    build or buy subwoofer enclosure

If you're good at wood working, have the tools and the time than building it yourself is usually the better route than having the local shop do it. The main SSA page lists recommended enclosure specs for the icons. You can also play around in WinISD with the Icons' T/S specs to model a few different alignments (see how volume and tuning affects frequency response). You're also going to want to measure your available space in the vehicle for the enclosure, determine the volume, subtract each driver displacement (~0.24ft^3), and now you have an idea of at most what your max volume is. Wood, bracing, and port will be the next major displacements that dwindle that volume down. This goes into a little more detail: http://blog.stefanhinote.com/designing-a-ported-enclosure/ *Substitute any links in the above article with: http://bitpusher.in/ As mentioned above the Khaotic enclosures are pretty sweet if they happen to fit your vehicle.

I just use a hair trimmer. I know it's not shaved smooth and shit, but it takes five minutes, and I no longer look like an al qaeda. I usually do that too. Somewhere between stubble and beard. New job says clean shaven, so at least through training. And if I wake up late I can grab and go vs a razor needs water etc etc. Figured the new job called for it. How much was the braun?

Considering going active would like advice.

You don't need any pink noise generators or mics. You use your ears.

all of these would have to be tested by the user, not recommended over the interwebs.. Exactly lol. ----- Installing a RF 360.3 or minidsp is a cake walk. You can install it, or have a shop install it. From there you will need to tune everything. Netbook off craigslist + minidsp (2way) can be had for less than $400.00 RF 360.3 still requires a computer for tuning--IIRC.

99% of the time prefab enclosures are suboptimal. I don't know how much free time you have, but you could build a fiberglass enclosure over the course of a few weekends, and materials would cost around $100-180 If you did go this route than you'd need to be willing to practice glassing before doing the enclosure. See what your local shops would charge to build an enclosure. Perhaps they can make everything out of mdf, and won't cost a "ton."

So I'm browsing this thread on a linux forum for keeping a laptop running while closed, and this guy replies: OMFG. R U FURREAL?

No. The volume is already slim, and another port would displace more volume. Plus you wouldn't be able to achieve a specific tuning unless you adjusted the stock port length as well.
