to be painted? Is it neccessary to resin the whole outside of the box or will a high build primer work on mdf? thanks.
-
thats really it though just scuff it with some paper and then hit it with sealer primer? hmmm this may be easier than i thought, i will probally counter sink the screws then fill with resin sand and seal. hmmmm interesting. thanks sir lancelot

15 and no vented, alton helped me out with measurements to make a box just under 4 ft3 tuned at 35. i have a trunk with room, surprising for a lancer but its got room for junk in the trunk ha, i've always wanted to say that.

Custom door panels for my GMC Sonoma!
DiabolicCustoms replied to BanginGMC's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
in theory your picture is what i am talking about but if done right will give a very decent curve to your panel. 6.5 really don't need a enclosure in average cases. bass response will be affect by varying degrees of space but that is all in how you set up your system to begin with. the dog bowl thing is a easy way of doing something to make it look like it took alot longer to make. ha! -
Custom door panels for my GMC Sonoma!
DiabolicCustoms replied to BanginGMC's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
you could always just go to walmart or somewhere that sells round plastic dog bowls that the bottom of the bowl would fit the speaker inside if cut out. and do something with those, i did something like that on a guys ride but after i mounted the bowls i fiberglassed them in so i had three very equal pods just a idea. -
Box numbers i got off of the RE Audio box calc. I put in the measurements from my trunk and this is what i got out of it. 2004 mitsubishi lancer ralliart, mtx 1501d, ssa xcon 15. sub facing rear, port facing rear. square vent style port width 28.5 box height 16.5 top 22 bottom 24.5 wood thickness .75 mdf braced and reseined port height 15 port width 4 porth length 1 is 18.5 porth length 2 is 12 total port length 37.25 porth diameter is 8.74 square port area 60 sq port internal volumbe 2235 sq port volume displaced 2257.31 box volume ft3 3.79 box volum in3 6551.43 tuned freq is 31.24 is that to low of a tune for a daily spl setup, something the wifey can listen to when she wants and something that if i decide to pull up to the lanes i can still do? and all those numbers are standard inches and taken right from the website. it doesn't take into account driver displacement or the specs of the subs like some pay calcs due, this one was free. thanks for any input and questions

Hey Im new to the site and here in a lil while to the Team. Been talking with Aaron on the net about getting on with the Team and my wife and I are super excited!!!! The car we will be using for the team is a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, Mod's are as follows; 2.4 Liter Mivec 4 cylinder Excessive Amperage 180 amp Alt. Optima group 31 yellow top batt. 1/0 ga upgraded power and ground wires Injen Short Ram intake Magnaflow Catback exhaust Tien Basic Coilovers cranked to a 3.5 drop Exel speed 7s 18 inch rims wrapped in Fusion 215/35/r18 rubber EBC sportmax rotors clamped on by EBC redstuff brake pads Evo 9 interior swap, with the radio relocation panel and the center 3 pod gauge cluster 3 gauges include volts, oil pressure, and A/F gauge Alpine CDI 9885 MTX Thunder Elite 404 Running 4 Boston Accoustic s65 6.5 inch speakers MTX Thunder Elite 1501 D which will be running a SSA XCON 15 I think thats it but there could be more considering I've dumped some serious money in this car cause noone makes parts for the Ralliart so everything came from Monopolies in the business. I will post pics shortly.

would it not also make sense that if you are running 1/0 ga wire to the amp for power and a 1/0 wire for the ground from amp, to size your ground wire from the battery to chassis or frame the same or bigger than the largest power wire in the system? example battery to amp, 1/0 ga amp to ground, 1/0 ga battery to ground point either chassis or frame 1/0 electricity takes the path of least resistance so doubleing wires to the alt makes no sense. you can't double wire it, that would be like twisting the ends of 16 ga speaker wire togehter and calling it 8 ga. in most newer cars the main lead from the alt does not lead straight to the battery, it leads to a fusible link or something else that everything is tied to. that why alot of the newer cars don't just have terminals to the battery they have big boxy looking things. i have done the big 3 and sometimes alot more on all my vehicles regardless if they had a system or not, its good practice and can result in a alt's life being extended. in no way will doing the big three up the amperage of a alt. it just guarentees it a lil bit easier path to choose and will give that tired old autozone special 7 days of life instead of 6.

Just place my first order, talked to Aaron on the phone for like 45 minutes, real cool guy. Everything went smooth as silk, will be waiting patiently for the stuff to arrive. So far its been a A+ experience!

bypassing emissions evap canister???
DiabolicCustoms replied to jonbearsmt's topic in Automotive and Performance
it'll almost definately throw a code, probaly already is??? if you can get that length of hose into a somewhat upright positiona dn can finda vent or even one of those cheap crappy small ricer filters than you could do that but just keep in mind that the fumes are themost dangerouse part of gasoline. -
bypassing emissions evap canister???
DiabolicCustoms replied to jonbearsmt's topic in Automotive and Performance
you can get rid of it but it requires running a vent to the tank itself and then you will always smell fuel, i had to do it on my s10 when i bodydropped it. -
I hope I did that right if not can someone help me out? Im sorta computer illiterate.
-
Man this forum rocks, last time i introduced myself on a forum I got blown up! Hopefully this weekend I can get some better pics. Do you have to have a photobucket or similiar to upload pics?
-
