i got a pair of Obcon 12" shark tooth basket subs for free. i looked them up and they sell for $150.00 each. they came in an R/T labyrinth slot ported box that sells for $130.00, i was just wondering if these are any good looks like this: i was thinking about getting a 1200watt pioneer amp for em'
-
by the way, KU.. this is probably a dumb question, but how does running 1 sub in a shared chamber ruin their mechanics. im not trying to chalenge your inteligence because u know 100% more than i do. i'm just curious. hows anyone supposed to learn if they dont ask questions
-
they're in separate chambers. but to be safe i could always take the unused sub out right?

they're 4ohm svc, so i'd be running them at 2ohms parallel -
@frostedflahejake i got them for free from a friend bcuz he bought a single cab truck, so the subs were of no use to him @KU40 i had a 130watt JVC amp laying around so i hooked one sub up to it. i can say that one sub shook all my mirrors and a full powerade off of the trunk, so i guess they'll do till i can upgrade

thanks for all the replies guys, ill probably see if i can get a box made or, i just might sell them.

well i LOVE my bass, but im strapped on cash. actually i love my bass soo much that it got my butt threatened of getting kicked by some 40yr old guy. p.s. by good or bad, i mean are these subs quality or not, will they last or won't they. asically are they just cheap no-names or not?

thanks everyone for the help, I'll try the muti-meter

My friend has a 12" Phoenix Gold Tantrum-X subwoofer. It is discontinued. he bought it from some one for $40 in a sealed box with an 800w Boss Audio amplifier. I believe the subwoofer has a problem because we hooked it up to 2 different amplifiers and it did the same thing. (The amps were properly hooked up and set correctly.) THE PROBLEM: When you start a song the subwoofer will work like normal, but when the bass in the song becomes quiet and there's just lyrics and music the subwoofer will stop working all together. But if you tap on the cone once then the subwoofer will start working like normal again. but once the bass becomes minimal then the subwoofer will stop working, then the process repeats itself. any help/feed-back would be greatly appreciated

we did give it a once-over inspection, but all the leads are solidly connected. so I don't know if there is an internal problem.

4k worth of amps DAAAAAAMMNN!!! Beautiful, just beautiful
-
Take a quick peek at my sig. Yeah I know it's disgraceful Once I get some money maybe I'll be able to upgrade

ooh a competitoin in WI would be pretty cool. (I live in Two Rivers WI.) But I highly doubt that my two little ancient 8" MTX blue thunder subs, in truck boxes, stuffed in the trunk of a '93 geo przm would even be worthy : (
