Box build help. 2 Fi Audio SP4 18's and 8,000 Watts tuned very low
swift replied to JimBeam45's topic in Fi Products
Try to get 15cuft net and tune around 28-30 with roughly 200sqin of port. That will do what you want assuming you can build a quality enclosure. -
I will say this. I have never dealt with Skar, never ran any of their equipment and probably never will honestly. But this thread does seem awfully blown up to be from not returning phone calls or emails. FI does this all the time. LOL Of coarse the equipment doesnt even compare and with FI you get a great product but........... That is all. Carry on

Introducing the all new SSA Evil!
swift replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
If the smd dumps so will this both made by the same company so kinda a pointless statement their. True, its almost as dumb as your initial post in this thread. -
What in particular makes you say that? Not sure for his reasoning, I do know some key points that may be. Cheaper build time of only 7 business days (although only one motor left at this time with new ETA of 90 days) higher rms Company is closer to him ~20-30 pounds heavier Really not much cheaper (according to the price posted here) once you factor in the cost of shipping. Shipping would pretty much equal the price out. Tried finding a website with specs on them but google returned nothing but a facebook page. I can pick them up if I needed. So no shipping costs. Maybe 35 bucks in gas? Higher RMS, I know the design and the reasons for the different little ques other motors don't have. I know the owner too, so that helps, probably makes slightly biased. I'm not putting the evil down. Price per performance doesn't seem to be there. Maybe if the evil was 550-600 tops it would seem better. If you know the owner and are so close how come your not running their subs? Just curious

Power Bastards 220?
swift replied to PapaGeno21's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You want something that does well at idle. Some of the companies out here won't do anything until 2k rpm. My Mechman is a beast. -
Dont know how I missed this one. Great build!! Its always best to do it right the first time.

Got the pods mocked up and glued for placement, now I have to wrap it, fiberglass and cover them. I like placement, should sound good I hope.

Subs look great guys!! -
Yes everything but the carpet and kicks will stay the same. The floor looks fine now, but its Second Skin Damp Pro and on top its Luxury Liner. Looks fine in the ole truck though, lol
-
Thanks Well the box wasnt a issue because no one will ever see it, but also the truck has a new black carpet kit and weather stripping coming.

Exactly, verifying my reasonings for what I posted.

I have these and I have drywall T squares, and straight edges as I posted. All 3 have to be measured exact and the same way I described or you will get out of line alittle. The drywall square has to be clamped on both edges and but the free end has to be measured and clamped. I noticed if you trust it and clamp both sides without measuring the free end it can be off 1/8th in. Also a clamp style straight edge is good, but again both sides have to be measured and someway hold the damn thing when you clamp it. It never fails when I clamp down one side tightens just slightly off. Making all of it useless and me only using a standard straight edge for my builds. A T square and clamp edge are good in contruction and building things where being slightly off doesnt matter. I use the highest tooth count blade I can buy. Of coarse it takes me longer to build boxes than most because of this. I learned from a furniture and cabinet maker. Small details and tricks take longer but in the end are very rewarding.
-
I agree. Get a long straight edge like this http://www.lowes.com/pd_119896-1099-AE144_0__?productId=1006479&Ntt=straight+edge&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNtt%3Dstraight%2Bedge&facetInfo= Then get a few clamps. Make sure you measure from the edge of the blade to the edge of the plate on the bottom of the saw. For instance mine is exactly 1.5in if I cut on the right hand side of blade, and a 1/8in difference on the other side of blade. So if I want to cut a 20in piece put my straight edge at 18.5. Also when you use a tape measure Always start at 1in with the same tape measure. Never use the end of a tape measure if you want perfect cuts as they normally have some play in them I could make a quick tutorial vid to show you how to always make perfect cuts if you want.

Gonna try glassing some, will be using bedliner to cover them so they are durable. Will fit the theme also

Got the 55 over at the house this week, gonna try to get most if not all of it done. I needed to run to Lowes, might as well drive it. Truck drives awesome! Box is done. 1.1cu net sealed. Gonna start kicks tomorrow Complete truck is deadened now also
-
Will you be able to maximize your new subs with the current wall space? I didnt know if they required more or less space.
-
haha I know right! Crazy man, grant it, I have no intentions of killing it, but am definately impressed by the amount of power it can take, I don't have the gain down either :peepwall:/>/> Thanks for the kind words Rick! Thanks Tim!! Umm, I'm not sure, I don't think so :(/>/> My vehicle is a little ass backwards it seems when it comes to the general acoustics. Like, its not loud at all outside of the vehicle, only when you actually sit in. one day, one day... lol BS, It shakes the windows at my office before you even turn in the lot. WITH all your windows all sealed up. LOL
