Grab a digital multi-meter, and check the voltage on the remote turn on at the amp when the car is running. Is the power wire wired directly to the battery, with a fuse?

Remote desktop doesn't lag much? If so that's pretty sweet.Not really, as long as you have good internet its pretty decent. Better than working at the computer on a slow machine

That headunit is not capable of active processing. Since you're limited on funds I'd go with a component set upfront, and an amp when you can afford it (think used amp). Only then would I consider replacing any speakers in the back. When you replace the front speakers I'd sound deaden the doors as it'll make a big difference.
