Great information here! Can't wait to how this unfolds.... -
Thanks.....Nice, I liked that set as well. Didn't you have a couple of Flatlyness? It sounds like you have a great set-up now.

I am about to start a build log (finally) but I want to get some final suggestion(s) on my Front stage. It's going in a 1998 Honda Civic 2-door coupe. Big 3 in 1/0. 170 amp alt. XS Power D680 and D5100R (front)-1/0. 4 gauge to amps from D680 that is in the rear. Kenwood 942HD head unit, I use the cross-over controls on the head unit. Previous setup...Kenwoods 5 1/4 co-axials...Front....Pioneer 6X9's in rear. (in car when I brought it) 2 ch 2 ohm (200x2) on the Sundown 125.2 I didn't like it...sounded OK (on mainly Pop and Hip hop) , the rear was always louder than the front stage (which was irritating at times). It wasn't very balanced. I listen to all music Jazz to Death metal...more Metal though...and Electronica music...Traditional Jazz and Acid Jazz on occasion. I had SAZ 1000 on 600 watts 1 12" IA Flatlyne in a sealed enclosure previously....1.25 cu/ft. I always had sealed sub enclosures in the past builds. I currently have the Bravox Audio CS60cf now (front stage)...that is going to be on a Sundown 125.2...(125 x 2) I am trying going for a more of a SQ set-up... I am going to seal and deaden the doors and also the truck for now (using Sound Deadener Showdown CLD Tiles and Extruded Butyl rope) but.... I worry that this Component set may not be enough to balance out my Sub stage (also coming from a sealed 12 to a ported for the first time)...SAZ 1000 on 600 watts 1 12" IA Flatlyne @ 2 ohm tuned at 28hz. in the trunk. So, I was thinking getting an additional Bravox Co-axial set (or just an additional Bravox woofer) to run in a kick panels...like those Q logic ones (after I strengthen them up a bit) Then run them with my CF Component in the doors on a 2 ohm 2 channel set-up all front stage (200 x2). Would this be too much? (4 drivers vs 2.....250 vs 400 watts for front stage) Or they would be other issues? Or would my CS60cf set be good enough in an off-axis setup in the sealed/deadened doors? Let me know....Thanks
-
Thanks! I have heard and read a lot of great responses from this component set.
-
Thanks for the response...I enjoyed your review on them a while ago. I know that you did run a bit more power to them. I am staying with what I have.
-
The first sentence doesn't mix well with the next two. Just run what you have first. Ha! yes, it is a contradiction after re-reading it. I have been working 7 10 hour 3rd shift nights for the past months. I will run what I have, and I am feeling confident that it will reach my goals As far as crossover points, 80 and 100hz (HP & LP) are the ranges that I have used previously (on my head-unit...I think 60 and 120 are the other ranges). I could always use the crossovers on the amplifiers themselves and tune it by ear. I AM concerned with Mid-bass response, and I am wanting to take proper action this install. I am sealing and deadening both doors and the trunk (just for now) and finishing the rest later, once I have a bit more free-time. I will get whatever Don from SDS recommends to me. At this point, I have to get the measurements back to him.

I don't have any idea....hahah...I got the box built, put it in the car....got the batteries....THEN I got laid off 3 months ago I am just finally been able to complete my build within the last month. I loved the Flatlyne sealed...good response in all my music and had the output that I desired. I followed the recommendations from Nick at IA...after I told him what I was looking for, and that is what he suggested. I was originally looking at the DR (actually a while ago), but I liked the build of the Flatyne and it meets my goals for what I want. At the time, I wanted it for a sealed enclosure. I think that the DR has a more output, higher power handling, and it is recommended to tune it a bit higher, from what I understand. I listen to all different types of music, mainly Metal currently...but I will listen to different types of Jazz and electronic-based music as well.

Thanks, that's the direction that I going towards.

Very nice! I like the look of the Classic Icon's
-
Nice and Clean! I always like the looks and performance of those cars as well. They seem to have more room in the hatch area than I expected. Tuned in.

lol, u know us car audio guys need the turbos after we install our stuff just to get back to stock speed, haha. LOL, I noticed my Civic has more of a "weighted" feel to it

X2 They look great! -
where do you buy your wiring from?
karpowr replied to CrazyKenKid's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Great post! I was always curious about the differences in the power wire. -
X2 I loved that "trick" face plate! Sounds great!
-
X2... I ordered my two Sundown amps from him. He was very courteous during my phone calls/emails...and he was very knowledgeable on ALL of the questions that I had for him....about amps/build quality...etc, different subs, and even enclosures. I would confident purchasing any amp from him in the future.

Awesome story of great customer service! Thanks for sharing it.

Who has a flatlyne in a sealed box or heard one?
karpowr replied to a4b7's topic in Incriminator Audio
Wow... a LI on 900 watts! BTW, do the LI and Flatlynes have the same bolt mounting pattern? I am thinking of running a LI 12" in my Flatlyne's old sealed enclosure (1.34cu/ft) for a future home theater setup. The sub rack amp will put out 950rms in 4ohm. I debated on running a Flatlyne as well, your post got me to thinking...... Yes, same mounting Thanks for the info! I am wanting utilize the same H-nuts that are in that sealed box now. -
MECA Freezefest 2011 SPL / "SQL" Event - 2/13/2011
karpowr replied to preswallstreet's topic in Incriminator Audio
Yes, very true! I am curious to have seen/heard how they sounded and the power/enclosure details. I know Steve Cook's Avalanche took SQ Best in Show @ Finals in 2008. I have heard the truck. I sounds awesome and is very dynamic. The subs are very accurate for being 18's. Sounds impressive, I think I've heard of these drivers used so many type of enclosures, to include IB -
Great build coming along! I miss my S40

Fuse, Gauge size, etc
karpowr replied to slim142's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yes, that is the impression that I got. That being said, with any sort of mechanical experience, you should be able to tell if the thread are not adjusted right initially. and the handsaw is also a nice tip.. -
Fuse, Gauge size, etc
karpowr replied to slim142's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I bought their regular ANL fuse holder and a 300amp fuse. Will have this installed by wednesday afternoon when I get my BMW back from service. I have used their 8 gauge kit before and have no complains. Thanks again, it seems like your build is really along quite well
