My box is 13ply Russian Baltic Birch. very nice wood. Not cheap but you say you have a hook up. 45's in corners and also with bondo added then sanded to create rounded corners. Then resin, sand heavily and paint with a high gloss automotive paint to get a complete smooth surface inside. lots of work..... All doubled 3/4 with rod bracing. Strong smooth bitch when done. Results....unsure....

Time for change (head unit)
swift replied to swift's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well that Alpine was installed in 2006, so I wanted to get something new anyway but didn't want to spend a grand on the 99. For the money the Pioneer looked like the best unit in a single din music only head unit. After all the money spent on the rest of the system I figured a new head unit wasn't a bad idea -

I think while my truck is in rebuild mode I will go ahead and upgrade or change to a newer unit. I love the alpine but want to look at something different. Looking at the deh-80prs or the avh-P8400bh. Sq wise the 80 looks like the choice but im sure I would be happy with either. Any other good dd units out there? This is what I have now and will be letting go cheap to anyone interested http://www.crutchfield.com/S-lCerWQCN13n/p_500IVAW200/Alpine-IVA-W200.html#details-tab I want good control of eq and options for hpf and lpf. Any other opinions? I have a alpine 600 watt 4 channel that will cover the mids and highs unless I pick up an additional small 2 channel just for the tweeters -
What a waste of space. I would rather watch 20 "life of price" vids than one of these. Just almost embarrassing they are so bad. Congrats on starting a car with jumper cables

Second Skin is a great product, did a trunk for a guy a few weeks ago of B-stock Pro and it really really helped.

Yeah they have to remove the cab on these trucks to remove the heads. Its a bitch

Got my truck back and its a beast! This was it yesterday, lol Truck runs like a champ now. Its very very strong, new mods were. ARP Head studs with stock Ford gaskets Heads fluxed and resurfaced, valve job EGR delete Oil cooler rebuilt Full turbo back 4in MBRP exhaust, no cat SCT SF3 tuner loaded with Innovative Diesel customs tunes After dropping an unexpected 6k on this thing I can now get back to installing all my stereo equipment back in. Although this thing sounds so mean I will enjoy driving it for a few days with no sounds.

It has 90sq in of port

Sorry forgot to mention I will be running a pioneer 80prs which has what's needed. Although I'm glad to hear clearafication on the amp xovers

Well, honestly I am probably going to run my current component set to do the duties from 300hz up. my 8's from 70-300 and the FT1's from 4500 up. If it sounds like ass I will rip it all out and do it over. I like a loud pronounced tick tick tick tick in my music but dont want screaming high pitched words. So I may run the FT1 at 5500+. Hopefully it works. Look forward to see how yours ends up, let you be the guinea pig, LOL. Mine will all be in next week.

Looking at the amp it should work. Run hpf at 4k on the fronts and the mids band passed at 70-300 or so on the rear channel. Just need a filler midrange. Look at another 2 channel to run the midrange band pass at 300-4k. That's what I will do but M5 is way more knowledgeable about it than me. Atleast I "hope" I can maybe pull off that same scenerio with mine. I really hate to sell mine and buy two new sets of components to keep up with my subs.

The Precision Power Sedona amps have a Bandpass option that seems decent, really one of the better looking ones I could find while trying to find something for my Crescendo 8's and FT1's. Seem fairly inexpensive. I thought of running this for just my mids and running a bass blocker for the tweeters, and a hp filter from other amp on my 6.5's http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures_new.php?id=23656&picture_id=407739

I will mainly run off my IPad for music. Never really used any kind of little drive devices. Since everything is out really just want to redo it all. Lol. The headunit seems to be my best upgrade at this point. -

Any other places besides crutch field or amazon to pick one up? Sonic doesn't carry it -
Just do the 2.0 at 33-34hz, I would also do around 22in of port area and be done with it.

help me pic my new amp. ASAP
swift replied to jonbearsmt's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I voted Sundown because of the customer service, but I would seriously look at the new Crossfire amp. It would outperform both amps listed and I hear they have incredible customer service too. -
These things are monsters. They are very impressive in person and I cant wait to get them installed. Hopefully my truck will be done soon. few pics

Crossfire 8k -
Thanks, mine does have a programmer on it but I still get maybe 15-16 at best but that's not normal. The 6.0's are just fuel hogs compared to the cummins 5.9 motors that get 23+ programmed. All my other trucks are heavy duty 26ft straight trucks but maintenance itsnt too much different than my daily 3/4 ton. Same principle applies mostly.
