Looking for a larger sub to replace my two 10's
Notorious on mobile replied to gonzala's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Just FYI, I had my 15" SSA Icon sub on a 650 watts rms amp (@ 4 ohms) and it was sounding soooo good with the proper box! It is in the same league as the Fi Q. The Sundown Z15 v1 was on sale for about $ 200 lately : take a look. It's better to run a 12" in a big enough box rather than a 15" in a too small box. Good luck -
Contact the ssa shop, you never know!

Anyone have experience with the RE XXX components?
Notorious on mobile replied to deernet's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
You don't need to change amp, at all. But if you really want to, just run the 600-4 bridged to your comp set. Try to set the gain by ear, and don't care about the power. You will know when the speakers distort. -
Flush mount AND double baffle would be nice. But heavier, there would be 3 pieces of mdf.

Notorious on mobile replied to deernet's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I don't think RE told anyone to send 250 watts to these babies !!! What did you expect ?!! They look pretty, high quality. But I never listened to them. Try to listen to what they sell in your local shops, and tell us what you like or dislike. Then.......ask M5 ! He knows his sh* -
Try to read some more here. You will have more ideas of what you can do. Look at the build logs and the 3 different sub forums for the customs shops(Audibel, PTS, Fisher customs). I would not go for 4 type r's. (I love my Xcon) :)

Totally Agree.

Welcome ! You've just saved a lot of money : a 3500 D is expensive and needs big power to work fine. The saz 1500 is a nice choice for the Havoc.

Nice choice of equipments. I've never heared any DLS speakers, but the Focal set is really great. This Clarion h u is beautiful. I wanted a Clarion amp because they were not too expensive, but finally I got a Subdown sax 4.50. To run my focal set. It's the first time I have matching amps in my car. (Saz1500 D for my xcon 15) Good luck with your build.

Thank you for these informations. When I win at the lotery I will try one SMD sub, for sure. I would love it! They look so ...different.

Kickin Kia's Suv is now on the Sundown Audio's Ride's Page
Notorious on mobile replied to Kickin Kia's topic in Sundown Audio
Congrats ! I would be proud to have my car there. I will take a serious look at the Sundown site. -
whats the biggest baddest most power hungry monster of a sub?
Notorious on mobile replied to aimone's topic in Off Topic
What is your goal OP ? Spl comps ? music ? Burps? Give your budget, the size of the box you can afford, your car,...and so on It's the only way to have some help. -
1) Build or buy a big ported box for your Q. 2) Sell the sx. 3) Enjoy your Q with your amp. 4) If you need more, try to sell the Q while you save for another sub. You will use your custom box for the new sub. Just my 02 cents.

Damn...that will be a big system !!! 2 SSA Xcons will love these Kicker amps. 12", 15", 18" ? Depends of the size of your box. But there are so much subs in the market. I just love my xcon! Give us some more info to have more help.

AA SMD or DC lvl5 15"
Notorious on mobile replied to Typicaljawaiian's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I am not an spl guy at all, but I think I saw that the Sundown Nightshade can play in smaller boxes than the others. Take a look. Good luck with your purchase, and show us pics of what you choose. -
You can have 5 cu ft gross for the box, and you want to be louder than your cvx's ? It sounds like a btl on 2000 watts. The size of the sub should depend only on the size of the box. It's something I learned on this forum ! :)

Got my 12" BTL and My BOlts and Tee nuts, But the Bolts dont fit..
Notorious on mobile replied to antonmiller's topic in Fi Products
I would just buy what fits. You would take a chance to have problems with a sub like that just because you didn't buy the right bolts? Come on man! Get some cash, save some on ...whatever you want...but buy smaller bolts !!! You will use those big bolts for something else later. -
Wrong ! RECEIVING audio products is far better!!! I hate the wait !

Pxa-h100 is it capable of an active front stage?
Notorious on mobile replied to hondakilla98's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I don't think it is a good idea to run a comp set in a passive setup. Keep your passive filters. When you change your speakers, you will buy some to make a 2 or 3 way active system. Just my 2cts. -
Want to upgrade amp, and need feedback
Notorious on mobile replied to Danknugs18's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Get the sae 1200d with your bl, if you feel the need to change!! Do the big3 as soon as possible, and get a voltmeter. BTW the saz 1000 accpets 4 ga power and ground wires. The sae 1200 : 0ga. -
H/U and 3-way active
Notorious on mobile replied to tejcurrent's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Interesting. I want to know what will be the options. -
I don't see why you would have reliability problems with the xcons. There must be reconable. Take a look at the ssa Icons, they go low And loud ! But remember : it is box dependant. Make sure to build the right box. I'd go Icons over L7s. (I had both, and have a 15" xcon by now) Type Rs are known for beeing loud and cheap, but I've never heared them.

2 18"s'in an Astra? Maybe in a wall, or without the backseats? Only one ported can hardly fit in the trunk. Tell us more.

Differences between sub sizes
Notorious on mobile replied to thebiggmann12's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
With a 15" you can have your backseats back ? I would go for it ! It's always cool to have them. For groceries, friends, whatever... If you don't compete, a 15" nightshade must be "enough" !!! It's up to you ! -
That should be THE best solution ! OP : think about it! You got room for a good ported box for an Icon 12 !
