Hey guys I stopped by a local car audio shop today and talked with a salesmen for almost an hour. 90% of their products are Kenwood and he swears by them. He had a lot to say and I was just wondering if it was true because there were some things I have never heard. He said that running an amp at 1 ohm is a bad idea because the sound quality drops significantly. He also said that you should spend more on your box than on your subs because the box is responsible for 75% of your bass. He also had very little good to say about Fi or sundown but that scosche is a very well respected for their sub woofers and amps I don't know if any of it is true or not but if you guys have any insight on this that would be sweet. Thanks, Matt

Thanks for the answers so far guys. One more question though he mentioned that having a sealed box with nothing inside it was a bad idea. something about sound waves echoing or something to that effect.

That's interesting you say that. His recommendation was a ported box from kenwood's Freak series. I don't care how cool the box was they wanted $550 for it.

Hey guys I'm upgrading my system and I'm buying a 12" Fi SSD. I have been researching amps but I'm not sure what to buy. I don't want to break the bank with this amp. What amp have would you guys recommend? By the way I need to be able to fit 0 gauge in it. Thanks in advance, Matt

Help with amp options

thanks, I really like that amp it looks like a steal! But can I fit 0 gauge wire in it? If at all possible I would like to keep it under $300, I haven't ordered the sub yet but I was thinking dual 2ohm. -
I found these specs ~4 cuft net tuned to 32 Hz 16" h x 40" w x 20" d Port is 14.5" x 4", 30" long. To get 30", you make the side port wall so it extends into the box until it is 4" from the back wall, then add a piece 10" long running parallel to the back wall. Box is .75" thick, except the baffle is 1.5" thick. I made this in sketch up to specs I wanted to see if it looked right. besides the port being off the ground i think it is. I am new to building sub woofer boxes so any help is appreciated

I looked at the boxes on the link and they look good. I think I will go with their design. Thank you all for your help, nobody else on other forums was nice enough to help.
