my budget for sub(s) is $400, I've been looking at either getting two sa-12s, two dcon 12"s, or a single xcon 12" My goal is to get loud, (don't want it for burps and competition tho) enclosure will be ported, I have plenty of room (3-6.5cubes) I'm assuming two sa-12"s would be louder than the dcons and louder then a single xcon. But then again I could be full of s***. I'll be powering it with an sae-1200d (1200watts). What would you do? I know the xcon is an amazing sub, but I also figure there is no replacement for displacement AND i'll only be running 1200watts so it won't be at its full potential. P.S: the only subs I have heard besides mine (10" type-r...) is two rockford fosgate punch3 12"s on like 300 watts in a prefab box (and it made me happy, so i'm expecting to have an eargasam from my future subs) -Stefan

What size is your enclosure? volume, sealed, ported? sealed.. 1.5 cubic feet. per sub.. The recommended enclosure size sealed is 1.12cuft each, so your close enough. Heres a link to the manual Linky The mounting hole diameter is 10.91 inches, so make sure the holes that are already made aren't larger then this. They only handle 200 watts, and you have 250watts total (125watts to each sub), so don't get all jumpy and turn the gain all the way up or they aren't gonna last very long

Since I've got some time before buying, I was going to experiment with my Shiva and see how well it works. Thanks for the link. Interesting read. I really wish this sale was going on in July or August, or that I had the funds right now. I'd buy two of these in a heartbeat. I felt the same way when the sae-1200d v2 were on sale, but it turned out to be good cause I found an awesome deal on a saz1500. but yeah test out positioning with your shiva and then you at least have a better idea of what you want to do with your new build.

Ouch, if your friend from Houston bought the alt in the states then brought it back to Pakistan, would you still have to pay the 300% on imports? Man I feel for ya, couldn't imagine paying 3x everyone else does =/ -

Have you actually tried contacting the companies? Or are you strictly looking on their sites. I know DC Power makes alts for a lot of vehicles that aren't even listed on the site. Where do you live? and why does it cost so much to get stuff there? -

2008 Saturn Vue. Those were another possibility. Here's an article talking about firing direction of enclosures, Which way to point your subwoofer box If I were doing this, since your enclosure is going to be small, I'd get the box made, put it in your car and listen to it and change the direction it points until it sounds the best. If you wanted to try downfiring you could rest the edges of the box between two pieces of wood so the sub has space between it and floor. I could be wrong (so someone correct me I am), but I think it's safe to use the radius of the subwoofer size as the distance between the cone and floor. So for example, 12" would be ~6" away from floor. Hopefully someone else can chime in on this

I don't think two batteries is gonna cut it man, and your stock alt is tiny as is. Even if you run it at 4ohms, aren't you going to want to take full advantage of your driver and amp in the future? To me you mine as well buy a new h/o alt and in the mean time run it with the most power you can get without massive voltage drop. -
Perhaps you need to add some midbass drivers to your sound setup
-
From what I've read, downfiring can increase the output. Is this wrong? Depends on the vehicle, whats your vehicle

Congrats on your purchase, I bet it feels good now that is been shipped and you'll have it soon Be sure to post a review

like everyone else ? He's not like me !!!!!!!!!!! And I'm not regular ! I don't know if he's a regular dude, but the Tahoe is really not regular (with so much thousands watts in it). so you consider your self to be better then other people on this forum? and around the world?? so what your telling me is that steve and you are mainstream celebrities? or maybe? chill out. Love watching all you vids and build logs, you do amazing work man. lol i just think its funny when cats think they are big time when they are popular with a lil group of people.. if you only knew bout me.. lol that guys has to be with steve.. In one breath you say why do people admire him and his work so much and that hes nothing special, and in another breath you talk about how popular you'd be if people knew who you were. Sounds like your jealous, maybe not. Either way, No one honestly cares, if your the record holder in your class in meca or usaci thats great for you and you have my uttmost respect or if your just another person who loves bass EDIT: saw in your previous threads you don't know much, so being a record holder is out of the question, and considering 200 bucks was a lot for you to get at the time (which is for me too sometimes) it's probably safe to say your not a rich celebrity either. So to me, your just jealous of his work. Normally I don't flame and be a dick, but whatever I just don't see the point on ragging on people who admire SMD work.
