Need advice on which Amp to use!!!
CT_SRT posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Alright most likely this amp will be powering 2 12" SS RL-P's in a box between 1.75-2^3ft with 20-24^2in of port per sub...tuned to 34hz... Here are the amp choices..price range is under 360.... 1.)Orion 2500D(refurbished from Ikesound kinda worried about that) will be used @ 2 ohms 2.)MA Audio HK-1398 which is 600x2 @ 1ohm stereo, and 1600x1@ 2ohm mono... 3.)Hifonics BX1605D which is 1600@1ohm. All opinions are welcome, please give em to me...Also you guys all seem real knowledgeable so any other Options or Ideas for amps that you might have are more than welcome!!!! THANKS EVERYONE..... -
Hey whats up everyone im new to the forums and just wanted to say whats up, and help me with my decision please.. For the last little while ive been deciding on a system and just recently someone recommended ss subs....Ive been doing nonstop research on these subs, to find out whats the deal, and they are obviously no joke....Either way ill get down to it, heres what else i will be running not includding sub(s) and amp Pioneer preimere deh-P670MP edit now: Pioneer DEH-P80MP Pheonix Gold Ti5Comp Elites Orion 8002(refurbished) or Orion 8004(new) Opinions on these are welcome. KnuKonceptz wiring Now the part I want all the oppinions on..(If it helps i listen to mainly rap, and hip-hop but dont want it to sound bad with techno) Amp choices:Orion 2500D refurbished or Orion 1200D new... Sub choices(i dont car if i take up most of the trunk, just dont know how much trunk space i have..(dodge neon srt-4) 2 12"RL-P's or 2 15" RL-P's or 1 15" RL-S let me know what u think will get the loudest and sound the best while doin it(worried about the 15's keeping up with faster stuff) In the past ive had a JBL 1200.1 power all these setups. 1 12w7 wasnt enough, 1 12 IDmax wasnt enough, 1 18" Beyond Audio Inhuman was enough just too sloppy, and 1 12" brahma wasnt enough.. The w7 and the idmax were sealed, the 18" was in a giganto box with massive port area, and the brahma i dont remember how big the box but set up to there specs.........So let me know what you all think, sorry for the long post just wanted to make sure i didnt leave anything out because i need to figure out a system that works the first time instead of going through all the afformentioned setups in a little under a year and a half like i did be4..THanks again John W

Hey if anyone is from around CT, and could help me or build something for me that would be great,if not is there anyone who can draw me up a box design for 2 12" RL-P's about 1.75^3 feet per sub with 24^2 inches of port per sub tuned to 32 hz, if you need some more info let me know...Thanks again...

Yeah i think my height is exactly 15 inches, so hmm miight eliminate that for me.. I dunno this decisions is so hard.... I though i had it all figured out and differnt options just keep coming up, first i didnt mind spending 500 on subs, now it seems that it might be excessive because maybe for my needs i can find what i want for under 500 u know. Im just so confused, if i didnt have the stupid internet this wouldnt be a problem..lol..I also talked to DJ the owner of Audioque, and he is coming out with a new line thats supposed to get crazy loud and sound amazing, my guess is its a good competition for the Rl-P's for under 200 ...the line is called the SD's..But it will be out in like 2 or 3 weeks.. Im just going insane, i wish people around me actually had these setups so that i could listen too them, but no one around here does that i know of. I honestly just cant decide theres too many options...Mike's a great guy and helped me with like 15 different questions in one day, i just dont know what to do..IM honestly contemplating doing nothing at all, i.e. returning my headunit, selling the Orion 1200D that i still havnt even recieved, returning the 300 dollars of wires and accessories ive bought, because not being able to decide is annoying me soo much...SOMEONE HELP...

hey awesome then ill guess im just tune a little lower.. Anyway a couple of my buddies thinks that a single DD3515 or a single AudioqueHD15 will get louder than the RL-ps and sounds really good doing it...So they've got me kinda second guessing myself, i guess, let me know your thoughts... I need to order this stuff like monday so...Thanks again, especially haydenlake.....
-
That helped alot guys thanks...One last little question, which do u think is basically a better idea to do, tune a little lower, since i pretty much only listen to rap, and rap that gets loud and low, or keep the 32 and get a subsonic filter???Basically which would u do if u were in my exact situation and wanted why ive basically explained so far....is one safer than the other...Alright thanks again everyone...
-
u guys are awesome..why do u think i should tune it lower again..How will tuning it to 32hz not be as safe, can this be fixed with a subsonic filter??I dunno just throwing ideas out there..Thanks again all, would really like to know though because i want it to get as loud as possible, and being that its already really an sq sub, i really dont want to take away more of its ability to get loud...
-
much appreciated brother...I was trying to figure out how to do that calculation like all afternoon..(im a moron) but its good to know from now on, thanks again....
-
really 9 cu feet???that much that wouldl make me soo happy. i was all depressed and drunk all afternoon thinking i wouldnt have enough room for everything...and trying to figure out a dif setup...NO joke thats the specs i got being relatively conservative too...AWESOME...i thought i was gonna have to do like 1 15" or somen....M5 u made my day...NOW SOMEONE HELP ME WITH A DESIGN>....PLEASE
-
I think i might have to figure something else out besides on what i plannned but u guys are the experts so let me know...I just dont know if theres enough room...ALright here are the dimensions.. This is end to end, not allowing any room on any sides Height, 15 inches, would be more excpet for this weird little box hanging down by my 6x9's that i might be able to remove free up 2-5 inches or so... Smallest Width 31," but thats only for a a few inches by the seats and widens out to 35" Length leaving some room between sub and trunk opening maybe 2 or 3 inches is 33" let me know what guys think.. .Maybe for rooms sake i might want to consider a single sub setup(any ideas, that might get as loud) i didnt think it was so small...Thanks
-
Ill get on the info tommorow afternoon....Luckily i just found someone local to buidl the box he's only like 20 minutes from me so i will def save some money which is key.. thanks John

Yeah a while back when i bought my brahma i was looking into alot of RE products, even a multiple se setup, but i have decided on the RL-P's after atfter staying up till the wee hours of the morning finding out as much as i can about this sub the last like week and a half or so....I was so happy someone reccomended me too SS, i usually dont like the "brand name" subs theyere usually to quiet and too pricey for my taste and they only one i have owned was a w7 ....ANd i like supporting the real companys out there, the NO. BS i dont need some stupid lights on my woofer to make u buy it type chit..lol...Thanks for the suggest though 70 is a deal on those, and im still trying to figure out whats goin on with the box,(i live in CT but thanks for the offer) im even contemplating building one myself, but am very worried about that...

Someone told me to come check this place out if i wanted information on Soundsplinter subs, and they could help immensly with alot of things...

Ok ill be adding maybe 100-150 pound of weight which eqauls about .1-.15 in the quarter if i even cared... If i wanted it to be that much faster id be spending my money of a 50 trim turbo kit, and not my system But it is winter time and i have other priorities. .. SO now its a 13.8 quarter mile, which i can definately live with, and its quite fast already.....but it will be a slower...but ittl get crzy loud

PMED U HCCAfan..... On a side note does everyone really think this amp is enought to power these subs compared to them getting about 850 watts a piece?????? -
Kool i think ive made up my mind, but hey keep the oppinions rolling in if u got em.....I think they will be perfect for my setup though... Oh yeah to answer a preevious post i have none of those subs, all sold very quickly after using them, and I have absolutely no box building skills...lol

Thanks for ur help so far guys... BUt i can get the orion 2500d, around 50 bux cheaper refurbished than a new 1200D(whcih i was considering just figured from what ive read and the people i'd talked too wasnt enough power for the RL-ps to get really loud) maybe i am wrong and 1200 is enough for these puppies, and i know the 1200d is underrated but i figured the 2500d might leave more options open as well in the future u know??? WHat can HCCAFAN get it for? i found it for about 400 new... -
WOW i didnt know it was that much less...Thank god for direct pricing lol.. My concern is not cost i was just stating at 550 i thought it was a little rough for something comparable to the RL-P but at 400 shipped that is a freakin deal...IM not saying anything bad about theses subs and im not trying to, IM just trying to get a feel for what they are similar too, thats all..SO thanks again for the info it is much appreciated, i switch systems up alot so im sure this will be a part of mine when its time to make some changes down THE road(i have some weird unconscious need to test all the great subs)..THanks again.. JOhn
