    97 Honda Civic Hatch

you can get a stinger spv70 for a great price of 200 dollars off of sonicelectronix. you can get em off of sonicelectronix for 200.. they're a group 31 battery.. IIRC smaller than a d31, Which would you recommend for his Bat Group size- 51R...the Stinger SPV35 (good price)....the Kinetic 1400R (good price second in overall power) or the XS Power D5100R? --(the most amount of power) He would need a reverse terminal battery, so the Battery ground connection would match up...

    Welcome to the IHoP

Yes, Dealers and the various Aftermarket warranties make arrangements together...and they set-up 'what' is actually covered, the circumstances of the part or service covered, and they keep prior services records on the vehicle in question as well. The dealership itself gets 'kick-backs' from the warranty policies that they do sell. So, the prices could be very well higher there...than anywhere else. Usually shopping around would be the best recommendation that I could honestly give at this point. I have worked for Ryan, AION, and a few others as a claims adjuster. Basically, I would inspect the higher dollar value claims the vehicles themselves, parts and prior service/maintenance records. I did have to go to some dealerships on a regular basis since they would try to scam the warranty companies...but they also do the same as well to the dealerships. Many times, I would be instructed to deny coverage for claims where the owner had no viable service or maintenance record. Yeah, sometimes it was not a very reputable job, and hence why I don't work in that area in the automotive industry anymore I would suggest finding one outside the dealership, but at the same time....make sure their warranties are honored by other shops...since these aftermarket companies are notorious for denying claims...which ends end in a customer pay....which puts the shop in a bad situation dealing with a furious customer...hence why they don't honor some aftermarket warranty groups. Find any maintenance and service record that you can find on the vehicle, and then KEEP very good records of Everything....even oil and other fluid changes as well as any part changed. (make sure that this part or fluid DOES NOT deviate from any factory specification at all) Also, Be aware that the Aftermarket warranty company inspects the vehicle for any type of modifications different from Factory specifications such as...rims, tire size, and engine/transmission/exhaust/electrical modifications...as well as aftermarket tow hitches...and to what class. Research and read over the policy thoroughly to see what covered, the circumstances...and the deductible if any. Usually they try to roll you into a more expensive coverage...thinking everything is OK....then you have to pay for a dealer to 'turn -off" a check engine light...since that would be considered a diagnostic fee (which is not covered)...and the engine sensor would be covered (sometimes) IF that sensor is included in the power train coverage I can review a one for you if you want...but would need all the information. Also, researching the company too...make sure that there are not too many furious customers out there posting on the internet Thanks for the big reply. Curious as to where you shop around. The local yellow pages is worthless, the internet is worthless (you get 10,000 hits and none of them are clear), I find positive references on forums on companies like Fidelity, but on their site they reference to buy from a dealer. Ugh. I apologize for the late reply to the post, I am in the process of changing jobs at the moment and I now I have to re-visit my curriculum and development strategies that I have used over the years so I can in turn use this data to be beneficial to my new employment. Anyways, it looks that you are closer to or have already purchased. It's hard to really research anything about Aftermarket warranties and then finding credible information about them; other than angry customers who may in fact have not really read the actual warranty themselves thoroughly enough, did keep adequate service records or modified their vehicle from factory standards. I have heard Fidelity is pretty good, though it seems it has to be bought at a dealer...I think that you should be fine, just follow these above 3 things. Thanks. Mercedes Certified for the next 39mo and considering work is leasing it for me for 36 that is enough I am responsible for repairs since it is used and I know this thing will break, but now I don't have to care. All new brakes and tires so the wear items are covered too. Ah, that is Fantastic! I have heard nothing but great things from Mercedes Certified.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Nice Car! I like the 3.8's, great reliable engine. Looks like it is in fantastic shape! I wish I had the extra cash.... Actually, it's not the original engine. I bought it with the good 'ole Series II intake leak. The guy hydro-locked it, and I pulled the engine, installed a 2002 replacement engine and ended up doing a complete overhaul, so it basically has a fresh engine. The paint needs some work though. Somebody either jumped across the roof, or dragged something across it, and then a cart ran down the DS and dented the gas filler door. I can buff everything out, but no time or warm place to do it at, so it goes like it is. It's super-clean though. One-owner old man car. Ah man! What a deal! I Do remember those leaks. When I was a service adviser a Buick-GMC dealership back '02, we saw Quite a few of those instances...in fact the tech we usually assigned the work to...had stacks on pallets of those intakes :-P The replacement intakes and your upgraded engine did perform quite well.

Snow is better than rain. Seriously though, I need to get some new all season shoes on the Honda, I am thinking the Goodyear Eagles. Anyone have any experience with these tires in snow ? OR any other comments on these tires or another recommendation for a tire? I am looking for a VERY queit tire is why I am interested in the GYs, and assume they will wear well and last. I had the Michelin pilot hx mxm4 (on the factory 17's) on my 2007 Honda Civic Si...they handled very well with no issues in snow/ice conditions , but are a little pricey. They handled extremely well overall and they had a very smooth ride quality with absolutely no road noise whatsoever. I was driving at 3 am in Chicago winters on the way to work; ...where there was nothing on the road at that hour but my Honda, 4x4's, and snow plows.

    Lanzar amps?

I have good luck with the Crunch GPV series amps, it was in the car when I bought it. Overall, it did well, although overrated in power. The car had an also had a Lanzar Opti-drive 12" sub which sounded good too. I did like some other Lanzar Opti-drive amps that I've heard in other vehicles. I would stay with the Opt-drive line. From what I learned, Lanzar, Legacy, and Pyramid are owned by the same company, Sound-Around Inc. I would assume that the lower Lanzar lines would be similar to something similar from Legacy or Pyramid. However, I had Sundown amps and IA sub from another build that I was going to do, so I just went with what I had since they also fit my space requirements and I wanted to 2 Ohm load on my IA sub. There is a 2 channel Lanzar opti drive 2402 amp on the classified here, that seems like a really good deal. I forgot to mention that I had Alpine MRP amps in my last set-up, which fit my space requirements, sounded nice and were very reliable. The price seems pretty fair on them too currently.

    experiences with db-r?

I bought my SAZ-1000 and SAX-125.2 'new' from Chris at DB-r, before I knew of anyplace else at the time. He is quite a knowledgeable guy, IMO. I spent many a lunch breaks talking with him on the phone, going over different possible scenarios, as I usually do I think that his shop is an authorized Sundown service facility. I never bought anything refurbished from him, so I could not comment on that. I did get my order fairly quickly, even when they were on back-order at that time...and I got a great amount of customer service and technical support.

    So it was written...

I do remember now that Chris from DB-r did mention this ^, I apologize for not mentioning it earlier. I also wanted the SAZ 1000 to 'cosmetically' match my SAX-125.2 as well.

    So it was written...

I remember Chris from DB-r telling me that the SAZ series were better, and they better crossovers when I was inquiring about them. I went ahead picked up the SAZ 1000 version from him at that time, but I am currently running it on a 2 ohm set-up. My previous set-up; I had a Crunch at 1 ohm , and I did not have any issues...given my electrical upgrades. I think that I've heard that woofersetc bought up the remaining SAZ 1000's, and they are priced $279 new, until they are gone. I never bought from woofersetc, so I don't know anything about their customer service. Funny, I just was on woofersetc since they became a authorized dealer recently... So yea, I was looking at it.... Thanks for mentioning that. Should I def only go for a SAZ??? At the time, I was looking at the SAE-1200D V.2 and the SAZ-1000, the SAZ fit my tight space installation requirements and meet my power goals from what I wanted to do with it.

One of the reason why I have 'things' shipped the local UPS store, with my cell on the address ....the "oh, it's just parts for my car" bit was wearing thin..... especially when she found how much her cousin spent on his car audio! lol Ha Ha, I just ship it to the house and let her find out in due time. I usually just get a look but she don't give me a hard time about it. We split the bills up and have separate accounts. She don't ask me how much things cost anymore and neither do I. Trust me, the girls spend the hell out of some money! Arguing about money pretty much ruined my first marriage and separate accounts is only way to fly. Well, there was that time I tripped and fell, and my wiener accidentally got stuck in another girl, that didn't help either. lol +1, She knows that I really enjoy car audio and 'car things' in general make me happy. She spends money clothes etc, and I rarely spend money on anything else; other than her and my dog I guess as long as my car retains a good practicality level (which is one of my system goals anyways), and she is fine with it. BTW, her boss was wondering where the Blue LED light was coming from inside my car...while I was waiting to pick her up from work last night. She told her boss "it was comes from his car audio set-up; his 'OTHER' girlfriend! LOL volt meter, bass knob light? Bass knob, and the LCD display from my HU, which is sort of bright at night

It costs 5 dollars. I do it for larger, more expensive orders, where I would be sure to snag the invoice and put it out in the garage. They give you a call right when it comes in too. $5.... avoiding conflict = Pricele$$

    Hello to all!

Hello from Chicago to everyone on the forum! I have been reading different posts and build logs quite regularly in the last few months in order to gain the most amount of information as possible. I have been installing car audio since 1993, but I took sort of a hiatus for a number of years since I was in the Army and then college; although I did have had a couple of builds since moving to Chicago. I am just finally getting around to signing in…officially. I purchased some audio equipment quite a few months ago, but I am just finally getting around to installing in my new car…a 1998 Honda Civic… (I was hit by a hit and run-drunk driver last year, which totaled out my other car). I will be creating a build log as soon as I get the pics ready for it, (and post pics correctly) since threads are not very useful if there is no pics. I will reveal my music tastes, build intentions and goals in the build log, as well as the audio equipment that I do have at the moment.

How did you guys find SSA???

I was also looking for infomation on the big 3, and initial sub-woofer/amplifier recommendations/current set-ups. I found the most complete information here and I learned more here on the SSA forum just in a few months as compared to my prior years experience in car audio.

I really enjoyed the review of the CS60CF, of which I own now. I also hope to get them installed this weekend.
