sefugi replied to funbogie's topic in Newbie Sign IN
From the sound of your post you have the understanding of "install dependent" You mentioned you are not new to audio, but if you have not heard of the BIG3: read up at this link, it will help out with any electrical and give ground work if you upgrade any electrical in the future. Keep reading, as I can tell you have, we can allways learn something to enhance are skills with installs. Good Luck!! -

Soundstream amps?
sefugi replied to Dan208's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Only experience I have with Soundstream is with my son's build (link is in my signature). Have been happy so far with the output they give, but they are the D-Tower Series. The difference I see in the specs of the 2 you have listed is the rms power specs. one is listed as 350 rms power and the other is 350 peak power. The amp phi has given as an option would be a good choice for the $ Good Luck!! -
For all that racing I do with it. I was able to get a good deal on them and I thought they would look nice behind the big wheels. It works!!!!
-
Welding wire is great to use I would probly stay with 1/0 for your big 3 unless you are doing something hugh for an install.

This was in the hatch of an Escort GT with 8-12's. No decent pics of the wall and this one is a picture of a pic. Sorry for the poor quality. By sefugi at 2010-07-13

Sir-Lancelot's Yukon XL - UPDATE 18" ZCONS / 4 GP3k Page 27
sefugi replied to Sir-Lancelot's topic in Team SSA
You can haz it! I am going to put the kids in it and play whack a mole. lol Then I want dibs on the subs!! Awesome work!!!! That port looks hugh!! Size? -
I agree that depending on the sub being used you will not have enough port, with the size(4") & length(10-12") you have with that port your freq. will be around 36-38Hz. If you don't have it here is a place to check some of what you are asking about: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 Hope that helps, Good Luck!!

Wiring 2 amps
sefugi replied to EndersShadow's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I would recommend upgrading from the 4ga to a 1/0 wire to feed the amps, and you did not mention doing the Big 3 to enhance your electrical. Get enough wire and do the Big 3 in 1/0 as well. This will help your voltage to the amps. Good Luck!! -
Thanks!! Progress has slowed a little do to Grasshopper's work schedule, but we are getting there...

Sir-Lancelot's Yukon XL - UPDATE 18" ZCONS / 4 GP3k Page 27
sefugi replied to Sir-Lancelot's topic in Team SSA
I am debating painting just the port a gloss black. The wife says no, but I dun no. If you cover in a tan covering the black would keep with your theme, of course the white would give a nice glow with a few LEDs in there. See you know where I am going with this. I think the port, just the port black and the inside of the box white with LED's would look nice. That's why I went with the white inside so the light would be more reflective off the inside. You have a good eye and I respect your opinion, so I think the boys win this one and the port gets painted black. Tell the wife sorry, You are the Man!!!! Carry-on and can't wait to see the results!!!! If you havn't decided on LEDs I can link if you need options.
