    1997 Jeep Wrangler

do you have any subs in yours? I'm very curious to see how much my doors and roof flex. The doors on the jeep are pretty slim and the roof is plastic or some polycarbonate Nope, rocking the factory system with the rollbar attached box overhead for the rear speakers. The current system has gotta go, but it's pretty far down the list of systems to work on (truck & GN). Plus it's gotta get a winch and bumper first ($$$$'s) since I don't like using a com-a-long and high-lift jack to get myself out of mud holes.

    Blues Production Sub's. . . . . . . Remember

I have one of those factory Tri-Sobaric boxes. It will be the sub in another room's small system I'm putting together. A Tri-So's would look really cool if the front is done with some 1" plexi for the box front with some led lighting. Rich and I have talked about doing this. The dual Tri-So will probably stay put in the home theather. Jimmy and I are cooking up some sick ideas for the sub stage in the GN. So, that means the GN is coming out of retirement, but the $6000 estimate for paint has put a crimp in the plans. Working on getting a spare mostly stock motor/trans in it now.

    Blues Production Sub's. . . . . . . Remember

How did I miss this one? I use the Dual Tri-Sobaric from one of my GN installs as the sub in my home theather (it's all Blues). I took it out to build a "lighter" setup (a ported 12, GN go faster). Don't worry if you've never heard of a Dual Tri-Sobaric, Ray and I built it at his shop many years ago (I think Rich was there also). I can't remember if it was the 1st or 2nd one ever built. But a modded 5002 (running 8 ohm mono) sure could make that box wail. We built it ported lower (28 hz) than the standard Tri-So box (36 hz, i think). It shakes stuff off the walls in the house (my wife hates that). I'm running an old Onkyo amp on it that's rated 150x2 @ 8 ohms, so I figure I'm getting about 225x2 running it at 4 ohms stereo.

Sticky stuff don't like any surface that has every been Armor All'ed. Been there tried that, it will not stick. Rubbing down with alcohol or cleaning solutions don't work. The Armor All type products are absorbed into the pores of the plastic. The set with all the holes is an old set. I also have the set that came in the truck and a new set in the boxes. Not my 1st rodeo.

Sounds like it's going to be a tight fit with all the "junk in da trunk". I guess the amps could serve as bottle warmers.

No kidding that the dash is not our friend. We've (Ray, Jimmy, me) have been messing with tweeter position for 3 weeks with not "great break through". Haven't been able to enlist Mike yet because of our schedules. Going to the new 6 and new x-over is a great help, but not there yet. Ray and I messed with it a couple of hours Sunday afternoon. Jimmy and I bounced ideas for 2 hours Monday evening. Not there yet, but I have a set of pillars full of screw holes.

You will need to ask Ray. Not sure what Blues business info he wants "out there". So, I'm gonna be like Shoultz from Hogan's Heros - "I know nothing, nothing!".

Uh, no, no, . I may be crazy, but I ain't insane. Besides, the wife would kill me for cutting up a $50K truck. I couldn't bring myself to cut the front doors for the HAT L8's, so they never went in the doors. I already had one install that had a bad case of metal mites. That 78 Regal had 2 Kicker C18's where the rear seat used to live, 4 Kicker C6.5's in the front doors, 3 Kicker 4's in the dash (1 in center channel), Kicker ND25's in the doors, Kicker 5 1/4 and D20 in custom rear deck. LP 5002 on subs, LP 1752 on 6's. LP 1752 on 4's & tweets, LP 952 on rear, LP 452 on center. SQ_MGB can tell you how insane it was for the mid-late 80's. 143-144 db with the mic at ear level, not on the dash or in the floor, no bracing, no concrete. It used to bow the side windows out about an inch. It could launch a 16 oz Coke off the roof. I had my fun with it, it's a young guys game now, I'm chillin' in my old age.

Looks good. Color match turned out great. I shed a tear for my 18's, but they were many years ago.

I don't think so. I was at the shop Sunday afternoon. We were working on the truck. Call me. j-roadtatts - I'm waiting just like everyone else. Mine have been paid for since I heard the prototypes several months ago. Have some patience. Getting a company up and running is a huge PITA. Ray and I have talked about this at length and he sets the bar pretty high. Blues will be a very high quality product when released.

Oh yea, Ray and I talked last night about his Lighting/Saleen combo and my big azz diesel truck/GN combo. Told him I let him have the keys to the truck, but not the GN. He might start having some 150mph flashbacks. The Lighting should be better than our trucks with it's high/forward in door woofer location. He talked about using a pair of oldies, but goodies in the GN that would use 4 slot loaded 8's. You can talk with him about it. Jimmy and I are still talking about 4 12's run AP on 2 5002's and maybe 4 6 1/2's or a pair of 8's in the doors on another 5002. I might want to turn the volume knob. Yes, it is your best install. But, it has been a PITA to keep you on track. Like I said earlier, it's taken all 3 of us (Ray, Jimmy and me) to keep you on track. I think that there were even some threats of butt kickin if you changed to one of your off the wall ideas. Hello , if you lived here, you would have a lot more help! I had to get that jab in. How many years have we been helping each other on installs or just stuff? Helpin out ain't nothing but a thang.

I guess I need to keep mine top secret! Hide my truck in Ray's back yard or something. Too damn far to hide out in Springfield, but hold it Ray ain't there. The new Blues are insane.

Pods turned out very nice. You're like me, the kicks have to go. My image is low (top edge of dash, not mirror) and female vocals wander, so it throws off my stage. 18's do make your eyeballs vibrate. I had a pair in my Regal, back in the day (way back). Love the creative use of plumbing fixtures. Gotta make time for the kiddies, even though they can drive you nuts. At least mine drive me me nuts!

whodat - Your buddy didn't happen to be Rusty, who used to work at DECA? We had not seen him in years. Good to connect again. The Ford SUV was Ray's Escape. Kick ass is a very good way to describe the Escape! And yes, Cable has some work to do and he knows it!!!! Rusty did not listen to mine, but he didn't miss anything. My current install has the old Blues stuff in it. It doesn't sound bad, but it doesn't touch the new Blues drivers. Sir-Lancelot - Most of the Blues drivers are still being made. Which is why some of us are still waiting on our drivers. For more information contact Ray on the Linear Power site.

Nope, not playing, just hashing out ideas for the truck. Interesting ideas on the GN's next system. Though I'm NOT looking forward to it being in super modified. The GN seems headed that way with a big head of steam. He said Bev's car would be done before his. Sounds like a 6 & tweeter front end and IB subs for her. He still hasn't decided on a sub setup yet for the HHR. He has to get his workshop set back up before being able tostart on the HHR. He plans on lots of funky, one-off custom wood, fiberglass and metal work in it.

Shoot me some info on that alt. Looks easier to do that then the dual alt upgrade on my truck. Not sure if it would be any cheaper though.

Jimmy was at the house the other night. We were playing with tweeter locations, discussing pluses, minuses, unknowns. Gotta get my 500's over to TIPS for checkups and tweaks. Also gotta get my crossovers updated. Guess I'll end up taking a couple of days off and borrow Ray's saw (since mine is dead) to work on my box.

Tons of fun tearing it apart and putting it back together 3 times on Friday to tweak. Completely different system on Friday night than when you showed up at my house Friday morning with lot's o help from the Grand Master. Glad I missed the late Saturday night (after the show!), into the wee hours Sunday morning tweak session. Don't worry, grab your , the Grand Master is already making plans for the experimentation on mine. Let the madness begin!!!
