need some help choosing sub size

Ahh ahh ahh (2) SMD 15" will smash on 3 12's when it comes to motor force. ok... well he seems to be set on fi btls, so yeah...

need some help choosing sub size

I know in Jay-C76's build link his box sure isn't rectangular So I would say that yes you can do it and shouldn't have a problem, but i'm not sure how it would affect tuning. I'm guessing it doesn't change.

    Steel Enclosure

I'll rephrase then, how does it effect the sound outputted? that work for ya? m5 Could you expand on a strong enclosure not always being good for spl? Since I got you in the thread, I mine as well learn something from you too

  16. No problem, hope you can get your alt and not pay triple

need some help choosing sub size

That would give you a lot more room to play with. What subs are you looking at? Knowing the sub can help figure out what volume requirements they need.
  18. ssh

    2 12" SSD's VS 1 15" BTL

The ssds will get loud, not saying the btl isn't. Check this out
  19. ssh

need some help choosing sub size

Welcome to SSA. I agree with watts09, put whichever you can fit with proper volume. 3 12's may have more motor force then 2 15's just another thing to consider

    Im ordering a sub

Then you can run 2000wrms, they do not list peak power because it's a stupid spec example: engine makes 300hp at 5000rpm (redline), but for a very short period of time it can make 350hp at 7000rpm and then it BLOWS and makes 0hp forever...
  21. ssh

    Im ordering a sub

How about you tell us what subwoofer your talking about..., i'm assuming the BTL since you posted 2000watts, but only a guess BTL=2000w BL=1000w Q=1000w SSD=800w IB=550w These numbers change depending on if you add cooling, heat ring, etc. But it's safe to say you run the above numbers to each sub. What type of enclosure do you have? Or getting built. Size of enclosure increases/decreases power handling as well
  22. I'm sure theres h/o alts that are 300 bucks but whether there reliable or not is another question, I know DC power makes quality alts and they have a lower line thats $390. A lot a guys on the forum have aftermarket alts and should be able to tell you what to buy and what not to buy hopefully they'll chime in
  23. Swapping alts should be easy, but i don't know how difficult rebuilding one is, but if you rebuilt it you still aren't going to get as much out of it as a h/o one. Could you pay for the alt online, have it shipped to your friend and have him bring it back?
  24. ssh

    orion cobalt 12 inch

What size is your enclosure? volume, sealed, ported? sealed.. 1.5 cubic feet. per sub.. The recommended enclosure size sealed is 1.12cuft each, so your close enough. Heres a link to the manual Linky The mounting hole diameter is 10.91 inches, so make sure the holes that are already made aren't larger then this. They only handle 200 watts, and you have 250watts total (125watts to each sub), so don't get all jumpy and turn the gain all the way up or they aren't gonna last very long yeah just going to replace them so i can sell the box subs and amp for 300 only used it for less then a week.. lol my friend wants them.. 600 system for 300 she is getting a good deal.. dont you think? Well I don't know what RF amp you have, the box isn't worth much considering its prefab, and the subs are like $55 each
  25. This thread is so old, could this just be closed by a mod
