Fi BL 15" with large custom ported box?

both. -
I see your running XCON's ported, how do they sound with rock or metal? Do you like having your subs punch you in the chest? Lol, they are unbelievable on rock and metal. It depends on the song though, some songs are ridiculously awesome while others are lacking because my system isn't really focused on rock. I find that a lot of rock songs do not have the lower frequencies recorded loud enough, but that might just be the ones I listen to. I think if you were heading in that route you'd probably want a slightly higher tuning like 33-35 than what I have. This will probably help on rock in most cases, though a lot of it has to do with the dynamics of a particular vehicle. I hope you enjoy your XCON! Agreed. Setting my amp gains to most output before audible clipping for dubstep and rap, then playing metallica I have to bump up the bass level on my deck from 0 to 2 or 3

Agreed. No one else wants to hear YOUR stereo. Post a budget and max dimensions for your car.

mmm. I loved my icons... and new ones on the way!

I was mentioning 50hz, because that is what some people have been telling me I guess. I'm realistically looking at having the sub crossed at 70 (XCON 12). I like a little more impact from the sub. Problem is, I don't know if the XCON is capable of running up to 70 hz. I had an ED 13AV2 and was told it would exceed 70, but based on an RTA, 63 is where it rolled off fast. I really want a system that is going to give me some hard hitting kick drums, even the tighter metal kicks. Also, here is the site for my mids http://www.dls.se/en/car/prod.html?produkt=en_581 An xcon driver will play 70hz just fine

Looks like your front wheel is bent inward?

Thats the one big downside to audio builds. How it sounds is what really matters in the end but we have no way of knowing on a forum. I'll report how it sounds when it's up and running at least. I was going to just slap a box in the back but then I'd end up having to remove it all the time for more room. So the time spent doesn't bother me since I'll be able to load up the car for and go on a road trip without leaving the sounds behind. I really don't know what to expect out of it. I have a feeling it's going to sound close to what a sealed box does. It's going to sound like sex for your ears

Yea flared aero ports are fine, just make sure you have enough port area. Which/what driver(s) are you using? box volume?

Digging the tabs and welded screws down, nothing beats simplicity. Really wish I could hear this when it's all done

I stopped by the second skin warehouse the other day and got 20squarefeet of the damplifier pro as well, good stuff But I think I need to get some more heh

Trying to figure out a box for 2 15" xcons.

Is the design calling for a common chamber or separated chambers? -
I know I come across as being an ass, but your asking questions that are all relative to a persons idea of what sounds good or loud. It's not really going to help you. I saw you stated your vehicle type and your current enclosure size, how much room are you willing to give up for an enclosure? Are you planning on putting the box behind the center console? Under the rear seats?
-
Why is a ford gt40 SOOO much more then a mustang?
-
are you serious?? damn! what about with 1.6cuft tho? Playing the same notes does not mean it will have equal output... Both subwoofers can play the same frequency range... One has more cone area, thus more output.

Threads like these suck. As bassahaulic asked, how much airspace, volume do you have to work with in your vehicle? Installation is ultimately going to effect the end product. I've never had any experience with the sa8s, but I've owned a BL and loved it. So if the choice was mine, I'd get the 10" BL. 2 sa8s would have slightly more cone area then a single 10" bl though...

I've personally been needing to get a hold of DC Power for the last couple months. Sent them a PM and posted here on the forum and had no response for a while. Yesterday I sent them an email and Rob immediately replied, so yeah

Best I did was a 142.7 at 40hz. saz1500d at 1ohm 18" fi bl ~7.6cube enclosure tuned to 33hz. door open, mic at headrest. Edit, I see you said with music... not sure then.

SSA has a couple free enclosure designs: link If one of those don't work for your vehicle then you can get one through the ssa store. The designs are made / approved by SSA after all, so yes they would be optimal

Hey Stefan, I was the one helping at the Hooters show. Blue jeep with the Fi BL, right? My ride will not be done for some time but I might put the BTL back in for the Dec 4th show in Phx. Oh yeah I remember, Jason right? Did you get the btl in the show this weekend? I heard there was lots of cars!

^ or notecards. There's even some "professional" shims on ebay: shim link although there's nothing really to them

Well I listen to mostly rock with some rap and techno as well. What would you suggest that I do, I'm not sure which would be better for my particular application here. Your enclosure design and amp are fine. If you use your current plan and build your enclosure and don't like it, you can always build another. But I honestly doubt you won't like it

I would personally buy Fi over RE.

She said it only looked like 3 inches...
