    Next Year Blowthrough Build

Thanks.. Just want things to go good for this build.. Keep your eyes out for it soon.. I hope.. Which Mazda do you have? My mother has the mazda 6 station wagon... So much room to do a big build like this I keep telling her to get a new car and give me hers lol

which setup would have more ouput?

I think your idea of all the drivers abilities to play music is a little off key. No pun intended The Q is for the true audiophile. It's SQ orientated. Throw it in a sealed box for a super linear output response, have it crosssed fairly low and blended in with your midbass drivers, and the finishing piece, your tweeters mounted nicely on your A-pillars. The above is just an example, sure you could do it with a btl and it'll sound good, and it'll play everything accurately. But is it accurate reproduction of the original sound material? Did the actual recording have that much absurd bass that your btl on 2kw is playing? Probably not. The BTL is made to get loud, depending on which model, you could go for a loud daily vehicle or a spl one hit wonder competition setup. If your goal is to play loud musical bass in a daily driver then the BTL N2 is the perfect choice.

    15 btl help please

Fair enough Well with your current dimensions your only options for a 15" and enclosure in terms of placement would be upfiring or downfiring. Probably better off going with 10" box height and up firing, this would give you around 2" for the driver to properly unload, but boy is your trunk gonna rattle

    Sorry

If you can't find someone to trade drivers with, you may want to shoot SoundSplinter an email and ask how much it would cost to recone w/ 12" basket.

    15 btl help please

The btl will sound fine on 1500watts. But you could likely get the same audible output with a BL and cooling option. Either way I'm highly doubtful your stock electrical will handle the amperage draw from a 1500watt amplifier. So I would still strongly recommend upgrading your alt and/or adding a battery or two.

    Audioque AQ 1200D Amp

such a pusher...lol... how come you never offered me your amp stef??? You know I gots a baby amp.....!! Jerk Offers up to anyone, feel free to PM me about it. i dont really have a budget ill just save, save, and save till i get enough money lol my car has a stock supercharger so i upgraded the battery, alt, and upgraded the big 3 to 2awg before i even bought a system although i am only running a 4awg kit for my amp so im thinkin it could use an upgrade before i get a bigger amp id be looking for maybe 1400-1600w but im thinkin maybe around $400 to spend on it im not sure ive never bought an amp that big so i dont really know what they cost really i paid $150 for my amp Oh wait you know what i could allways buy my exact same amp again they can be ran in master and slave through a data cable thats supplied with the amp but then again it pushes really clean wattage but its made in china so im not sure how long the parts in it will last its a soundstream rubicon 1.1000d the 2010 model Sorry if this comes across being harsh but his question was for the OP, not you. If you need help post a new thread.

40/13"? Can you repost that dimension please. I doubt your going to want to build your box inside the trunk. So what's your trunk opening dimensions 40/ 43” W x 27” L x 12” T I understand your depth dimension 27" and height dimension 12" but your width dimension doesn't make any sense. 40 / 13" is equivalent to 3.0769" And I don't think your trunk width is 3" lol. So do you mean 40" - 43", 40 4/3" which would be 41 1/3", or 40" and then some? Also, which btl model are you looking at? The N2?

    15 btl help please

Right now I have the money for one 15 btl and the amps. I'm not going to put in the car right away maybe a little later in the new year. My thing now is I keep getting different cars never small always something with a lot of trunk space like caprices crown vics and impalas. So I'm hoping to build a box that can go into each on my cars with still having the proper air space for the sub or subs. I'm thinking maybe just one 15 will do just fine for me. Sounds good. So you can afford one btl. How much do you have / willing to spend on an amp(s)? Your going to want to run around 2kw on the BTL or your better off going with a BL on less power. Your stock electrical isn't going to support the amperage draw from a 2kw amp, so your probably gonna want to add a couple batteries in the back. You said you had an optima right? From what I've seen and read Optima batteries aren't the best for car audio, perhaps a couple deka 9a31?s would be good if your on a budget.

    Audioque AQ 1200D Amp

Just for the record, I'm not in any way, shape, or form pushing a sundown amp or even mine for that matter. Using 1200watts or 1500watts isn't going to be an audible difference, But there's no harm in buying a bigger amp if it's cheaper and does everything you want it to do. So I was just throwing the option out there for the OP.

    15 btl help please

I completely understand your goals man, you want a loud daily driver. The BTL is the perfect choice. But there's limitations to everything, one being space, another being your budget. For example: two 12" btls on around 4kw with a proper box should be louder then a single 15" btl on 2kw of power. But can you afford two btls instead of one? Do you have the room for the proper enclosure? Do you have the room for the battery bank? Can you afford a h/o alt? This is where a budget comes into play, saying your going to upgrade down the road doesn't work help this situation. Even two 12" BLs on say 2kw should get louder then a 15" BTL on 2kw. BLs are certainly cheaper, but a single driver is cheapest. any large driver in a illsized enclosure will lack in output verse a smaller driver in an optimal enclosure. My point is there are tons of options and ways to get loud, but you need to give us more information so we can help give you a better educated answer.

I think bromo does free enclosure designs. or did heh What vehicle is this going in? What dimensions do you have to work with? There's several driver and port placement combinations, depending on your vehicle one may work better then another.

Can you try and make more sense when you type? Saying you want it loud cuz u liek loud deep clean bass doesn't mean anything. Post the dimensions I asked for, What's your overall budget for sub, enclosure (you building it? or having it made), amp, battery(s)?
  18. ssh

    15 btl help please

I don't understand what your saying, sorry I wouldn't attempt to put an 18" in a trunk car. Likely better off with a 15". But I'm just going off vague generalizations here. Whats your trunk opening dimensions? Whats the inside trunk dimensions? And for the record your goal is to get louder then your friends setup, so lets take a guess at how much power hes using? Does he have an aftermarket high output alternator? Does he have any additional batteries besides the starting battery?

Hey I'm new and have some questions

As Jay-cee also said, get a dual 2 ohm driver and wire it as the picture is. Then when you get your 1200d you can rewire the sub down to 1ohm...
  20. ssh

Hey I'm new and have some questions

This will just be a temporary setup until i build a new box and get a new amp. I just want to make sure it will be safe for the sub until then What Jay-cee is suggesting is correct about 40hz tuning for a daily box = bad idea. Tuning that high is for fart boxes. But as you stated this is just temp. As long as your ssf is set correctly then you can at least use the box for the time being (may not be great but hey)

Hey I'm new and have some questions

Are you planning on getting another driver in the future? Is the crossfire vr602 a temp amp or permanent amp? Is the crossfire amp 1ohm or 2ohm stable? If your getting a newer amp, is it 1ohm or 2ohm stable? And what do you mean by "wire this" How do you connect the driver to the amp?

Hey I'm new and have some questions

the port wall pretty much just goes back and ends 13 1/8" deep inside the box. Then your enclosure is tuned around 41hz, which isn't surprising for a prefab... That will still be ok for now for the ssd 15 correct? Yep. Just turn your ssf up to around 38hz on your amplifier.

Totaled my 2008 Grand Marquis LS

Thanks man. I'm not sure where to turn right now as far as that goes. Driving my car and listening to music was just so therapeutic for me. Unfortunately, I've been having more frequent panic attacks since the accident. Mainly because I know I can't just walk outside and go for a ride to calm down. I have a doctors appointment scheduled for tomorrow along with a USAA insurance meeting. The claim adjuster is coming out to me with a lawyer to discuss the situation. I'm blaming the apartment complex 100% for their negligence. I've done a couple over the phone consultations with local law firms and they have all told me I have a pretty good case here. I really hope that is the case. I've had a couple people tell me it's all my fault because my 22s aren't road safe, which doesn't make sense to me especially with brand new Z rated Falkens tires on them. I have PLENTY of traction along with traction control in the vehicle. Some people just don't understand the power of a little ice on the road. They may try and use that against your case, that such large rims aren't road safe, in that case just state how long you've been driving with large rims and haven't had any accidents. Hope everything gets sorted out for ya!

Hey I'm new and have some questions

Does your port curve at the end, like an "L" or is it straight back and then stops? If it just stops and your saying the length is 13 1/8" and your box volume is around 4cubes, then your box is tuned somewhere around 41hz
