Anything wrong with gain all the way down?
ssh replied to bimmerboy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I know that, it amplifies the signal, but with the gain all the way down i was unsure if it cuts the signal completely or not lol I want my bro to enjoy the system but not destroy it.... Just trying to make sure he can't go too crazy with it. Turning the gain all the way down won't completely stop the signal but it will lower it. So instead of having to turn the volume knob on the h/u up to say 20 for clipping to occur, you may need to turn the volume to 40 or something. It's all relative to one another. -
sweet Now I'm gonna kick back and wait for pics

If your trying to find the port area for a round port, it would be (pie)*R^2 But if it's an aero port that flares then I don't know
-
The lower the enclosure tuning the more output you'll get on the lower end and less on the top and vice versa. That's why most SPL fart boxes for competing are tuned super high because they burp a higher frequency tone (example: enclosured tuned to 50hz and burping at 55hz or whatever)

Sundown 1500D or 2000D for 18" XCON D2?
ssh replied to swagger_wagon468's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
This is the biggest mistake people make. You think because the RMS rating is higher, it needs more power? I still saw the "Give it RMS" a few posts ago, lol....... I understand a higher rated rns driver can still play fine and be loud with WAY less then rated power. I understand that, but some drivers have stiff suspension and are made to outperform their counterparts ON more power. For instance yes you could run a BTL on 500watts or 1000watts and it's going to sound good. But a BL on the same 500watts or 1000watts is likely to perform just as well. But once you throw 2kw to a BL and BTL then the BTL really shines. So if your only gonna run 500watts or whatever then why spend all the money on a BTL when you could just get a BL... At least this is what I always believed to be true.- 51 replies

Blues Production Sub's. . . . . . . Remember
ssh replied to HiFonicsHorder1's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
So now its in our interest to provide parameters? YOU want to see them. YOU are the one stating someones opinion on how the speakers sound doesnt count for anything. We love the speakers and could care less about some lines on a piece of paper. Drop it, or call Ray and ask him for the parameters YOU are interested in. We obviously dont care enough to ask him. dude ?? I try my best to calm everyone down and your gonna get them fired up again ?? thanks alot ... Lol. I could care less about calming people down. I will state my opinion, and if I think something is wrong I will state it. If he wants the parameters, it's not up to you to go get them....it's up to him. Don't be a pushover. Yeah man, stand up and fight the man! -
Good question, I kinda doubt that amp would handle any load under 2ohm to begin with, but perhaps it's wired lower and that's the problem
-
Yeah your probably right. I haven't checked the speaker wire on the sub, if some were loose could that be why its clipping? Just because your amp shuts off doesn't mean the signal is being clipped... And no, if your speaker wires are loose it's getting a bad connection and that could possibly effect output but isn't going to cause clipping. However, if the speaker wires are loose and by chance touch then that may fry some shit and throw your amp into protect.

When I turn it up the amp shuts off and I have to turn it down and then it comes back on. Check your grounds. I already have my ground is fine Alright well until you get a dmm and post back your voltage drop at full tilt, we can't really help that much

1998 Ford Ranger 2 door, 10" Sub-woofer Enclosure?
ssh replied to TheBlackCracka's topic in Fi Technical
I would figure out what can fit before you buy the driver and try and make it fit. Give us some dimensions from the rear? How much space are you willing to give up? etc? -
Just keep the sa8 you have and not deal with shipping and reselling new drivers?

Sundown 1500D or 2000D for 18" XCON D2?
ssh replied to swagger_wagon468's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Yes I would because the Xcon will still dominate at that level, I had 3-Kicker CVX's on 700 watts and loved it and was more than enough for people to sit in my car and bail out (I wondered what my SAZ-2000D would of sounded like but it wasnt neccessary). Power is not the main concern, why wouldnt you put an Xcon on 500 watts. Does it matter how much it sees, thats like people thinking I got to give a BTL 3000 watts to perform (c'mon man). It has to do more with Goals, Application and so on. Would you not get an Xcon cause you dont want to get a 2000 watt amplifier or want to upgrade your electrical, I would still get it. Just cause you wont dont rule out what others will do, everyone is not the same or even thinks the same. You buy what you can afford and so on. The whole point is to get all the available information before making suggestion, that is what we are here to do. Well I guess we do think different Some drivers take more power to make them more "worth your while" then others. If I'm only driving down the block for groceries I don't need a ferrari so I'll buy a prius -
Sundown 1500D or 2000D for 18" XCON D2?
ssh replied to swagger_wagon468's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
But then again you wouldn't buy an xcon to use on a 500watt amp when an icon would perform just as well if not better. -
Just bought two blk friday X's for a home theater setup..
ssh replied to silenkiller's topic in Fi Products
Never thought about that, using two enclosures to combat objects in room effecting output to listening position -

Ported is going to give you more output across the chart, but it may not be as linear as a sealed enclosure. Tuning to 20hz would be great for movies -
Sundown 1500D or 2000D for 18" XCON D2?
ssh replied to swagger_wagon468's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
x2, funny that nobody said anything about enclosure size or the electrical required that you will need to power the amplifier. Budget on amplifier would help as well? It seems as though you only want Sundown, are you open to other options as well? Sure larger enclosure volume = decreased power handling and vice versa but as long as the enclosure is within the recommended volume size then running either amp shouldn't be a problem. The difference between the "rated" power (within the recommended enclosure size) and 2000d is 275watts. 275watts isn't going to do much in the scheme of things. (actually setting up the amp correctly will have more affect, ssf, gain.) And lets not forget just because an amp is rated to make xxx wattage at x ohm doesn't mean the driver is likely ever going to see that rated power when playing music... Test tones on short burps, sure. But then again your burping, the enclosure is small as hell, and the driver can take a fair amount more power then "rated" since it's such a short period of time and the VC doesn't heat up as much. Now if the enclosure has some ridiculous volume that's acting as an IB setup then that's a whole different story. -
