Suggest a loud 10" sub for a sealed box
swift replied to teoulennon's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Yes a sub with a higher qts will work better sealed. The SD-2 would have been your better choice when buying Sundown. I think a GCON would perform better though. You keep mentioning loudness and sealed at the same time and thats gonna be extremely hard to do if your on a budget and staying with such a small sub. You either listen to alot of Rock type music and no rap / hip hop at all or either dont think a ported box will sound good. A sealed 10 can sound great and have decent output. Loud it wont be unless your comparing it to your factory radio. -
Thinking about buying a new Cadillac CTS-V coupe. I drove one when I went to get our SRX serviced and havent been able to keep it off my mind................... The car runs really strong for a stock off the showroom car. The auto would give me a good excuse as to why "we both" would enjoy it. Lmao Love this color too

Very nice amp!! Not cheap either
-
they dont make one of those for my car...im asuming its supposed to be a secondary battery? Thats a fleet size Group 31 and is not a AGM battery anyway. I run those in my work trucks. You dont want that, if you want a large cheap AGM look at Sams. They have the large Deka rebadge group 31's there. That size will need to be a extra battery for the rear. If you want the best battery under 300 bucks get the Die Hard Platinums from Sears. Group 31 for the rear or group 34 for under hood.

Looking forward to build pics. I run complete limo on all my cars. My Cadillac has 5% all around even on top of the factory in the rear, front windshield has a limo sun strip and 80% Ceramic. The company tags allow for limo on my truck but I have never been messed with in any of them.

I thought mids were for tight bass?

Thanks man, That sucks about your subs. I take it all 3 are blown? Again, thats sucks. But look at it this way, you will come back louder!

That should sound awesome! Love a good low tuned street box

Not neccessarily true, there is a good amount of people who run more than 3k and dont replace an alt every 6 months. But a good battery bank is usually what they have to overcome that, buying a charger and charging your batteries often will help as well. True...... but he doesnt have that. No way you just add a single group 31 and think you can run two 2k watt amps strapped at 1 or even 2 ohms, and another 1k watt class A amp and think it will be fine. That mofo will draw like crazy unless he is gonna run the amps strapped at 4 ohms. But whats the point in that. When demoing you need a good alt, comps isnt that big of a deal because you can burp or handle 30 seconds without much issue if you have a big enough battery bank. I just know from what I have seen, you either need a overly large battery bank / stock alt or a mixture of battery and good HO alt. I just didnt see the point in advising him to add a second 100lb battery to the truck just to avoid a new alt, why have $1k worth of subs, $1200 worth of amps and not make sure electrical is up to par. My last bit of input on his setup is this. If it was mine I would A...... Run a group 34 under hood (agm) and 2 group 31's in the trunk and also a Charger to maintain them. or B.......Run the 34 under hood, one group 31 in the rear and a good Mechman HO alt. Then he can demo with more confidence, not worry about the stock one going out and when he is ready to add power, just add more batteries. Either way. OP you have a great build going on, good equipment and Rick and Alton will take care of you. I will be watching this build, the Zcons just get loud as piss and sound great. Good luck with the build!!

Icons and crescendo bc2k barely any output
swift replied to rythe88's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Just curious as to why you have it wired to 4ohms? Those subs will take all that amp can throw at 1ohm. Sounds like a wiring issue. -
No, it won't be enough. Get the group 34 platinum for under hood but I still don't think it will be enough. Not with the stock alt. Once you get over 3k or so a aftermarket alt is a must unless you want to replace the stock one every 6 months
-
Looks good and should sound great! You will need another battery though. One group 31 in the rear just won't cut it with that little alt.
-
Now that is funny! lmao
-
I dont know why you keep making threads asking about shitty amps.... If buying shitty equipment just use simple math and go for it. SSD's are rated at 1000 rms each x 2 subs = 2000rms. Now find a amp rated at 2000rms, I mean it really is that simple. Nobody here is going to say either are awesome amps.

13ply Russian Baltic Birch Enclosure for 2 18's (5 sheets used @ 60 per sheet) It was built for FI SP4's and also FI Q's. But would work also great for Zcons or other SSA subs Specs: 59 wide x 29 high x 27 deep (99% sure will reconfirm for buyer before purchase) All doubled walled, braced very heavily, 45's in corners and resined. 14.2cu NET tuned at 30.5 - 31hz 204sq in of port area, Black Carpet with Black Vinyl padded beauty panels. This box was doing 150's at 30-35hz in my truck. Description/Condition: I have many build hours in this box, I am very picky and my cuts are very straight. The box in is great shape and will last forever. It would work great in another truck or can work in a Suburban or similar Price: :350 Picked up. I have more than this in material alone. Shipping would be too high as its over 300lbs. Here is the original build log from this box. And here is a video of what 2 SP4's were doing in this box

Pics of enclosure and materials used? Are you sure its sub noise and not the box itself? The gain on the amp is to match voltage coming from the headunit only. If you are new at setting gains it I would say dont turn it over half way up and leave bass boost off.

M3a is a beast and will be plenty for one SP4 The Zcon will handle just as much power as the SP4. Its not recommended but a member here runs a BC5500 to single Zcon 15 daily with less than stellar electrical.
-
Not with his rear seats in, haha. It would fit in Chicagofan's Suburban though.

If the guy is in Africa there might be a language issue. But its no excuse for stupidity.
