Big 3 done wrong?
ssh replied to mikeb890's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
its insurance. the fuse is there just in case you get into a front end collision and the power wire gets pinched, which would short your battery and have the potential to turn a minor accident into a major fire and/or total loss is it necessary for operation? no. is it worth the $20 to put it in? depends on how much you value your car. im scared to ask, but how much does a shop charge to do the big 3, if you dont mind me asking. Interesting i'll keep that in mind. Paid about $85 at the shop. Wish i just did it myself though and saved that money toward an optima yellow top since my stock battery is awfullllllllll next time try doing something yourself and post here for help if you need any -
Ha, there is your first mistake. Don't assume the posts are labeled correctly. Test it yourself. So you are saying that Alpine's instructions may be at fault? All I know is that the amp is supposed to be bridged all the time so you don't have to do any extra wiring. The sub as well, but there is something clearly wrong as there is nomway that a 1000 watts is going to that sub. Guess it is time to upgrade my crappy multi meter. He's not saying the instructions are wrong, but the terminal posts on the actual driver may be switched around

Enclosure Build for BanginGMC (Two 15 Inch *Surprise*)
ssh replied to Argent Audio's topic in Argent Audio
notice the depth for the beastly drivers I think everyone knows by now what your putting in -
How much are you asking for the older btls? I coulda swore I saw an older one listed somewhere just the other day... I'll post back if I remember where. Goodluck
-
What would the impedance be? And as M5 suggested, why don't you just build another enclosure? wood is cheaper then another set of drivers. Is the frequency response from 2 drivers in an enclosure verse 1 going to be that noticeable to the ear?

Input Sensitivity switch question

Mind posting the answer so others who search and have the similar issue can learn something -
This has nothing to do with Fi. What amp are you using? What does your electrical consist of? two alts, one for stock wiring, and second for stereo? Or are you using a step down? An amp is only going to make so much power and turning the gain up to try and increase power will just lead to clipping, not more power.

Made a wallpaper for myself, if interested, post your screen resolution and I'll resize it

assuming .75" mdf, your around 4.8cubes and vaguely 32hz... But first select the tuning you want and make port length adjustments, not the other way around..

Man have I missed a TON, but it sure was fun to see all the progress all at once!

^rofl Unfortunately none of us are sharing your computer so we can't access your harddrive... Upload the image to imageshack.us or some other image hosting site. And provide us with some goals. Are you going for spl over sq or vice versa, what amp are you going to use, how much power, etc...

Arizona~ Southwest AutoFest~ 2x Pnts MECA Event 8-14-2010 & 8-25-2
ssh replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Competitions & Other Organized SPL/SQ Events
ahh, come on, your not going to make the treck up there?! lol The money I'd spend would buy me a couple batteries (which we all know I need ) Once I have a new alt and batts then I'll make the next one that way people can't make fun of my voltage... pshh, they've made fun of my voltage for ever, but I just don't care. yeah but I dont remember seeing a voltmeter in your car so no one knows I guess I could just cover mine haha, but I really wanna take advantage of my strapped amps before I give demos -

How to PROPERLY set subsonic filter with ported enclosure
ssh replied to mikemihai's topic in General Fi
Let's use 30hz as an example... disconnect speakers turn ssf counter-clockwise until it's considered "off" play 30hz tone at volume 10. Measure the voltage output Let y = voltage output * 0.707 turn ssf clockwise until voltage output now matches "y" Now your ssf is set. -
Off the top of my head I don't know the rms for the Q, but it's always okay to run less then rms to a speaker, as long as your not driving the amp into clipping to get it "louder"

yeah cause I read that and wasn't sure if this was serious or some kind of joke

haha, 3 wheeler ftl sundown ftw

x2 on inner tube part haha. -
Bought a used saz1500d off joshfi, he responded fast with everything, good communication, shipped the day I paid. The packaging wasn't perfect, good packing on top of amp but the bottom of box and amp had nothing, so if it had been dropped it would of likely broke. Luckily the amp works perfect and that wasn't the case. Thanks Josh I would buy again

I figured it was. How do i do the whole sending the sub in && How long do you think itd take? && Whats the price? go to the fi forum. they will help you out there. the price is on their sight and to send it in i hope you have the original packaging i dont have the original packaging.. Then package it well... Build a box out of wood to secure it, and use those foam pool toys (the long strings with a hole through them) and cut those and place around driver and box so there's no "play" and ship away
