If the gain wasnt up so high you would not smell the sub. -

It will help voltage drop but if you are clipping heavily it will still overheat your sub. Turn the gain down, with 4V preouts you should probably not have to go more then 1/2 way up. Probably not even that far really. You need to download a test tone. You can even find them on Itunes. example......Search (Bass Mekanik, King of Bass) on Itunes and download the whole disc. It has test tones on it. Or find one somewhere else. Rough guideline for setting gain by ear. 1..Turn gain on amp all the way down. Bass boost on amp off completely 2.. Put a 50hz tone preferably (or loudest song you have in your playlist) and Turn volume up to the highest you will go to. (roughly 75-80%) Also go ahead and set the EQ the way you want for the bass portion on head unit. 3. start turning the gain up until you hear the bass change to a unwanted sound, back the gain back down until that goes away. If its a test tone it will be easier to hear the change from a clean signal to clipping unless you can turn your mids and highs completely off if playing a song. T -
Thanks, curious how it will sound on double power. Gonna have some numbers next week once the meter gets here. I don't expect it to meter as high as the SPL guys but hope I hit my goals between 30-35hz range.

LOL

Type R coaxils actually sound great. I had 5x7's in my truck at one time and was super impressed by them. If you need any help let me know,

Why not move the compressor to the bed. That has to be loud and annoying as hell. Just a thought
-
Yes, put atleast a D3100 in the rear. I have 4 d3400's and could use more.

They're communication sucks period. I just received my shipped status yesterday. Problem is I got the sub almost 2 weeks ago. lol They make such a good product I hope they get things straight. Customer service will make or break a company, and if this keeps happening they may not be around for he long haul.

Awesome

I need this. I'll send you a pm when I get home.

Damn that definitely loud!! What was that at just curious? 50hz? hard to tell from the pic
-
They dont get warm unless I demo the shit out of it full tilt for a few minutes. But the way it is now it gets extremely loud just riding at half volume. No need to open it up unless demoing to someone. It does draw alot more voltage running at .5 ohm. I need at least 2 more big batteries I think. My daughter

Guess my head unit doesn't like my new setup. After going close to full tilt the screen goes blank until I turn truck off and back on. Any suggestions or just send it back to Crutchfield?

Saw that on another forum, that should be a loud setup for you. Look forward to pics

There are a couple different ways you can go about this. You will need a Active capable head unit (I didnt look the specs on yours). You will either need a small 2 channel amp for the tweeters 50w or 75w x 2 will be plenty. Then a 4 channel amp for the mids. 100w x 4 will be good on that one. Or you could run one bigger 4 channel and run the tweeters off 2 channels and the mids off the other like I am. I have a 150 x 4 and have the amp turned way down on my tweeters and then running mostly rms to my mids on the other 2 channels. Obviously 4 15's is alot more cone area than 4 12's. It will also require much more space for the enclosure. Your choice. This is a very large setup you are attempting and will cost a lot of money to run properly. My setup is somewhat similar and I have 4 XS D3400 batteries and also a 380amp alt and I could still use more battery. I hope you have 5, 6 or 7k to spend and also do all the work yourself. lol Welcome
-
Welcome, now go buy some mids and highs. Lol
-
So you don't have to go crazy on electrical I would grab a Crescendo bc2000 from here on the SSA store. It will be plenty for the subs and you could probably get by with just one extra large battery for the rear. You get up into 3k + you will need a new alt. Focus on a good enclosure.

Thanks a lot man, I am only decent at carpet if its dark or thick, lol. I think I will add something different this time. My truck has a unique pattern in the doors and dash that looks like carbon fiber but is actually small Harley emblems, I think I will pull a piece and take it somewhere to see it it can be made. And use that for trim pieces. I would like to use a second amp but not sure I need it.

I like your dads truck!
-
haha, Man your shit is too loud to be ugly, you could probably tie someone down inside and torture them. Make them talk....."Tell me what I want to know"...... bahhhh, bahhhh, bahhhh,......."you ready to talk yet?" bahhhhh, bahhhh bahhhh LMAO I am looking forward to what you do next seriously!!!
-
It was more of a reference of you being LOUD and me not, haha but I'm trying.
-
I tell you what, you make mine loud and I'll make yours pretty. lmao
-
Got it all sealed up and trimmed out. The truck is just plain brutal to sit in. Had several demos / bailouts today and my brother called me 30 minutes after leaving and said "man Im gonna go lay down I still dont feel right after that shit" LMAO

my truck makes my nostrils flap together. Bass does the strangest things
