do you think i might need to cut down on air space?
-
this is my plan. im building a box that has 4 nightshade 15s. i designed the box on a 3d program to scale. the box is 19.5 cubes. the port is 7inches wide and 38.5 inches tall. that gives me 269.5^2 inches of port area and i need 12-16^2 inches of port area for each cube of airspace. so ill make the port area requirement. the box is tuned to 30hz. i will also be having all the walls 1.5inches thick. everything will be liguid nailed and screwed together.what you guys think? i cant seem to get the pictures to upload. i dont know how to get it from google sketchup to a image hosting site. any help with this?

^^ Low and loud daily.
-
why would you use that much port area? just wondering forgot to mention, when i talked to jacob, i think, from sundown, he suggested those numbers
-
im about to be building a pretty big box that will be housing some serious drivers. i wanted to know which one would be the best option, nails or screws? ive always finished nailed all my boxes together but i also put liquid nail on everyone of them. the walls of this sub box will be 1.5" thick. so would it be best to screw them together? i just hate how long it takes to screw it all, thats why i prefer nails

i know both of the subs i want are really good. i just dont know what subs i want yet. its either going to be between the ssa xcon 18s or the sundown 18s. im going for more spl then anything. which one would put up more numbers? this is what i plan on doing to my truck no matter what. i already have the entire cab sound deadened. i have 4 super big interstate batteries to power everything, big 3, dual alts. so which one would be the best option for me?
-
ill just go ahead with the 15s then. what do you think i should do with the amps? maybe get 2 3500s? or should i go with 4 saz1500s and strap them to 1ohm?
-
well guys, new option. i just found out that i can purchase 4 nightshade 15s. would that put up more numbers then the 2 18s? i know i would a good bit of amps, but i just sold all 3 of my quads today. so i should be good.
-
i really want to run the saz3500s. only reason im going to be spending this much money on audio, is because i was forced to sell my racing quads because of a shoulder injury. i forgot to mention, i plan on making the walls of the box 1.5 inch

thats what i was thinking, just need some help with it. does anybody know the weight of one of these? when i start building this box, i want to have something that will support the weight of the sub when i mount it.
-
does anybody know where i can find some? ive been searching for a little while now for downloads, but i cant seem to find them. any help is greatly appreciated.

your a life saver, thanks

ok. i think i might have the box ready to go with all the deminsions. i play on putting 2 sundown nightshade 18s in my truck. i was told it need 12^2-16^2 inches of port area. so the box i came up with is 11.5 cubes, with a a port that is 33 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide, this will give me 181.5^2 inches of port area and i need 184 with the box size. its going to be tuned to 30hz. will this work out to be a good box? or do i need to do something different, just let me know
-
seeing as i finally decided i want to wall off my truck, i need a few opinions and specs. i was wanting to know if a 14^3 box would be to big for 2 18s. i want the box tuned super low, and i've already done some calculations, and with a 14^3 box and the 4" ports i already have made. it would tune the box to 22-23hz. so the other thing i need to know, is what do one of these subs require for port area. with 6 4" ports, i have around 75^2 inches of port area. would this be enough? or do i need to go with bigger ports?
-
im sorry guys, i totally forgot i need the port area for the size box, dont know what i was thinking. thanks, but as far as the box goes, is 14^2 a bit to big for the 18s?
-
im thinking about ordering 2 bl 10s. ive been checking out the specs of the driver, but i cant seem to find the weight. can anybody help me out?
-
ok, im have a big, big problem right now. i dont know what i want to do with my truck. im really into the whole "wall your truck out and go deaf" thing. but now that i have a extended cab truck, i dont know that i want to do it. im still trying to decided on giving up all that room to do this. i was talking to a friend, and he asked what if people wanted to go ride around and stuff. so i dont know what i really want to do. im stuck in the middle here. on one side, i love car audio and on the other, i like chilling with the friends. can anybody sorta led me in the right direction?
-
as promised, here are some pictures. keep in mind im not a photographer by anymeans haha. anyway, this is what i have to work with under the rear seat. i know i can fit atleast 1 8" sub under it. or if anybody has some input, please let me know?
-
this might sound extremely dumb. where can i find those? i looked on their website, and i only see a discontinued 8.
-
i took a height measurement from the floor to under the seat and i have just about 10 inches to work with. i couldnt get that many measurements because it is still raining and all. will try to get some tomorrow though
-
well, i usually have 4 people in my truck no matter what. i was kinda thinking. instead of going for a straight spl build, maybe i can fit 2 8s under the backseat? ive seen some 8s that can actually move some air. and if i build the box right, i know i can get it to hit. im just going to have to get some pictures and let yall take a look at them and tell me what you think.

In the market for a Lift Kit or Air Ride.

honestly it all depends on what you want. it can start from 2 and go up to like 6. it all goes down to the fabrication, time and equipment used. -

if your wanting to put bags to lift it, thats even more aggravating to deal with. thats a good bit more money then just a normal lift kit. but if a lifted bagged truck is done right, it looks extremely good. it basically all comes down to how much money you are wanting to put into the setup -

he was talking about laying your truck and having it tuck 26s. it would take alot of frame work and moving around engine bay parts to have the room to even get 26s to fit. and even once you get them in, the size of the entire wheel will be around 30 or so inches. you would have the top of your tire rubbing your hood. so you would have to cut the hood in order to tuck the tires. ill find a picture to show you what i mean -
ill do what i can. matter of fact. ill probably go get some now if it stopped raining. i WILL sacrifice some bass for comfort and more passenger area. but i still want to bump. im kinda looking for that wow factor also.
